What do you the Aston Villa fans rate of Carlos Cuellar

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Cuellar is a good hard working footballer, gets his head down and does what is asked of even if it's not in his natural position. Nothing fancy, good old fashioned centre half. I think, given 10 or so games at centre half and he would prove he is as good if not better than both our current preferred centre halves I think am should take a gamble and play cc and jc together at the back, pace and fitness with no nonsense. Dunnes concentration levels aren't good and is found wanting if turned by a decent forward at pace.

Never understood why MON paid alot of money for him then played him out of position. . .

I too are now starting to worry about the transfers of what is coming into Villa Park. AY has gone and now SD wants out. Thats fine but with the orginal squad in a somewhat poor state, we need the strengthen, replace and buy in quality, so that we do not have the same situation as large parts of last season, looking behind us rather than in front Looked at the names being listed and there are some good players being mentioned but unfortunately we have no signings as of yet, this to me is a worry, especially when we still have not off loaded EH, MON has a lot to answer for with some of his signings. Lets get it done and get it done quickly and for how ever many seasons now our best players leave and we leave until the last minute. I woul love to see Defoe, Jenas, Parker, Given, Krancar all good players BUT not Dann, Jerome, Hammer, Nzogbia, Cole there no good and we need better players at the club than them. So come Villa get it sorted, good quality players, mixture of old and new with additions of Albrighton etc, their the future. . . .AVFC4EVA

Generally agree with the sentiment about the lack of transfers, is this becoming a clear sign of either our inability to attract the calibre of player we need or apathy on the part of the management ? I hope neither, but I do disagree regarding the quality of Dann, N'zogbia and Cole. I would be more than happy to see them at VP next season. Apart from anything else new players need time to adjust to a new club and teammates let's get our deals done now, we all know that SD will go and there will be cash in the pot. Whether RL and AM want to spend it may be a defining decision. But as Birmingham, West Ham & Blackpool will testify the rewards in the Championship are nowhere near those in the Premiership, so come on let's see some decent signings that the loyal fans can get behind and that give us a greatr chance of getting back to where we deserve to be, around the elite of the premiership. I've never posted before but feel compelled to by people slating a possible signing of Scott Parker. He would be absolutely amazing for us, him and Makoun in the engine room would make us a tough, hard team to play. Would also give other midfielders a bit of licence as would always be cover. If it is an option, get it done asap Mcleish
Given would also be great, was best keeper in the prem 3 years ago. We need a rb but not convinced by Hutton. A good commanding CB is a must, and i'd like Clarke to be given more of a go. Think Warnock deserves another chance as well.
Delph and Bannan are good enough to play regularly as well, so CM looks good. Would like to see someone come in to play in the hole, Diego would be amazing but won't happen. Albrighton and Nzogbia are pretty decent options out wide, think another wide man for rotation is needed, but Gabs can play out there as well if needed.
Bent is clearly brilliant at prem level and we should try to work out how best to get him the ball to score, without Ash being greedy he may even get more without him. Would love to see Sturridge on loan, but again won't happen realistically.
Get rid of Dunne, Ireland (i know not been given a crack but clearly doesn't want to play for us), Downing (for 18mil +), Cuellar or Collins. Bring in, Given, a rb, a cb, Parker, Der Hammer, Nzogbia and hopefully a marquee signing as am od striker

Ireland is being given a chance at Villa under Mcleish so he could turn out to be good for Villa He was player of the year 2 seasons ago and he can play in the hole
Ireland has also stated he wants to play for Villa now and is buying a property near B'ham.

Personally abit worried bout buying Parker due to his age With Villa's fast paced counter attacking style i feel he would only last 2-3 seasons but also feel he'll go to Spurs as he's previously stated he wants to stay in London But Jenas would be good to

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenas has been tried and failed for England. Parker has fought his way in to the team and was player of the year last season. Even if we get 2 good seasons out of him, very much worth 5 mil.
Ireland had a good season 3 years ago now. One good season. If he really wants to play for us then sure, give him a go. But would you be comfortable not buying anyone and having to wait til Jan? If he is anything like last season then he will be a liability.
Also, they are 2 completely different players. We have a new manager so no doubt our tactics will change. Without Ash, and soon to be Downing i think a complete reshuffle will occur. Therefore 2 combative midfielders who can make Villa Park a tough place to come and win could be just what we need.
Also, Parker is 30, Jenas 28/29. 1/2 years is worth it for a much better player. Would you turn down Lampard at 31, or Gerrard at 30? All England Internationals. Or would Barry be told to do one now at 30? Age means nothing if the fitness and passion is there, which it undoubtedly is with PArker
