Even though we earned less this year from our final league position, the finances don't look too bad. We posted a 4 million loss with the 10th best turnover (111.2 million) in the Premiership proving that the clubs other revenue streams are compensating for our league position. So in theory we are an attractive prospect for potential buyers, especially with the massive boost from the TV rights coming soon.

Anybody too upset about Cleverly reportedly signing for Everton over us? Played well towards the end of the season but I don't think it's really a big deal, shouldn't be hard to replace

Not really, and we certainly don't want to be sucked into a personal terms battle and have him on ridiculous wages.

Hi villan.
Not at all, I don't like him and never have, he is a bit reckless for me and lacks a that bit of quality you expect from a midfielder with his experience.
Gary Gardener should be given a chance, scores goals as well.
Not saying he is the fix but you never know.

Did i read somewhere that if we wanted to sign him we would have to pay £7mil? Even tho he would have been out of contract?

Until Big Ben hands in his request he still our player, why are us as fans always thinking when a bid comes in for our best players that they need to be sold I don't understand it, right some will point out young, downing, milliner, as examples but each of them wanted to leave for champions league football, so now we are saying if Big Ben goes bring in lambert, Austin, or inigs surely we can do better than any of them 2 aren't proven and the other has spent a season sitting on Liverpool's bench with them playing a winger up front instead, Big Ben has massive potential another drogba in my opinion my are we aiming so low is this what we expect of our club, surely these are the type of players we need to build around Big Ben, Delph, Grelish, how can the club be sold with no star names, with broadcasting deals now and a few big names on the team sheet every week there should be no problem in selling the club we need to keep hold of our better players and build around them, I just hope timmy can talk them into giveing him 1 season to see how things go for him, Rant Over

He has said that he wants to go, in an interview where he thought it was a pvt conversation.
And all 3 are proven prem goal scorers.

But your right, let's keep a player when he doesn't want to be here, let's keep him right up until the day before the transfer window closes, so we can get that extra 2m but no time to spend a penny.
We need to be proactive. Not stupid.

I fully understand what you mean we can't keep letting big names go or we'll never grow but let's face it Benteke is going. He's done nothing in recent interviews to show he's happy where he is and pretty much stated that Kismet will sort out a move. If a bid comes in and hits the release clause he'll be straight out and to be honest fair play to the lad. He's kept us up with his goals for a couple of seasons and villa will take forever if ever to reach Champions League which is what he wants. He's earned his big move so all we can do is thank him for his service and wish him the best. The club will survive, even though it's heart breaking to see Villa as a stepping stone club.

Spot on Flackie, totally agree mate.
We all need to stop moaning about how we finished the season and how poor some players are in the squad, we are safe end off, place our trust in Sherwood.
Make no mistake we would be a championship side now if the previous management were still in place, that alone should encourage us to give Tim our full backing
Let him build his own side and keep the players that want to stay, if they want out It is no good keeping them, this thing about Benteke will keep coming back time and time again.
This will go against the grain with some but getting 32.5 mill for Benteke would surely help us put two or three quality players in place for next season, Austin or his like would be a good start
There is usually no smoke without fire, and my guess is Benteke wants out, if that’s the case let him go ASAP, It’s a shame but it is what it is.

Thank you Dave.
Just wish we could be positive.

Just look at Southampton this season - They were pegged by many for relegation when a lot of their stars went, but with the right investments their team is stronger than ever. If Benteke wants to go and the buyout is met then there is not much the club can do anyway. If no one stumps up the cash for him, he stays and we keep our best player. I'm not going to say its win-win because new signings are always a risk but we should be positive until (if) Sherwood gives us reason not to be.

I agree again Flackie mate, I am very positive to be honest.
If a man can come in and transform a team that had been coached to become totally ineffective and clueless then he deserves some credit and support.
I have no doubt whatsoever that we will become a much better outfit under Sherwood, I am not saying champions league in 12 months, but a steady progression towards top 6
