Just heard that Delph's decision to stay at Villa was based on the fact that Bill Gates is about to become the new owner of the club, announcement later this week.

Really. (sigh)

I'm going with ellison m8 but hey I hope you are right and it's gates as that makes us even more powerful in terms of money to spend. Someone like gates would not want his name by a mid table struggling team he'd want to win and be the best.

I too have heard Ellison's name mentioned and I am currently trying to find information on this, I know this is not the first time that he has been linked with the position of owner and nothing came from it last time other than a denial which leaves me wondering if this is just wishful thinking.

Isn't bill Gates focused on charity? Giving his money away. why would he spend it on a football team? Just a random name picked out of a hat with no substance.

I heard that Prince William is the mystery new buyer. He is going to keep TS on as coach but he will report to the Duchess of York who will become director of football.

All sounds very positive but I m not happy with the plan to replace the lion on our badge with a corgi.

Ellison, Windsor or Gates, I've just checked out UEFA fair play? If get mega rich owner the capping of what he or she can spend will be quite limited and take a good deal of shrewd business and youth development still? Even if get huge names on free transfers and pay £200k a week wages this will still be chipping away at the capped amount? Can't do what Ambamovich did or a MCFC? We will though be able to build year on year to our limit so really exciting times ahead! Not sure about corgi on the badge though!!!

Ffp has been relaxed to what it was and also if a new owner went to them and said I want to outlay 200 mil into my team and this is my 5 year plan to bring extra sponsors and income in they have said they will give permission to do it so not to scare away new investment.

Apparently Wills is also trying to persuade Prince Phillip to fill the troublesome left back position while the Duke is pondering a move to cash strapped Olympiakos

{Ed007's Note - You'd think at his age Phil would prefer a move back home to Germany.}

Really glad Delph is staying, mostly for the stability of the club.
He still has to improve his game in some areas for me, he might just get the help and direction he needs from the new man gueye, it should free him up a bit.
Hope it all starts to come together now.

Lol Delph is a god again now he's staying. Everyone was saying he was no good and a rubbish player a few hours ago. Come on people us true villa fans are better than that.!!

12 Jul 2015 07:21:20
Comments just fuelled by disappointment I feel, I think most true fans view him as a player worth keeping and I for one am pleased he is staying and feel sure that too is the thoughts of all Villa fans, things just seem to get said at times of stress that maybe should not be, I think we are all a bit guilty of that at times.

Statement from Fabian Delph himself on @AVFCOffical Twitter account
Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph has confirmed he will be remaining at the club and leading the team into the new season.

He said: "I'm aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight.

"I'm not leaving. I'm staying at the football club and I can't wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club."

And to think we all believed his words. What a load of sh. e.
If he knew that he wanted to leave, why couldn't just be honest?
Its worth remembering that at the time he uttered those words he signed a new contract for £55 k per week. A huge pay rise.
Never again will i believe a single word any footballer says.
What a Judas.

I agree, he should of gone for nothing, not stayed and helped us remain in prem. we should be in championship with all the loyal players, he did the club a huge favour in signing, yes he benefited, but not as much as the club does.
Get a grip and grow up.
Chance to win a medal, Europe football?? Wouldn't anyone??
You all say he won't get in team?? What a fool he is to believe in his own ability, what a fool to think he will force his way into midfield.
Jesus. Take off the 'villa and only villa' glasses and look at the bigger picture

You'd never notice Flackie
I know what you mean though mate
I don't think it's his going that has upset people.Like you said, he clearly did us a favour in signing, thus ensuring we got a fee when we lost him
What's got under peoples skin is the "band of brothers " nonsense that he then spouted. He didn't have to do that and I suspect he now regrets he did

11 Jul 2015 16:33:15
And he stays! Well done delph

11 Jul 2015 17:33:55
Never saw that coming
It does make you wonder whether Delph knows more about the takeover than the rest of us ?

11 Jul 2015 18:39:54
That's what I think mendax. I think benteke will commit next as well with both getting a new deal and quite a bit more of the old dollor. We will all be told soon. Takeover is still very much on or we would of been told otherwise by now. I think next week will be when all is revealed and a couple more players in then all will look on the up.

I just hope TS has a plan because we need some signings now. We had a small squad anyway. With everyone that has left. granted most of them 'deadwood' our wage bill must be minimal now.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is a pity that you have so little respect for the Aston Villa players that you need to refer to them as "dead wood".}

11 Jul 2015 11:17:29
Haha. in all fairness most of them was only there because of the situation villa was in. An still are in. Trying to cut the wage bill etc. When I say deadwood might sound abit harsh. but most of the player we have sold didn't do enough. so yeah surplus to requirement. I think TS is doing the right thing. We need build a whole new structure!

12 Jul 2015 08:04:17
I can see where your coming from Fordy and I don't think that the term you used was intended to be disrespectful. It's a term that is pretty well known in it's meaning, at least where I'm from.

"Dead Wood"
people in a group or organization who are not useful any more and who need to be removed.

Since the players we used last year only just kept us up I suppose your right in saying that many of them are not useful anymore.

So Delph is moving on, no chance of him getting into that team he can only pass a ball 10 yards doesn't sore enough and not strong enough in a tackle where will he fit in with them, give him 2 seasons and he will be looking to leave,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Jul 2015 14:39:55
He's on £5.000,000 a year. that's all that matters to todays players.

10 Jul 2015 23:48:51
now we will get the no loyalty posts let's go and buy some new players who want to play for villa loyal ones??? really ha, there's only one loyal villan even he been slagged off time for him to go don't work hard enough etc etc and that is gabby that's loyalty he is villa through n through so if anyone is expecting to go and buy loyalty dream on. sad fact money talks who on here wouldn't move to a new job if the money was right?? vtid from the old 3rd div to the prem and beyond!!
