With all the defensive options we have now I can actually see us going to 3 at the back with wingbacks. I think this window has been great in terms of giving us options and strength in depth. I'm slightly concerned we didn't get another striker but we should now have a midfield capable of scoring goals, width to help gestede and Sinclair in a rich vein of form so maybe not all bad

Totally agree. Austin sitting waiting for the call that never came.
It seems that Sherwood was allowed to spend the money in from transfers some £46.5m and then Lerners usual pocket money on top.

I know some will jump up and say "old news" but if Lerner will not open his purse we will always be lacking the ambition of a top 6club. What we want is of no concern to Lerner.
Sherwood got the transfer money self funded from sales plus the amount that PL got every season, £5m,

That is not the action of an ambitious owner.
Sherwood has bought in a lot of players and will no doubt get some success. The defence will be much stronger with Richards in there, Lescott, Ilori, Okore and Clark able to do a job when required. Hutton, Mvani, Cresspo, Bacuna all add to what looks like a capable unit.
If only Sherwod could have got a poacher I believe we could have been really looking towards the top third in the prem.

I still have concerns about Sanchez. Yes, he is good at breaking up play ad winning the ball but he isn't the best at using it once he has won it. Sometimes, his passing is awful and he gives the ball away in dangerous positions.
Admittedly, these were my observation from last year. I haven't seen him as yet this year having been away on holiday.
I am hoping that maybe the new guy from Liverpool could develop into a defensive midfielder. Reports suggest that he is a ball-winning centre back so should be able to adapt. Thoughts?
