Well people it's the 1st August tomorrow. do you think any takeover will be announced like previous rumours?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are you sure it's not April 1st? Can't hold my breath for much longer, going to bed to say my prayers. Sorry guys LERNER OUT before I give up the ghost.

Agree0 Disagree0

God I really think i'm going to be let down big time. here's hoping anyway.

Just goes to show how far we have fallen with everton signing Lukaku and we have cole and co. wasn't that long ago we were on a par with them, now its a million miles. I thank you mr lerner must make you so proud.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not RL fault he's spent enough BAD MANAGERS

Have seen a few rumours about us making a move for Aleksandr Kokorin. Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why not go for Hatem Ben Arfa after all he is training with the kids at newcastle, should fit right in with are bomb squad?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would very much like to see Kokorin at Villa Park, but as Dynamo Moscow have put a 19 million euros release clause in his contract, could you see us paying that?
No chance - a bit of wishful thinking from someone I'm afraid.

if we manage too keep Ron vlaar that will be our biggest signing and he will be the difference staying in the premiership or not

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We must try to keep vlaar only class defender we've got and one of the best in the world cup

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont forget Okores.
His passage to international defender was very rapid. He is rated as one of the top buys of last season but his injury meant that we did not see much of him.
Also Senderous is not a to be overlooked, his experience alone puts him in front of Herd, Baker and way ahead of Clark.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not wanting to get carried away I but think if we play in my opinion 3-5-2. With the player we have i'm quite looking forward to the new season. Fordy.

Agree0 Disagree0

3-5-2

Guzan
Okore vlaar baker/senderos depending on who you prefer

Bacuna Westwood Delph Richardson

Gabby at CAM (rotating with cole)

Benteke weimann (rotating with kozak or gabby when cole plays)

That's my opinion especially with the link up play between gabby andi and benteke in the first season and the first half of last season.

Seems unlikely but a few people think Villa may land Tolgay Arslan, not sure if its meant to be a loan or whatever? either way would be a real coup, Arsenal were looking at him at one point also.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

8 goals in 105 games for Arslan doesn't sound like much of a return to me and if Arsenal were looking at him that is sure to put up the asking price.
There must be better value out there.

Today the T-------h report that PL has moved for Moses and will have another go for Ki very soon. These could be the two names for some of the rumours. I believe that we are going in the right direction and am feeling good about the coming season. There is a nucleus of experience and some still energetic younger players and some returning that will want to prove themselves.
Also interesting to note that the local paper suggesting that a buyer could still be in the area and following all the paperwork they could be ready to show their hands.
Perhaps August 1st is not to be dismissed as scuttle!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree with you Oldvillan we are looking like a decent team going into the season we just need to keep hold of Vlaar or at least get a decent amount of money for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vlaar is a "must" for us. No transfer to anywhere should be considered. We will perform better this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought you said you did not agree with me Oldvillan.
I have been saying this for over a month now mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only sometimes Dave. I too have been stating that Vlaar must stay. It is on PL that we disagree.

Victor moses on loan. think this would a decent sighing. Fordy.

Villa linked to ki again now that they are back from States, and a possible loan move for Moses of Chelsea, would be a very welcome signing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Southampton are willing to offer 2 out of G. Ramirez, J. Fonte and N. Cylne in exchange for Vlaar. I Would personally take Ramirez as we need an attacking midfielder and J. Fonte as he is a direct replacement. Thus duo would also be better than the spurs option of Holtby and Dawson

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't see southampton offering them players. Why would they sell lovren and offer their other centre back? Fordy.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2014 22:22:25
I completely agree mandex. Even with 40m we wouldn't or couldn't attract players of good calibre. So 40m in the bank would be pretty pointless. Fordy.

Expect two new signings at villa this week. One being a holding midfielder the other one the "marquee" signing off the summer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whoever you are.
Below is a quote from Paul Lambert on "newsnow" today.
Paul Lambert: I’m still looking to bring another couple of signings in when we return.
So where did you get "your" info from, and who are you!

Calm down columbo, it's tosh like that what makes me keep coming back.

My team for this season 3, 5, 2 guzan, okore, vlaar, senderos, Richardson, delph, Westwood, cole (if fit) bacuna, bent, benteke. I think keane will give benty a well deserved kick up the arse! What do we think optimistic villa fans?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That team would be boring westwood bacuna senderos bent not up to it, surly you would rather play the good young players

Agree0 Disagree0

I would play:
Guzan
Vlaar Okore Senderous
Richardson Westwood Delph Bacuna
Gabby Benteke Weiman

Have to play like that in my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

Bent has looked sharper during pre-season.

Agree0 Disagree0

See we are 1-0 up at half time against Houston, though e haven't played particularly well. Goal from Joe Bennett. 10 changes to be made for the second half it seems.
On a different note, how can Everton who are even more hard up than we are afford to pay 20 million pounds for Lukaku?
Clarrie blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

They've finished very high for the last few seasons and sold fellani for a high amount also. They have the money to spend

Strong rumours around that S'hampton will now make a positive move for Vlaar, as Lovren looks a cert for LFC.

I want PL to say ---- off to anyone that makes contact.

With Okores, Vlaar, Splenderous at the back we will have a good solid back 3 to build on with the wing backs we have Lowton and Richardson. Van Gaal is going to play a back 3 so it must be feasible.

We have Gardener, N'Zogbia and Delph in the middle and some options up front with Gabby, Big Ben & Andy Weimann. Several deputies that will serve us well and Keano to remind players that it is a 90 minute game.

I am hoping that the future is looking brighter and that what PL has bought in will be effective.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They should bottle you as an anti depressant Old Villain

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think n'zogbia is disciplined enough to play in the centre. therefore would choose cole over n'zog.

Agree0 Disagree0

Old Villain. Brian Little played a back 3 as well don't forget
What is the obsession with all thing Van Since when did Van Gaal become the oracle of football and why must anything he does therefore be good?

Agree0 Disagree0

Blimey, I really need to proof read before I post.

Agree0 Disagree0

Many teams played back 3 in the w/cup, not only Van Gall but he is the only manager in the prem to identify this formation. If we had managed to do the same last season perhaps we would have done a bit better. As you point out Brian Little played a back 3 so it is not a new thing but it is workable with what we have.
If the usual slump could be eliminated this season we will end up towards the middle of the league, providing we keep Vlaar.
Our defence was the weak spot and never gave the front line any hope.
I know that they did not score enough either but hopefully Bent will pay us back for the poor performances that he produced.
14/15 must show an improvement, it can't be any worse,
Forget the PL out crowd and the Lerner out mob ( I am one) and let us get together and give the team all the support that we can and perhaps Keano can get under the skin of the non performers.
All of my fuutre posts will reflect a totally positive attitude and I encourage all others to do likewise.

Oldvillan.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you seem to have forgotten Brendan Rodgers played a back three at Liverpool a number of times over his two years in charge. There is nothing new in it, and Van Gaal is far from doing anything revolutionary, nor is he the only one doing it in the Prem.}

Hi Old Villain
I'd just encourage everyone on here to be honest and interesting mate.
I can't promise to be positive as it's not what I truly feel about my team at the moment (I wish it wasn't the case but it is I'm afraid)
I thought this site was meant to be about exchange of information and ideas as opposed to some sort of cheerleading exercise

Agree0 Disagree0

We were week all over the park last season Oldvillan.
Shipping Goals, No control in midfield, and shy up front.
If we need to play 6 at the back 3 in the middle and 1 up font to get results so be it (over the top I know)
I think we need to a bit more cavalier up front to be honest, how many touches does Gabby need before he has a pop at goal, quality frontmen see the chance and take it.

August 1st is fast approaching, I, 've not been this has excited about a date since the millennium bug frenzy at the end of 1999. How about Gary Hooper?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would be a class signing

Agree0 Disagree0

He wasn't exactly prolific at Norwich

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Mendax.
Neither was Michael Owen at Real Madrid, or Van Persie at Feyenoord.

Agree0 Disagree0

Owen's goal to game ratio at Madrid was act high and Hooper is no Van Persie.
(Was he not played more as a wide player there anyway?)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure mate about Van Persie, maybe, but the point I am trying to make is that players can become prolific goal scorers in the correct set up.
Cooper has scored 147 goals in 330 games which ain't bad is it!
Would Owen or Van Persie score 30 goals a season at Nowrich with the service they would get I doubt it.
Take Petrov He scored 1 in 4 at Celtic, at Villa 1 in 20 but what a player he was for us.
So I think any player can have a change of fortunes no matter who he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Beggers can't be chooser. Hooper would be fairly good signing. Not sure about him being world class mind. Fordy.

Agree0 Disagree0

The trouble is Villadave, we are not a team that produces a lot of chances for players. The last 2 years have proved that

Good piece in the paper today detailing why Lerner can't sell AVFC. It would appear that a new buyer would only be able to invest the amount of money that the club has already earned. Platini introduced fair play rules which govern spending. Now I have no way of knowing what AVFC have earned but it could be a reason for the lack of enthusiasm from buyers and Lerners unwillingness to give PL any brass to spend. It could also be the reason why PL has bought cheap in the hope of developing players over the past couple of seasons. Oldvillan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The author of the article about failure to sell AVFC also pointed out that this could be the reason that Everton are struggling to find a buyer and also spend very little, relying on frees, youth and the occasional older player.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are absolutely right, but for some reason Everton seem to do so much better than we do.
Clarrie.

Agree0 Disagree0

It could be down to the coaching side of things Clarrie.
We don't seem to be blessed with to many technically gifted players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton do well because they are in Liverpool, and that means a very trendy opportunity for players.
We seem to get poor press nationally, someone quoted on the site that London press are only interested in southern teams and northern press only have time for Manchester & Liverpool. We have the good old Mail.
The North West is seen as a growth area, the midlands, well who knows!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton's success is down to the last 2 managers they have had far more than the national press
Forgetting his ManU nightmare, Moyes was an excellent manager.
As for Martinez, I think we all realise how badly we missed out there

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure what you mean Oldvillan?
You think they do well because of the trendy opportunities and their geographical position.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Dave, it's quite simple that players/millionaires don't see the great city of Birmingham as an attractive option. Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, London all get positive media reports, whereas Birmingham receives little praise. A friend who was connected with BCFC told me several years ago that even then it was difficult to persuade players to come to the city. Things have not changed for a positive outlook but are probably worse. I don't know where you live or what work you do but I guess if you were offered the same job but in another city you would take the job. Until the image of the city improves none of the local clubs will get "names"to sign. Lambert is finding it difficult to attract players within the structure that Lerner has set and I don't think that many managers could bring in stars. O, Neil got some to sign and now we are stuck with their wages which Lambert has been told to get rid. The city is a great city but we are well behind other major cities in popularity. You will probably not agree with my thinking but Benteke stated that he thought he was signing for a big London club when he signed for Villa.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Oldvillan.
Sounds like we are wasting our time as a football club then.

Agree0 Disagree0

No Dave we nearly got it right when half of the England team played for Villa.
O, Neil was getting there but after he disagreed with Lerner (you know my thoughts on him) and threw his toys out of the pram we went backwards. Lerner would not sustain the wage bill that O'Neil was creating. Lerner employed the wrong men and what followed can be seen in the position we find ourselves.
The mixture of youth and experience that appears to be the present style could come to fruition. Okores is fit, Vlaar is still with us, Benteke is nearly fit, the outcasts are back and playing for their places. Some experience has arrived by means of free agents and more could be in the pipeline.
Then what could be a master move. Who will not give 100% with Keano behind them?
Like you I desire a Villa team mixing it with the top 6, but every supporter of every club outside of the top 6 also want the same.
Hopefully this coming season we will move up a couple of places, avoid the annual 6/8 games where the players forget what they are doing and get the half a dozen points that are needed to move us up.
The city of Birmingham needs and should have a top table team and they should be in Claret & Blue.
My passion like yours holds no bounds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Oldvillan.
Your last post above has echoed everything I posted on 01/06/14 so I do understand our position believe me.
I also feel we are a far bigger and better proposition than Everton will ever be, whether we are in Brum, or Timbuktu.
We will improve, just not a quickly as some would like.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2014 14:20:40
Strong rumours of Southampton pushing for in excess of £20m for Lovren so if they want Vlaar then the price must be in excess of what they get for Lovren. We must no longer be a pushover for other ambitious clubs. If Vlaar departs at the end of his contract how much will AVFC have lost, but we will have kept him for another season which is essential

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jul 2014 21:30:52
I have been informed by a very reliable source that we are on the cusp of being bought by a consortium headed up by kingvilla.

He is rumoured to be intent on buying himself as his first transfer, as well as taking on a director of football role to assist Lambert with further transfers, day-to-day management and tactics.

My source will of course remain anonymous (don't worry K)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be fair, this seems more plausible than most of nonsense on here of late

As for the Ki situation I would give him until the first game in the states to make up his mind.
If he has not made a decision by then "JOG ON".
He might well end up with egg on his face.

Let us please not show desperation in our search for players, if they hesitate that's cool we must move on.

There are many players out there that could help us on paper, but they must want to play for Aston Villa.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't always agree with you Villadave but this time I do.
The only problem is that PL does not have the money for reasons that are well known to go out and get the players and I think that he is hopeful of getting KI for £2m even though this has been denied.
I dream of the day that we go to a top club and offer them money for an existing top player as Chelsea Man City and the others are able to do. Then I will know that we are really in the prem.

Oldvillan

Agree0 Disagree0

Oldvillan.
I think its fair to say that most of us on here disagree with each other on different issues, if we all agreed with each other all the time we would be Robots mate.
I understand if some people disagree with my views blimey, just ask the wife.
I know you like PL as do others, but I wish he had purchased 3, 4, or 5 quality players with the money he has had in the past, rather than 10 very mediocre players that are clearly not performing.
Having said that I still think we will have a better season this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2014 11:07:54
My God. Look what Lerner has reduced us to
An average middlefield player from Swansea is not sure he wants a move to Villa.
Southampton are openly talking about one of our players as a replacement for one of theirs (disgraceful behaviour by Koeman by the way)
And, apparently, QPR circling for the same player.
That's QPR, with a capacity of about 16000!
Never thought I'd see it this bad

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Mendax.
I don't think its because we are Aston Villa mate, I think its more to do with our location.
I believe the interest for Ki is coming from London where the media interest is far greater, and as we know players love attention.
Also as far a Vlaar is concerned he won't be going to QPR I am pretty sure of that, Manchester United maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Point I'm trying to make Dave, is that there was a sustained period of time (not that long ago) during which players would jump at a chance of joining Villa and teams like Southampton and QPR would never dream of being able to poach our better players
Our standing in the game has dropped to levels not seen in a long time thanks to Lerner

Agree0 Disagree0

With all the latest reports that Southampton want Vlaar, I would like to ask why he would want to go there?
In my view with all the players they have lost and with others on the brink of leaving and with a new manager attempting to settle in, they are a shoe in for the relegation zone this season.
Clarrie blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

So, what do people think of the latest nonsense coming out of Villa Park?
According to a report in one of todays newspapers, club legend Ian Taylor has been thrown off the trip to the USA for criticising the club in his newspaper column, which has upset the sainted Lambert.
Taylor has been replaced on the trip by Lee Hendrie.
How pathetic - it proves that Lambert is unable to take criticism but then we all knew that already.
Clarrie blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Isn't Hendrie just covering for Taylor on the trip because he had other commitments and couldn't travel?}

Not sure about that Ed but the report does say that Taylor has been ordered off the trip to the USA by Lambert who is upset that Taylor has criticised club decisions in his column, not because Taylor couldn't make the trip due to other commitments.
Clarrie

Yeah that's want read aswell. fordy

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2014 16:46:37
RL is to talk to players first as pl already knows the outcome but whilst in the US he is to hold a meeting with new owners and players the truth to the matter is that RL and PL meeting in the US before was productive and new owners want to meet the team in person before going public

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sounds like bollucks but if true I hope they bring in some decent players as the glimpse of a decent signing we've had so far is a past it joe cole who can hopefully show us a few glimpses of his former form

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah right. As if Lerner or any owner for that matter, is going to be bothered what the players of a football team he is desperate to get rid of, think of new owners
Why make this nonsense up
Very irritataing

just back from Mansfield game several points of note hutton and bent had very good games, okore showed villa, his return to health is like the signing of a quality player, bent was very sharp, cole looked well at home but it was good to see n'zogbia back and looking useful, huttons performance was the highlight, energetic, hungry and eager to attack his opposite full back cole, loked comfortable and showed a few glimpses of imaginationand a willingness to do something' a bit different'mansfield gave a good account of themselves in what ciuld have been a stickyfixture but out of 10 i'd give the boys a 7

ASTON VILLA LEAKED!

Rumours are rife that during Aston villa's pre season visit to USA this weekend Larry Ellison will finally declare if he will or will not make an offer for our club,

It's understood that although there have been a few links with random American business men without any substance, Guzan has been approached by a representative of Larry to get an overview of the club/staff and possibilities of EPL sustainability by the club.

Apparently both men also collectively agreed the it was pointless even in the interim to have Bent/Hutton/Nzogbia involved with the first team due to the negativity which would influence the young players, Bent for instance had been non effective at Fulham, A fee of £1mill for either player would be welcomed.

It is also said the Larry's first appointments would be Jurgen Klinsmann & reinstating Paul Faulkner due to his knowledge of club and EPL. The source of this probable made up internet rumour is another without credibility, however if there is any truth then it would be something all villa fans would embrace and reignite optimism for all.

In rumours we hope for some bit of truth, especially during this time

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Jurgen wouldn't come to the Villa, as he's stated on ESPN that he's been approached to be the manager of many club teams, but he wants to stay with the US national team

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree mate. I think he would jump at the chance to become a manger in the PL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Klinsman quit the Germany role as he wanted to live in America with his Amercian wife and family, so can't see him quitting his current role for any job outside of the USA.

Benteke scored twice tonight didn't he? Why every1 saying he Iisn't going to be fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bent back in a villa shirt and scoring. even though its only Mansfield. Not a bad thing by any means?

So Sylla has been loaned out for the season. Add this to Helenius going and we are lowering the wage bill (all be it probably not by a lot). But loosing squad size on what was already dangerously thin. There better be some movements coming, as Sylla was poor last season and Helenius shooting boots went missing, but as sure we would all love youth to be given a chance but not in a season likely to end in a relegation battle. Please be something on the horizon better than Richardson, Keane and Cole

Any of you think possibly going in for scott parker if we can't get Cambiasso,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Scott parkers legs have gone

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely we don't want Cole AND Parker.
One or the other perhaps but not both.
Personally, I don't think there is anything to choose between the two of them.
Clarrie Blue.

13 Jul 2014 18:28:59
Anyone know who else could be a holding midfield transfer if we don't get Cambiasso, think scott parker could be good,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jul 2014 16:43:22
Just wandering if any latest news bout the Cambiasso link, I think would be a brilliant signing,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cambiasso has had offers from England and Spain but would prefer a move to England to play in the Premier League. The main competition for his services is us and West Ham. West Ham feel that they are in pole position but you never know.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2014 11:12:00
2 more signings imminent; hearing it is Cambiasso and Atsu, what are peoples views? Personally think they both will be good, Atsu is direct and quick in attack, voted Vitesse's player of the year last season. And Cambiasso will sit next to Westwood and create more of a presence in midfield and protection for the back 4 or 5

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't rate Westwood. If stays fit Gardner will be our best midfield player AS stated If he stays fit

Agree0 Disagree0

Cambiasso would be a great signing. just don't think we could afford his wages. Fordy.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2014 02:01:16
Why all the rumours about Ashley Young? He does one thing well, Goes down! One thing we don't want to happen to villa.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ashley Young is still better than what we have at the moment, his dead ball and crossing was superb when he was in a villa shirt, hopefully he can rekindle this spark and perform well again

Agree0 Disagree0

Granted ashley young is abit of a light weight. An does go down far to easy but having said that, young was unbelievable when he was at vp. Probably one of the best wingers we have had for a while. So I wouldn't mind him back. Infact I think it would be a great signing. Fordy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Young is a player that stood out well in a team of good players that was never going to win league but could challenge for europa league spot. he went to utd and started to look very average with any luck we get him back and he can spark again, show he's a better player than just a diver

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 23:23:13
Vlaar with another outstanding game as much as I don't want this to happen I think that he will be leaving. But the question is how much for? I think about £8-15m for him. A positive if we lose him will be that we have money to spend on players. A good defensive player and 2 more defenders and a winger and creative player and we will be sorted. Hopefully we keep hold of Concrete Ron though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Jul 2014 16:42:26
So villa going to rival west ham for chelsea's Christian atsu on loan, personally think this would be a brilliant signing a good wide player he also had decent world cup

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good wide player who is lighting fast, the ability of players we should be aiming for.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 15:38:55
So glad Sylla won't be wearing a villa shirt next year, possibly the worst player to grace the bpl

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I didn't think he was half bad when we first got him. last season he was terrible though. I think the worst player award has to go to luna though

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 12:30:25
So now that we have signed Richardson, Senderos and Cole it is clear that lambert wants a holding midfielder. We have needed a holding midfielder for the last two seasons so hopefully we get someone good. Another question does anyone think that we will keep hold of Ron Vlaar? I think we will struggle to keep hold of him now that he has had an excellent World Cup but you never know.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Vlaar was pivotal for Holland so there is obviously going to be some interest; I would presume a fee of 8mil will see him leave VP. A holding midfielder such as Defour would be good as he has experience at the highest levels with Porto and Belgium,

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2014 22:53:35
cant believe what i'm reading about lambo not letting hutton go. seriously? does pl think him and roy keane have magic powder to sprinkle over his bald head and turn him into a defender. I think not - let him and his 40 thousand quid a week wages shove off to the baggies.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Jul 2014 21:28:47
We need to be realistic guys were not going to sign messi or ronaldo, what we have signed granted haven't set the world on fire but they all have premier league experience and are better than what we already have! UTV

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Senderos is no better than what we have. When you consider that what we have is Clark and Baker, it makes you realise how awful a signing he is

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2014 18:08:27
Confirmation of the signing of Kieran Richardson, good player who isn't too old but still has pivotal experience, will suit when we play 5 at the back, good at attacking and defending. Scores important goals and is easily better than luna and bennett. All we need now is a ST, CAM and CDM. I personally think A. Young, S. Parker and Finnabosen would be ideal, all have experience and quality. Maybe Commons from Celtic and Kiyotake

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Definitely don't think we can afford that little lot even if Randy unlocks his wallet and brushes off the cobwebs.
Hasn't Finbogason joined someone else very recently?
Clarrie blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, I was right. Finbogason joined Real Sociadad on 2nd July.
Clarrie blue.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we want some experience upfront then I think we should sign HESKEY!

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha. heskey. please tell me your pulling my leg? Fordy

Agree0 Disagree0

If Lambert managed selling Hutton, Delph, Bent and Luna, who have all been watched by certain European clubs these past few weeks, then that's possible.

I think that these Villa players are worth at least £15 million combined. That's at least £25 million Lambert can spend on transfer fees and wages this summer.

Vossen would easily cost £8-10 million, Young £6 million and Defour £5-7 million.
It could be difficult getting these players, but they are the ones that I would try to bring to the Villa.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 15:02:58
So apparently on ssn says kieran richardson is having a medical with us in the next 24 hours what's everyone think, be a decent left back for us, offers some. experience

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Richardson is not a bad player and had a really good season on loan at West Brom a while ago. However, I never saw him as a full back. His best position, to me, was always midfield.

what ppls opinion on a midfield partnership of herd and delph in middle of the park?, it would definatley add some much needed grit, determination and protection to the back 4 imo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Be very good herd a strong midfielder and with westwood as a three in middle strong centre

Agree0 Disagree0

Herd is a liability just like baker and Clark. We lose vlaar and we are in the deep stuff I feel

Agree0 Disagree0

Herd is a hot head who couldn't pass water
He doesn't have either the ability or the discipline to play central midfield
Not a premiership player. Not even close

Agree0 Disagree0

Westwood the same championship at best

Agree0 Disagree0

Not even with Keane to help provide him with tht discipline?

Agree0 Disagree0

If Keane was on the pitch, maybe,
I doubt it otherwise
I mean, do you really think that Lambert has not already tried to get through Herd's thick skull?

more than a bit odd that faulkner 'steps down' less than a month after being re-elected on to the FA Council. I feel a storm brewing.

Faulkner going, Yipee I yayyyy, Yipee I ohhhhhhh!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You may be happy about paul faulkner going but it doesn't help the situation. Infact it just throws the club into more turmoil.

Agree0 Disagree0

It must mean that something is going on involving the sale of the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets hope. we need something to. happen asap. Fordy

Agree0 Disagree0

In what way does it throw the club into more termoil? As Cjr says, something must be on the cards as Faulkner did not want a less operational role which suggests that there will be someone coming in soon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No chance young will come back to the villa. We are a mess

Agree0 Disagree0

Edger.

It is only a couple of weeks ago you said we were about to sign the Belgium LB.
Why would he come if we are in a mess.
Things are a bit unsettled at the moment, granted.
Never say never mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was also this time last year you said Helenius Would be a superstar for us dave!

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct, I did that about Helenius.

I make no secret of the fact I rate him.
He needs to play before we can discount my comment.
I still think he would be a favourite if he was given a chance, and by chance I mean a good run in the side.
This guy is young and in a foreign country, he needs time to settle and be introduced into the side half a game at a time and then given a good run.
If he then failed to impress us, I will then admit I was wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2014 21:44:01
I think people to stay a bit positive over next season, if u look at the players we will have coming back and coming in i. e grealish, Gardner, okore, Kozak, bents not a bad replacement to Kodak for the start until Christians back. Cole will bring experience and a player the young players can look upto. Afterall he may not be the best player now but he has achieved an incredible amount in his care

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Grealish, Gardner and Okore are all young unproven players at this level and it is unfair to burden them with the responsibility of saving us.
Bent is a spent force in the prem and by all accounts is off anyway.
Cole was a great player but his legs have gone and he is only here because nobody else in the division is stupid enough to give him another contract
Unless something changes we are relegation certainties mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Im optimistic about cole, at lille he was very good then went to west ham and couldn't get fit. If we get him fit he'll do well.
Senderos has always been terrible but then again Clark and baker are useless too.
Finch

Agree0 Disagree0

Grealish, Gardner and Okore would rather put my faith in these than the likes ok Lowton Bacuna Luna Styla Westwood Kozak and Sendross Just to name a few

Agree0 Disagree0

That's the point mate. We are about to through some seemingly decent youngsters in with the likes of Lowton Bacuna Luna Styla Westwood Kozak and Sendros
The point I am trying to make is that that is not fair on those youngters

Agree0 Disagree0

I see the point you are trying to make Mendax.
But that problem never affected Trevor Francis.

Gone to wash my mouth out.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2014 15:54:10
It seems Barry is staling on a loan / move to Everton.

Surely this would be a great opportunity to for us to make our interest known.
I know his wages might be a stumbling block but I think we should push the boat out just a little to try and get him.
He would offer us vast experience and a calming influence.
I know he left us, but only after giving us many years of great service, and let's be honest here who would not move on and double your wages.

Your thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I couldn't agree more Dave. Unless I jumped up and down and agreed of course

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed.
Has there been any indication that we are showing any interest in Barry at all, or any other player for that matter.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - Not that I've heard Dave.}

Thanks Ed.

Hi Mendax, bloody slow on here lately mate, It needs someone to show an interest in Benteke again to stir em up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Too right Dave.

I think we are truly in the mire
An owner who doesn't want us and is running away from his responsibilities and nobody on the horizon to take the pain away
Dark days

Agree0 Disagree0

Mendax, I think you are being unduly pessimistic, mate. A lot of rubbish came up from the division below last season, and while I am not expecting us to finish in the top six or even eight I can name at least 6 clubs who are far worse than Villa who will be more in danger of relegation than we are. I foresee a bad season for Southampton this time round given the number of players that have left as well as them bringing in a new manager. My tip for the surprise side this season are Hull who have made a number of very astute signings.
Clarrie.

Agree0 Disagree0

We all assumed that Palace were kind of "rubbish" last year that you are talking about this year Dave.
I think we will be in trouble again and would certainly have us as one of the favourites to go down
There seems to be something toxic surrounding Villa. We'll probably only know the real story once Lerner and Lambert have left

Just seen the poll today and whether Bent is the biggest flop in Villa's history - anyone remember Boško Balaban? Who, exactly!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Djemba djemba was a shocker aswell. Fordy

Agree0 Disagree0

Bennett
I cover my eyes every minute he is on the pitch.
Or how about Useless De La Cruz?

Agree0 Disagree0

Think that is outrageous. The guy nearly single handed kept us in the pl.
Personally think he's been let down by villa. His goals are needed on the pitch.
Wish he was staying.
Football fans have short memories, and deluded dreams of grandure

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree its outrageous which is why I suggested Balaban. What if Benteke recovery is not good and he has another season of woes will he be classed as a flop? Think the 30% that voted yes are not real Villa fans or have very short memories!

Agree0 Disagree0

Bent wasnt the problem, scrooges little puppet is, how do you expect a striker to score goals or show form if you only play him 1 in every 4 games as a sub or send him out on loan,

Agree0 Disagree0

The three amigos. angel, solano and de la cruz. He wasn't that bad. he's probably better than bacuna. Fordy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bent's problem has been Benteke.
Lambert wants a striker in that mould and Bent is nothing like. Benteke just highlights Bent's deficiencies.

Agree0 Disagree0

So, what do others think of todays rumour that Ashley Young could be on his way back to us? Would most supporters want him back and more to the point, what fee would United want for him? I wonder if this could be Roy Keanes idea. Also, if it is true that Randy may have changed his mind about selling, is he going to invest some cash in new players - and more than the reported 10 million which buys very little nowadays. Also if the change of heart is true - Why? Can he not find a buyer, perhaps?
Clarrie.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure what to make of the whole RL u-turn. But I wouldn't mind seeing young back at villa park if the fee was right of course. Fordy.

so we waiting til after world cup to sign players. that really makes sense. We going to sign someone still playing at the world cup? I don't think so why are we waiting? is it for Ferdinand to finish tv work heard Lambert still wants him and keane a friend of his.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought Ferdinand had already gone to QPR

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2014 18:43:30
why does everyone keep talking of this and that player, we have nothing to offer and will therefore end up with player like cole and senderos. they still think they've got what it takes to play in prem and villa just pray they can.
no top players until we get new owner, so the only thing we can hope for is roy keane motovating them to death.
bigdog

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bigdog
I think we should give everyone a chance first before we start slating players.
It is what it is mate, I think we all realise by now we are not going to sign Messi or Sturridge or players of their quality.
We will be bringing in another two or three players before the season starts, I don`t know who but we will be a far better outfit than last year.

I also predict we will be playing with a different game plan, with a plan B in place, I also think we will be playing through teams rather than depending on the long ball.

Believe men, believe.

so we sign players after world cup. So does that mean they are playing at world cup still. Can we look forward to a brazilian or argentina superstar? Or we waiting for Ferdinand to finish his tv pundit duties, Why wait doesn't make sense.

according to birmingham mail things will start moving after the world cup. Does that mean players he's after are still at world cup? can we dream stars from brazil or argentina on the way?. Sadly I think not so why wait till after the world cup when other teams are signing players now. Or are we waiting for Ferdinand to finish his tv stint. Common Lambert don't wait get them in NOW if you got the money.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jul 2014 18:43:01
Roy Keane
Love the fact he has come out and said don't expect miracles. The only miracle I will be wanting this year is that we are safe by March. What are the chances??
Gareth VTID from the south

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We know as much as you mate.

What else could he say, if he had said we will be in the top four people would have slated him.

I think we will have a hard time of it during the first quarter of the season but I am confident that we will be fine, better than last year for sure.
Calm down people, calm down.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hard to digest all we will be playing for next season is securing our PL status and hoping for a cup run. Long gone are the days when we were a top 8 club.

I think our best signing this summer would be a new chairman. the air of uncertainty surrounding the club breaths negativity both internally and externally.
It would be a nice gesture from Lerner to lower his asking price in order for suitable transfer funds being made available, If the guy really bleeds claret an blue

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jul 2014 19:43:01
I would like to make the point again that under the current circumstances we can only sign what is available to us as a club in our position.
Some additions will work out some will not, FACT.

The nucleus of our side is still the same as it was last year when most fans on here were predicting top 10 or better, fortunes can change after all, Football is one of those events that can turn on its head in a flash, teams can struggle one year and be totally different the year after.
We will have Okore back, Benteke back, Nzogbia back, Gardener fit, Grealish debut season, Cole to orchestrate things as a number 10 and with a couple of decent loan players in key positions still to be made.
Roy Keane will do a good job at VP I am sure of it and I still believe the coming season will be more productive as far as points tally and league position are concerned.

Villadave

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dave, you cheer me up, you really do
cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad I am cheering someone up Mendax.
But truthfully and joking apart, I really do feel we will be a better organised outfit this year mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is to much negativity about villa,
we struggled yes but how many players out did we have, they all coming back, plus a few additions, new coach let's get positive and bring back the good feel factor, we now where we are and we can achieve great things all together.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, being positive is not just about choice
It tends to be a reaction to a situation rather than a selection of an emotion.
What is happening at the club at the moment is inevitably going to have negative effect on the moral of the fans
Hardly their fault

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Keane is everyone`s cup of tea Fordy, but it is what it is mate, so I think we have got to give him a chance, who knows it might just work out!
Delph will benefit for sure under Keane as he has the same type of aggression in his game but tends to run around in circles and ends up in a corner.
