Apparently gareth barry has been told he can leave Manchester city and his preferred destination if he is forced to leave is aston villa for a fee of around 4 million, we are also monitoring Elliot Bennett because of his contract situation at Norwich and grant holt could also be a possible incoming because he wants to leave and might hook up with lambert again

Believable6 Unbelievable12

Would love Barry to come back!

Why would we sign Holt? We have Benteke, Weimann and Helenius not to mention Gabby who will play as an out an out striker if needed.
Can't see us signing anymore strikers.

Agree15 Disagree2

Love to see Barry back, the guy is a legend. VTID

Agree18 Disagree11

Ive heard from a source in germany that pl is sizing up a 5/6 mill bid for bremen creative midfielder elia if he is willing to work on his attitude problem

Agree6 Disagree8

We don't need or want Barry back, and Holt is a no go he wouldn't fit in at villa, he's too old, fat and lazy reminds me of Milosovic but not as good

Agree8 Disagree16

Why is everyone hating on Barry

Agree16 Disagree6

You've obviously never seen Holt play he is far from lazy!

Agree7 Disagree7

Villa don't need nor want Grant Holt

Agree12 Disagree1

Barry would not cost 4 mil
he's 32 with one year left on his contract.
He has 1/2 years maybe 3 at a push playing at the top level.
Plus I think with the clubs ethos of not paying high wages means Barry would go IF he actually leaves City to a club with a higher wage bracket.

Agree4 Disagree8

Don't want Barry back, he had his chance and forced a move away for money just as we were building a strong side so stuff him!

Agree6 Disagree13

Barry left to win trophy's! Which is exactly what he did! The money was just a bonus! Some fans suck Milner's balls an slam Barry, why? Absolute fools. Barry 12 years loyalty to villa.

Barry left, GET OVER IT!

>Scg87

Agree18 Disagree3

Opinions divided on gareth barry. I have to agree with the bitter folk on this one I don't like him at all after the way in which he forced a move away because he's a money grabbing person also he would never get in our side now was loving his nightmare performances last season. milner on the other hand didn't really force a move away did he?and he did more in 3 years than what barry did in 12 so suck on that u barry loving fools

Agree4 Disagree10

Milner = quality
barry = laughable

Agree6 Disagree15

Where do people get their information from, Bennett and Norwich do not have a situation to sort and Holt is not looking to move either, and to call him fat and Lazy is a comment you would expect to hear from a child, are all Villa fans Children, You people want to worry more about Spurs coming in and Taking Benteke off your books

Agree4 Disagree7

Barry is a club legend. Anyone who thinks he was wrong to leave is stupid. He wanted to win stuff, he couldn't with us he did with city. But in all fairness he wouldn't get in our starting 11 because the younger lads will need game time. By the way if you're a fan that respects Holman and not Barry you need your brain scanned

Agree14 Disagree1

Gareth Barry I would see as a signing, mainly for the purpose of filling that experience void in the squad, as well as a pivotal figure in the development of players such as Westwood, Sylla, Delph, Gardener etc.

Would be a good signing.

Agree12 Disagree0

Utter nonsense. Gareth Barry is one of the better footballing options either Villa or England have had in a long time. The clue is in the word - footballer - why else do you think that footballing appreciating Italians such as Fabio Capello and Roberto Mancini feted him? Any dunderhead who can't see past that and bleat on about 'why so-an-so left the Villa'. you should be ashamed of yourselves any team worth its salt would welcome someone with ability, class and oh, yeah, experience.

Agree15 Disagree1

Gotta agree as much as I (and the missus, shes has a majr crush on him) would love to see barry in a kit again I think its a step in wrong direction but wouldn't mind milner

Agree3 Disagree5

Barry was the first who
Left for bigger things and waited 12 monthsnfrom when hensiwanted go out of loyalty where as Milner downing and Young decided they wanted to and went Barry was a loyal player for 12 years we should have a bit more gratitude given the game is full of mercenaries now

Agree12 Disagree0

To the fickle villa fans slamming Barry name another player who gave us 12 years of loyalty at the most we have Gaby who's been at villa since 15 attack 26 would anyone slate him if he left no cause true loyalty and love for a club are hard to come by

Agree11 Disagree0

Milner did more for Villa in 3 years then Barry did in 12?

Clearly from a 'fan' who has not spent much time at VP over the last 10 years.

As a 27 year old season ticket holder for 10 years, I can safely say barry is the greatest Villa player in my lifetime. He was a massive part of our relative success under MON. He left to join a club who were willing to pay him more then Villa would and to battle for trophies. Having won the FA Cup, Prem and played in the Champions League I would suggest him leaving for better things in justified.

How you can slate someone who played for us for such a long time is ridiculous and childish

Agree8 Disagree1

Would absolutely love to have Barry back. They guy is a villa legend. Ok he left. After 12 long years of service he had a chance to win medals so left. , and now he has an FA Cup winners medal not to mention the premier league winners medal. He could have gone Liverpool the yr before but gave us one more year to try and get us in champions league. Not only that I went down to the Petrov Charity match at Halesowen FC and the guy was still hanging around an hr after it finished signing autographs and having pics taken with every fan who waned one. He is villa trhough and through and we would be lucky to have him back.
Not toention he is a quality midfield player

Agree7 Disagree0

Barry actually said he would only leave Villa for a club playing champions league football and then up and left for city. I would have had no problem if he had stayed true to his word but left for city for the money. Yes he did finally achieve champions league football a season later but for all he knew city may never have achieved anything at the time it was a lot of ifs and buts. Fair play to him he got his wish and won silverware but for me he is well past his best and looked it last season so wouldn't like to see him wearing the claret and blue again.

Agree4 Disagree5

For people slating Barry you need to get a reality check!
Would you honestly refuse a job which offers two or three times what you earn at the moment?
In regards to Champions League debacle any betting man would have bet that Man City would achieve CL within 12 months looking at the squad.
If not worst case scenario Man City had a lot better chance of getting CL and winning titles or cups than AV

Agree7 Disagree0

Most ManC fans say Barry was one of only a handful of players who did them justice last season, so anyone that says he he wasn't anygood for them doesn't have a clue. When Barry went to city everyone new city would be competing for the league an playing CL footy within 12 months, it wasn't a secret that they had the money to invest in top quality players, that's why Barry went there, he like everyone else knew they'd be competing for every trophy going.

I'd pick Barry ahead of Deplh an Sylla every day of the week, his reading of the game is second to none, his passing and experience would help us to no end.

There are some so called 'fans' who talk of players (Barry) having no loyalty, I wonder if them same 'fans' were the same who wanted to sell Gabby in January. You want players to be loyal but you have no loyalty of your own! Hypocrites!

>Scg87

Agree7 Disagree0

Thinking back I liked the way Liverpool attempted to twist our arm and bully us into the Barry sale - would not pay 10m attempted to run his contract down and then he stayed and joined city for 12m. He did us no harm and some great service

Good morning Villa Fans some updates for you from the coal face Ireland is going to be finally leave for stoke fee £2. 5M Given is off to but you will have all read this morning papers so know where he's going he just needs to agree terms same deal as holman mutual agreement so no fee Bent is nearing his move to Newcastle fee £8M Spurs chasing Bentenke but no way will we let him go for the money they are offering villa will take £30 and kyle walker after the 5 new signings there are 2 more to happen both big money ones not going to harp on about them but one is the one we all want from france and one more after that see you all soon at the home of football VTID

Believable8 Unbelievable6

Are you deluded!
No way Stoke will pay £2.5m for Ireland!
£1m at most.
No way Bent will leave for £8m, he has been given that price tag in order to receive decent offers. £6m at most will be the selling price.
Walker is worth minimum £10m so no way they will offer £30m and him for Benteke.

Agree4 Disagree11

Villa will never accept a part exchange of Defoe or Adebayor for Benteke, will they Ed? Surely all this has no base as Villa don't want overpaid old players anymore! and £20m + Adebayor is just a joke! {Ed001's Note - Defoe wouldn't leave London anyway.}

Agree7 Disagree2

We don't need kyle walker lowton is way better and consistent

Agree7 Disagree3

Where exactly is coalface mate?
If you are going to make such grand assertions you need to back it up, just a bit
Mendax

Agree2 Disagree3

To the gentleman who kindly offered a lift a few day's ago to Steven Ireland to Hull in his Skoda. Can you please confirm that this offer is still an option to take Steven to Stoke instead. It would be much appreciated.

Agree7 Disagree0

All sounds good but walker will never happen

Agree4 Disagree1

If this is real which I highly doubt it, why don't you tell us who this "mystery player" is?

Agree6 Disagree1

Adebayor would want stupid wages villa would not do a deal end of

Agree6 Disagree0

I would gladly take Ireland anywhere in my little Skoda, pay for a new house etc etc. Heck, he can take my Skoda too, lucky boy I say.

Agree4 Disagree0

Let's have a whip round to stump up the fee to get Ireland away from Villa by tomorrow morning.

Agree3 Disagree0

Mendax the coal face happens to be bodymore heath

Agree5 Disagree1

Is that BODYMOOR heath, AVFC's training ground?

Good Morning Villa Fans, tv have just reported, (Spurs to open Talks with Benteke) If a player wants to stay, Why have talks with another club, In truth, what I said earlier turns out to be right then, (He is only saying what the fans want to hear), Accept the fact He's only loyal to his Bank balance {Ed002's Note - Benteke has performed well enough this season to attract enquiries from Liverpool, Inter Milan, Spurs and Lille. Spurs will be pushing for a move but price is likely to be a problem.}

Believable4 Unbelievable9

How on earth can a club start negotiations with a contracted player when their valuation is half our declared asking price? Utter crap

Agree7 Disagree0

Spurs can't have talks with Benteke if Villa haven't accepted any transfer fee's & they won't

Agree7 Disagree0

My God, you read some postulation in one of the red tops and you take it as fact?
I read the same article and found it interesting that the journalist said that Jermain Defoe would not be part of any deal as "why would you let go of a player who can guarantee 15 goals"
Why indeed
Mendax

Agree4 Disagree0

I'm sure Spurs will seek permission from Villa prior to talking to the player as he is under contract, won't they? Particularly as Madrid appear to be trying to attract bale's attention through the media. As a Villa supporter I have seen a number of great center forwards leave the club, Andy G, Alan Mc etc, as much as I think Benteke is an outstanding player, no one player is bigger than the club and this may be just another rumour attempting to unsettle the player, but every player has his price, only time will tell, ultimately it will show how honorable a person Benteke is!

Agree5 Disagree0

They can't open talks til a bid has been accepted that's just protocol. can't see them payin the 40 million valuation though.

Agree2 Disagree0

I think there are instances when players have been given permission to discuss personal terms even if a transfer fee has not yet been agreed. Why I don't believe Benteke is in talks with Spurs I would not be too surprised if it was the case.

Defoe is not a like for like replacement so not keen on that and Adebayor is nothing like he used to be and would command a big wage that his performances don't justify

Agree1 Disagree0

Which "TV" reported that? Absolute nonsense! Villa would have had to give permission, and there is absolutely no way they would accept cash plus Defoe or Adebayor (why would we want defoe when we don't give Bent a game? and Adebayor is so overrated it isn't funny!). Both those so called "offers" are just wishful thinking from London based journalist's who don't engage their brains before making stuff up!

Agree3 Disagree1

Simple answer is for Villa to start pestering spuds with offers for Bale (see how they like it) cos, let's face it, he's the only one they've got who would fit in with PL's criteria.

Agree4 Disagree1

I hate spurs mainly because of their transfer activities. I would rather sell him to Birmingham than to spurs after them taking walker back and then selling us Hutton on then giving us that tool jenas. Then again mcleish wanted them

Agree1 Disagree1

Mate, you can't blame Spurs for looking to offload poor players and wanting to keep hold of the good ones
We were stupid enough to buy Hutton when everyone other than Mcleish and Randy knew he was useless
We should follow their example by keeping hold of Benteke (atleast for another year)
