Anyone think we should bring back ash young?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

After all the boos he has got from the fans every time we have played Man U I don't think he would want to come back. Also at at least 100k a week I don't think we would want to pay the wages when we could have 4 players at 25k a week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not in any way!

Agree0 Disagree0

We need an old head in the middle of the park to control and encourage the players. let's forget this crap about youngsters, they are all in their 20's and by today's standards this is not young. Not even Ash Young. He is selfish and has a huge ego and that is what is not needed at VP.

If Lambert and Lerner and Faulkner plus any others can't see this then perhaps we should consider a wholesale change throughout the club.

There have been enough reality checks for everybody involved to be aware of and they have had time to change.

PL is not a bad manager but it appears that he may be following instructions from above and unless these change we ain't going anywhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Marc Albrighton goes on loan name me one of PL buys except benteke who has played as well when not injured

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes we do need someone in the middle of the park to control and encourage the players but who can we attract currently other than a mercenary type who would want a massive pay day which has got us to this in this trouble in the first place. We are not the top side delusional fans think we still are at the moment or the last few seasons, so players don’t want to come to a possible relegation battle like last season. But with the players we have got so far we have done exceptionally well with a lot more points on the board than last season. It has been hard for Lambert as he has not been able to get his main midfield targets but has had to rethink and take the risk and buy cheaper players who ‘do a job’ but not the exceptional class we want or need. Hopefully the rebuild continues and maybe in Jan Lambert will attract his man or men we didn’t in the summer, purse strings allowed. So let's all have a bit of realism here and support the team and manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. I can't believe people know more about the villa team than Lamberts who is there every training session and no what he has got and what he can spend I think people need to become a bit more realistic about villa these days

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think it's a case of fans not being realistic about "Villa these days"
The problem is that we all realise what that that new found realism means i. e sub standard cheaper players and a relegation battle. What exactly is the plan these days? Lerner, now more than ever, needs to speak up

Agree0 Disagree0

Mendax agree, I would rather 1 quality player than 6 poor players I include kozak villajk

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't actually fault many of lamberts signings.7 million for benteke is a steal and he's done many more et lowton westwood bacuna vlaar bringing back Guzan and a few more so let's not start getting on his back about the signings just yet

AVFCLEGEND

Agree0 Disagree0

Lowton westwood are one season wonders, Guzan benteke great, no one else is class

Agree0 Disagree0

I may be being a little glass half empty but what about Bennett, Kozak, El Ahamadi?
Vlaar has been a liability at times and Westwood's talents have been hugely exagerrated
The jury is still out on Tonev.

Agree0 Disagree0

A little glass empty is how those quality players are looking at us so they don't want to come to Villa Park. They want Chump League football or 50k + a week which we are not going to pay any more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Simply going back to an earlier post about needing an older head. Just one signing could alter all of the problems that we identify. The players are not "kids" they are full grown men and quite able to complete the role that Lambert asks of them. let's ignore this "youngster" claim and face the facts, there is no one to control our team on the pitch. I go back many years and look at many teams that have been successful and they have always had an outstanding midfield player. Imagination and style, matched to other players industry, unsung but doing a job. Mortimer was our imagination in 1981, but he had Bremner alongside. Yes I know he had a forward line that was very good, however if the midfield failed they also failed.

One player is all we need. Who this man is I don't know but if Lambert wants to move forward he should be ready to move in January by identifying that player already and be prepared to pay real money to ensure that he wears our colours asap.
Any ideas out there who would be the player to take on this role?

Agree0 Disagree0

Reply to above if that's the case we will eventually go down, we get more support, better ground than Southampton swansea and others above us, RL must let PL buy some class or sell, Liverpool have do much better than us despite wasting about £60000000, cough up leaner the Liverpool owners have backed there manager

Agree0 Disagree0

We are in danger of becoming a club like Wolves or the Baggies
ie chuffed to be in the big league playing with the big kids but in the back of our minds knowing that because of the way the club is structured, in terms of wages etc, there is always the likelihood that we will spend a couple of seasons in the lower leagues
I know it's a very intoxicating idea that we might be able to pluck players from relative obscurity, lead them on some glorious crusade against the top clubs, whilst spending a fraction of their wage bill, lead by a swash buckling no nonsense dour Scotsman. But the truth is, it ain't going to happen or if it does happen, it is not going to last
At some point, we either accept the economic reality of the league we are in and try to devise a way of living with it or we face the consequences. I like it as little as anybody but that is the truth of the matter

Agree0 Disagree0

It takes money to build a squad, time to mold it, and patience to bring it up in quality and imagination to win matches! we have it all coming to us and we are not going to go down ever so to all the tripe above I can only say lol!

Agree0 Disagree0

In reply lol don't mean to be sarcastic but as you said it takes money we don't seem to have, how can you mold poor players, we don't buy quality {money}were dose the imagination come from, you should read Mendax reality villajk

Agree0 Disagree0

What a to---r, "we are not going down ever". Which planet do you come from?
The moon ain't made of cheese.
What most are saying is that we need a bit extra and that bit extra is the pack leader. Midfield maestro, the general, what ever you want to call him, but we need it sooner not later. Lerner wants a prem. side so he must fund the transfer of a infuential play maker. None of us want to watch champs football so something has to happen. Come on Randy, give the fans what they want, a prem side that will hold its own in the top half not fight to stay in the prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you think one class midfield player would make this team you must believe in the fairies

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't compare villa to a club as big as Liverpool

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, we don't just need a midfielder, we need someone class in midfield defense and we definately need a winger. Agbonlahor and Weiman can be unplayable on there day (especially agbonlahor). I think victor Fischer because he can play attacking midfielder or on the wing

Agree0 Disagree0

Villa would be as big as Liverpool we have a better ground, more history. If the team played entertaining football with real class players villa park would be packed

Agree0 Disagree0

The season we would of gone was last season if we where to go down when our squad was the weakest we ever had but now the likes of carruthers grealish getting game time nzogbia stevens hutton given bent to move on and replace, throwing money at something is not answer, what is being done is the best for club for now and the future! Once it allsorted I am sure lerner will open the purse strings and by young quality but until then lambert will keep us in the leauge!

Agree0 Disagree0

In agreement with many, we need 2 quality midfield players, an out and out winger and a top class centre half
With 2 quality midfield players alongside him, I really believe Delph would flourish, so in effect, we would get 3 for 2.
A left back and genuine no 10 wouldn't go amiss either but now I'm being greedy

Agree0 Disagree0

Villa have more history than Liverpool? We have won one European cup. How many have Liverpool won? I think your getting a bit carried away.

Agree0 Disagree0

History did not start in the year1970, villa have more history fact, better ground, a class team and villa park would be full, so a better fan base Fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arguing about the history of clubs is sort of pointless, surely?
What I'm interested in is Villa's future

Agree0 Disagree0

So what did villa do before 1970? Win an occasional fa and league. Liverpool did that to! Also I would argue against the fact that villa have the better fan base as liverpool have fans all around the world

Agree0 Disagree0

So what history do Villa have before 1970?
Check the records.
7 FA cup wins
4 League cup wins.
In the top 4 of all time achievments
Poss. the first major transfer after WW11 ( Stan Lynn)
etc etc etc
What history do LFC have prior to 1970?

Agree0 Disagree0

That was in 100 years we won 7 fa cups. And the league cup is nothing and I'm sure Liverpool won as much as that

Agree0 Disagree0

Prior to 1970 they won F -- A-- {Ed001's Note - really? You are talking complete nonsense, ignorant nonsense. Liverpool won the league title in 1900-01, 1905-06, 1921-22, 1922-23, 1946-47, 1963-64, 1965-66, all of those were prior to 1970, unless I am mistaken. But apart from those 7 league titles, oh and an FA Cup in the 60s too, you are right. This argument is so childish and pathetic.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Ed
I hope that draws a line under this nonsense {Ed001's Note - if I am editing it will as I will just delete posts continuing it. May as well argue over whose dad is bigger, before you ask it is defo not mine!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone know what's happened to Gary Gardner never here is name mentioned

Agree0 Disagree0

It must be hard for the younger players to take when they see poor PL cheap buys play. when they know they are better just a thought

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know they are better when most of them have never played in the premier league? As I've said before I think lambert knows his players more that we do.

well think we played some good stuff sat should have been 3 up at half time shouldn't have moved baker to left back in my opinion he was doing well against lukaku but I think there needs to be a few changes for sat my team would be

guzan
lowton vlaar baker luna
bacuna sylla delph
weimenn benteke gabby

and tell wiemann and gabby its last chance stuff for them because they are not up to standard at minute

let me no wht u think at what your team would be

parker2789

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That teams good, but I would like to see a bit more kodak or helenium before completely putting them out of equation. I would go 4-4-2.

Guzan
Bacuna Vlaar Baker Luna
Tonev Sylla Delph Gabby
Benteke Kozak/Helenius

AVFCLEGEND

Agree0 Disagree0

Guzan
Lowton Vlaar Baker Luna
Delph Sylla Westwood
Bacuna Benteke Weimann

difficult to replace Gabby as Kozak and Helenius would not fit well out wide and Tonev has been a liabilty so far this season.

Any news on NZogbia?

Once again who was out of position for Toffees first goal?

Thats right Clark. A simple repeat of last years problems. He ran to the ball as opposed to staying with his man. How many times last season did we see this happen?

Who was responsible for Toffees second goal?

Thats right, the man that was seen by most as not being good enough for us, Gareth Barry.
I stated that we should have taken him as he would have given us the experiance that is lacking, and he would have been happy to come back. He is no traitor he won a few things with MCFC and that was what he wanted.

Until Lambert gets a player of this qualitjy we are going to struggle.
The bright spot is that 6 of the teams we have played are at the top of the prem.
Now can we beat the also rans before we get dragged into an early relegation scrap.
This is the reality of the situation!
