I thought we were poor first half.
Second half was better with the introduction of Gestede.
Amavi is very good going forward but like Bacuna is going to get caught out defensively.
Our midfield 3 were ok, good at keeping the ball and a lot of energy, but I'm worried they are all too similar and don't have the imagination nor the passing ability to open up defences and that's been a big problem for us over the last few years.
I'd really like Gil (when fit) to play in a midfield 3 with the freedom to get forward and be the playmaker we're desperate for, I think he'd be brilliant in that role and would make a massive difference.

I think veretout has the ability to unlock a defence with a killer pass. Also with Gil and grealish to come back the creativity within the team should be ok.
Looking at our forward line you could argue it looks better this season as we are not relying on one guy. But in general the squad as a whole seems to have better dimensions for various formations that can be deployed.
Certainly need a winger. I believe ts will hold out till January before making any further decision on the RB solution.

You say Amavi got caught out defensively but I'm not sure he did really. Its just his style of play, he plays defensively on the back foot almost all the time but is an incredible slide tackler. I was also very impressed by how well Sinclair covered for him - give them a few games together to learn each others game better and they will be a lethal combination. let's also not forget that he was covering Matt Richie, who is by far their best player. I think I read that over 40% of their attacks came down that side rather than the left or centre. So overall I was very impressed.

Maybe I'm bonkers but i don't believe players are generally kept in the loop by owners/managers about who the club will sign or when a club will be sold.

Sherwood would be wasting his time offering £7m for Clasie (he'll go for £10m minimum) just like it was a waste of time offering £5m for Begovic.
Clasie will probably have better options than us right now

Remember guys, Depph would have been a free this summer so the club would have let Delph (his AGENT) name their terms.
Personally I couldn't believe Delph signed a contract to stay with us, i thought he was a certainty to leave on a free this summer. But now we know why he signed, he made sure he got a reasonable release clause that he knew top clubs wouldn't be scared off from paying.
The club had no choice but to put that low ish release clause in his contract.
Benteke must be wishing his agent was as good as Delph's!

Konoplyanka is available on a free transfer if I read correctly, his wages of 100k week would put him out of our reach i'm guessing.
Terrific player tho, shame we're simply not able to compete to get players like him at the moment.
