I'm liking the new look villa with a whole new emphasis on both quality & work rate. still reckon a stable and reliable RB is needed and wouldn't mind seeing the back of baker. I know its only one game and it's preseason but he is to inconsistent to play for us in the BPL.

Baker what a donkey few mins to go gave ball away, 2-2 koziak double, gabby off injured (again) robinson replaced nice set up koziak 2nd, koziak off ayew replace, not long to impress, should of kept Clark on instead subbed for baker who cost us victory but overall was high intensity game we deserved to win easily and very good run out for the lads, I'm sure forest weekend will be more likely our first look at 1st team for season opener :)

Its kozak! Ha baker is a joke, said it before, i went to school with him and he was never that good, just big. How he got scouted over some of the other people there i do not know,

Anyway watched the game last night, as a whole i thought we looked pretty good, new signings done well, amavi bombing down the left was great but needs to work on his passing, gueye looked pretty solid making some good tackles and distributing well, richards from what i saw looked a bit shaky, dithering in possession not giving it early enough and being caught on the ball, but good defensive work overall.
The player that stood out for me though was westwood, passing was top class it seems every time he got the ball he looked to shift it quickly keeping the team ticking over.
Gabby although he's a great guy i wouldn't of played him, seems to have lost his mojo, doesn't try go past players enough anymore, there was a few times he could of taken on a defender and got a shot off but instead he turned back an passed the ball back to the midfield which ended up with nothing.
Looking forward to seeing grealish, gil and okore back from injury!
Oh and before i forget, kozaks looking pretty class! Hope he can pull it off in the prem :)

I really liked the look of Kozak in that wolves match - If he keeps playing like that we will have no problems. I don't think Gabby playing upfront with him is the best option, we were crying out for a number 10 in that match to feed Kozak the ball after his excellent hold up play so I am looking forward to seeing Grealish and Gil get a chance to play in behind him. I didn't think Bacuna looked great, he was good on the ball but his passing was off and his dead balls were tragic. We could do with a really quick RW out on that side to compliment Sinclair on the left.

Needless to say Baker let the side down with that awful pass. He's a solid defender but I don't think he is a good enough technical footballer for the premier league. I was impressed with Clark, Richards (in the air especially) and Amavi. Overall, its looking promising.

Hutton and Bacuna, only 2 players that still remind me of the old villa, horrible crossing from both of them. Richards looked a bit suspect tonight. Clark getting better and better, Amavi is class and Kozak is looking dangerous.

Although the team looks promising with the new signings still think we need 3/4 more in key positions

I'm pleased with the new signings but people thinking we're flush with cash due to takeover are wrong. I'm not saying it's dead but you need to look at the math. £32.5m and £8m for Benteke & Delph with the money saved from sales and wages are huge Delph was on 70k Benteke was on about 75k with no Vlaar on 50k plus all the others leaving. £60m for the new TV rights deal that's £100m plus in the bank without having to spend a penny of Lerner's money.

So spending 9/10/12 on players is good business get 8 players in maybe. Rebuilding the squad.

Wow. What a few days this is turning out to be
Very excited about the French attacking midfield player as it's been a glaring deficiency for us over the last few years and I also like the look of Crespo (I know Youtube is not to be trusted)
Not so keen on Adebayor but hey ho, I think Sherwood has earned the benefit of the doubt as far trusting his judgement goes.
If we are to have Adebayor I would love to see someone like Embolo come in as well
If that were to happen I think I'd start to get very excited

Careful Mendax, we don't want an wet patches or puddles now do we, hahaha

Most things I've seen do suggest TS is still interested in bringing in another striker after Adebayor and i hope it's Embolo too! Only 18 and looks to have all the attributes to be a top player. Also Adebayor brings prem experience so a younger player makes sense. We'll see, looks to be a busy couple of weeks

Another striker , right winger, along with ade and the midfielder we being linked with would have us with a complete balanced squad for the first time in a longtime ! Is herd still with us ?

28 Jul 2015 19:08:22
TS is listening to you Mendax, pulled in a right back with Crespo, new attacking midfielder hopefully soon. Ade strengthing up front. Just tell him we need one more decent striker, and possibly a goal keeper.

I must say I was feeling slightly nervous about the Adebayor signing rumour, however with new developments and a potential loan move rather, I think it makes sense. Considering we have limited funds it is more low risk.

If Ade is shite, TS sherwood can ship him back and try bring in someone else (Maybe in Jan). If we sign an untested foreign striker (Which seems to be all we can afford) if it doesn't work out we are stuck with another long term contract and wages.

But if TS does get some magic out of him I will be well happy, maybe even guide his inexperienced african counterpart Ayew.
(Not that Ade seems like a mentoor) but hey it could work out.

I can't see it as a risk.
He is a proven prem goal scorer. On his day, Defo one of best strikers in the league.
People say he is a bad influence, why?? Because he earns a high wage, which a great deal of he sends home to his home village to help there, or because he feels, once offered this contract, he is with in his rights to sit in it??

I agree the money these guys earn is obscene, but that is the people who pay, not the guys who takes it home's fault.

The 'amazing' business man levy (?) gave him the contract!

If he comes, scores 20+ goals, I'll worship him!!
I bet he will get more goals than Big Ben.

I think he will get more goals than en as well Flackie, if it happens I hope he plays Ayew as a strike partner or just behind Ade.
I am getting very excited about our squad and if the rumours are true about Jordan Veretout we will have filled any gaps caused by Delph and Ben.
Timmy boy is doing just fine, waiting to see who is next ???

I'll be straight down the bookies with that bet once he signs. I think it is a shrewd move with adebayor. This French midfielder looks very good too. Looking up boys.

{Ed007's Note - If Danny Welbeck is the answer I doubt even the good Lord himself would know what the question is!}

The question could only be 'Who would be a better signing for Villa, Welbeck or Bendtner?'

Adebayor set for Villa medical. Villa team could look very different by the end of the week.

It's no wonder Micah Richards unfollowed avfc. All you ever see from our fans is negative talk. We moan about not spending money then we spend now the players we are signing aren't good enough. Since when did we all become scouts? The only reason we aren't going for any big names is because they are all overpriced and half the time divas. Tim wants players who are hungry to succeed, players that want to play for our club and progress not players that think they are too big for Aston villa. I for one happy with our activity so far and think that we should all count our lucky a stars we are actually spending some money. A lot of our fans are like my mrs, no matter what you do it's never good enough. Get behind tim and the boys!!!

I know I'll be called out for this and I know I'm being naieve but would really like to see more proven premiership players brought in the French league is a million miles away from premiership standard and were not even picking up the best that has to offer, I could be wrong and we may have some gems on our hands but even looking at their clips doesn't excite me, (a penalty should not need to be shown in a best of clip!)

Paul I understand what your saying but to put into prospective QPR bought player with PL experience and they got relegated.

Do get me wrong but the PL is the riches league in the world but when it comes to being the best it isn't, proof of that is in the Champions league, where English teams seem to struggle getting to the last 8.

The players that TS has bought in a well picked. I've watched the French league over the years and I can tell you for sure all the players we got from France are really good players. They are smart and strong on the ball, to many times over the last few seasons we've been caught out for being predictable and lacked the quality to unlock teams.

Iam really looking forward to the season now.
