The Bundesliga are playing still home and away so why not the premiership?,
But in my opinion we should still not even consider playing at all at this time.
Sure the premiership and the FA will give us a sensible outcome😁😁.

Mainbob 11

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with what happens in Germany and not viable in England as the grounds cannot be policed to keep away the moronic fans that will gather at the grounds.}

1.) 08 May 2020 15:26:00
I have lived in Germany and I have seen German moronic fans at close quarters.
England and Germany have the same issues regarding fans.
But we will see what our powers at be decide what to do.
I agree with purslow on this issue but having said that we will still not stay up mainly down to our defending all season.
I predicted a few days before I went into hospital that we will get relegated on goal difference.

2.) 08 May 2020 17:40:48
To be honest I am at the stage where I just want a decision even if that means we end the season as it stands and we end up getting relegated so be it there are certain things that are more important than football and this is one of those things. However I think that the money men will get there way and the season will be ‘concluded’ in some way.

05 May 2020 15:51:43
Gordon taylor wants us now to play less minutes on the pitch to get us through the season 😁😁
Heard Simon Jordan rip him apart with his suggestion.
I am a fan of Jordan who calls a spade a spade.
Talks a lot of sense compared to many like cundy and Durham.
But you get the feeling now that anything is possible with there ideas of how to finish the season.
Beggars belief what other suggestions are put forward!

Mainbob 11

{Ed002's Note - It is not a suggestion that has been or will be considered by the PL.}

1.) 05 May 2020 16:16:15
I should hope not.
But to even think of it in first place shows taylor should be moved on .

2.) 05 May 2020 18:18:51
If true mainbob see my earlier comment about clown school 😁.

3.) 05 May 2020 19:25:02
Yeah totally agree with you about Jordan Bob, the man talks a lot of sense, and like you say, he says it as it is.

04 May 2020 13:57:36
So now we have another leader of a country saying drinking vodka and having a lot of sauna baths to beat the coronavirus 😁😁
Must be a good mate of trump I imagine!

1.) 04 May 2020 15:46:07
Give them a bowler hat each Bob et voila, Laurel and hardy reborn.

03 May 2020 10:50:31
Whatever next?
Now stories in papers saying going to Australia to play out the matches remaining😁😁.

Why not go the whole hog and hire a rocket to Mars? .
Just put a end to season full stop.

Straws clutching at, now rearrange that to make a sentence. Desperation to get the gravy train, boat, plane, rocket, bicycle whatever rolling again. Let's take the infection risk from this country and pee off and move it elsewhere. It seems like clown school has had a really good turn out this year their parents must be so proud.

2.) 03 May 2020 11:39:42
BSc 1st class honours all round in numptiness for all the greed merchants that won’t let go of this.
When’s graduation day Moose?

3.) 03 May 2020 12:16:41
I am gobsmacked, lost for words, and to be honest, I could not give a rats arse what they do anymore.
No I am not a defeatist, or pessimist, I am sensible, the two greatest people to grace this earth taught me that, my Parents xx.
The truth of the matter is, they fail to see the biggest picture in recent history.
The picture has been painted by mankind, and sticking plasters will not hide the wounds.
SHOCKING AND STUPID.

4.) 03 May 2020 12:38:49
On Friday the Premier League stated that this season must be completed to protect the integrity of the Premier League.
I would like to know how their idea of playing games at neutral grounds is protecting its integrity, when their own rules state:

“There are 20 clubs in the Premier League. During the course of a season (from August to May) each club plays the others twice (a double round-robin system), once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents', for 38 games”.

It is obvious that if each club doesn’t play 19 games at home and 19 games away the premier League are altering the rules of the competition and making it unfair. Where is the integrity in that?

{Ed002's Note - The rules are of no consequence. The objective remains to complete the season if possible, else they need to agree the means to completing the season. Making it void is not an option.}

5.) 03 May 2020 12:52:49
Got a feeling many players will not want to finish the season.
When the government make there next step and still say we will be keeping a social distance how can you play football then? .
The world has gone mad in my opinion.
I have seen at close quarters what this does to families who lose there loved ones yet the powers to be see it imperative to finish the season.

6.) 03 May 2020 13:01:55
Why is it not an option Ed?

{Ed002's Note - You withdraw and payback this season's prize money and a lot of clubs will go under.}

7.) 03 May 2020 13:05:40
Money it’s a gas,
grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
New car caviar four star daydream,
think I’ll buy me a football team.

Apparently they have it playing in the background during Premier league meetings.

{Ed002's Note - You would be OK to "void" the season and have Villa payback all of the prize money they have so far then?}

8.) 03 May 2020 13:09:36
So you are saying that, clubs survive on prize money.

{Ed002's Note - I don't understand.}

9.) 03 May 2020 13:14:31
If there is the slightest risk to human life, absolutely Ed.
There are far more important things than football, in fact I’m going off it more as each day goes by mate.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect you have failed to grasp what is going on. Nobody is suggesting playing games before it is safe. The objective is to play the games when safe with a target completion of July 31. If that cannot be done then something else needs to happen but that decision has not been made yet. Right now the Premier League want to find a way to complete the season and they are aware of options available if they can't. There are also aware of a further potential major issue (a player or player contracticting COVID-19 at a behind closed doors match forced by the Premier League - collective culpability or just the clubs who voted for it in respect of any legal claims) which is why they are reluctant to make any statement or allow the matter to be discussed at this time.

Spain (RFEF) have decided that they will end the season, if the games cannot all be completed (whether they restart or not), by drawing a line across now, not awarding the title, and settling European places based on current positions (with the exception of the Copa del Rey place which if played will go to the winners else to Athletic Bilbao if it can't). The critical point is that if the season restarts but cannot be completed, the results revert to the standings at the start of the suspension - and the results of the games played after the restart would be voided - this is controversial as far as La Liga are concerned and they have a counter proposal that says if the games restart and then stop, those positions when it stops for a second time should stand. But the decision belongs to RFEF and typically they would overrule La Liga. Whilst they want to complete the league, they too are going to draw a June 30 line across if the games cannot start on May 28 and complete by then – although they have proposed a back stop of the end of July (but nobody wants to use it and clubs don’t wish to exercise it). They have not addressed promotion and relegation completely at this time but seem open to the two up/none down principle as others are considering.

The "Bundesliga" plan if they cannot complete the season: draw a line across; no champions; European places on current standings; top two promoted down through the leagues; no relegation this season but addition one relagated next two seasons. The approach has a lot of support.

The Netherlands have ended the season without Champions, although France has gone the other way.

Belgium has gone roughly down the "Bundesliga" approach but have assigned Champions (there was a lead that could not be caught but play offs were wiped out - so Club Brugge are champions and all of the other sides agreed when it was put to the required vote). This was driven by the simple desire that it could not all be completed by June 30 based on advice. There remains an issue that at least three first tier teams do not meet the criteria for a Pro license - and it is true of a many of the second tier sides. This could result in a reshuffle of the leagues.}

10.) 03 May 2020 14:00:44
April 1st mate think we've missed this years but I think Sky may be showing a highlights package for only £44.99 just go to fredcarnocharliecaroni.com 😁.

11.) 03 May 2020 14:01:11
Thing is ed we are in a situation which is completely alien to what we have faced worldwide.
Rules are there I understand that but also rules are also there to be broken in what we are experiencing at this present time.
For me this is a world war 3.
But difference is they are invisible to us humans to fight against.
Not until a vaccine is found will people feel more safer.
Football is a sport which can be replaced if needed.
Peoples lives are far more important to address now .
If I was a footballer I would be scared to death in playing now even in training.
Especially if they have a wife and kids.

{Ed002's Note - Nobody is suggesting that anyone will be forced to play in unsafe conditions. Personally I think it will likely not be possible to end the season.}

12.) 03 May 2020 14:05:21
Blimey Ed, I wasn’t expecting a response like that, but I appreciate it, very informative, and thanks for taking the time.
Is there any particular reason, why the cut off for points would revert back, with the scenario where the season is stopped for a second time, and can’t be completed? That does seem weird to say the least.
Also, your response was very informative but you didn’t explain the Italian stance.
If you’ve got time Ed, would appreciate it if you could inform us of the position there as well mate.
Personally though, I think the season should be cancelled forthwith, apart from anything else, as a mark of respect for all those people who have lost their lives, and indeed the families of all those people.
Thanks again Ed.

{Ed002's Note - That will block agreement in Spain, the position of the authorities is "we drew a line across, we tried and failed, so we will go back the the last known point". The Italians want to try to finish the season but they have issues with some clubs saying that they may not want to. Clubs in Italy have had multiple infected players. So right now they are a little up in the air.

What do you mean by cancelled?}

13.) 03 May 2020 14:24:14
Hypothetical I know, but apart from the damage caused etc, what would the football league decide on, if China dropped the bomb on us?

{Ed002's Note - So what is the "football league".}

14.) 03 May 2020 14:31:28
Like virtually everybody else I think the season should end now, but after reading your responses, It would seem that’s unlikely to happen.
There are a few posts from earlier on today Ed, that have disappeared, just to let you know.

{Ed002's Note - No, I am not saying it won't end, what I am saying is that the objective is to complete the season. If not there needs to be an explanation as to how it can be ended as fairly as possible - and that does not currently exist in England.}

15.) 03 May 2020 14:48:56
Ignore what I said about the missing posts, Ed, I was looking in the wrong place, my apologies .

16.) 03 May 2020 15:18:06
I'm hoping that things become clearer after next Thursday's COBRA meeting and we'll be a bit more informed about plans to ease the lockdown or not as the case may be. This information may lead to a more coherent decision from the various countries FAs and could be why they're playing their cards close to their chests or I'm hoping that's the case. However they have to make the right noises to appease the money men at the moment. Not condoning what they're saying as I personally think cancelling is the safer sensible thing to do, just trying to get my head around their thinking though will probably all boil down to what we're all thinking, cold hard cash.

{Ed002's Note - The COBRA meeting has no impact on the FAs of other countries who are generally making decisions and not keeping the cards close to their chests. It is not about the money. What do you mean by "cancelling". It seems to me that the Aston Villa fans, en masse, have no grasp of the situation at all.}

17.) 03 May 2020 16:37:07
Ed I would of thought that they're being guided by government advice over whether its safe or not to return in this country and others and for cancelling just meant voided and I think we're confused by the differing decisions across the globe concerning other leagues. And as a whole we're concerned of the human cost should sport return before it's completely safe to do so.

{Ed002's Note - There are discussions with advisors from within sport and Government. There is no option to "void" the season - none whatsoever. You don't need to be confused by solutions elsewhere - they are of no consequence at all. You seem to be completely unable to grasp what has happened and what is continuing to happen, simply puring out the same thing about making the season "void" - and I suspect you don't seem to understand what that means. May be better to simply drop the subject on the Aston Villa page.}

18.) 03 May 2020 16:50:47
Ps in regards to the COBRA meeting it was only in reference to this country but obviously other countries have their own version and they've taken the advice offered.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe you don't understand that either.}

19.) 04 May 2020 08:54:22
We should be asking the powers that be at UEFA, the FA and Premier League to openly discuss a solution for ending the season in a fair and viable way.
The preference should remain to finish the season if possible, but with no clear end in sight for the situation it is foolhardy for them to have not openly considered contingency plans.

What a absolutely ridiculous thing to say from trump with all the deaths in the world about the idea of drinking bleach and the like to cure the virus.
The man is a total buffoon.
The most powerful man on the planet.
Spends more time on twitter than anything else.

Whelan is a dickhead as usual where villa are concerned.
As for the name of the coach both funny and very unfortunate.
But there are many people with unfortunate names to carry on through life.
My mate at school many many years ago had a surname of gotobed! .
He was always sleeping in the class?
Wonder why.?
Also heard today 1 brighton player tested positive with virus.
Come the right time with meeting tomorrow talking about the premiership starting time!

You would think any sensible people would take a seriously close look on what is happening in Germany and think that we just can not start our game till 100% safe.

But as moose quite rightly said don't hold your breath on our actions.
Money is far more important to them unfortunately.
Very sad but very true.

Backbone is sadly missing from this team.
The only game I thought we defended better was the 1-1away to Leicester in caraboo cup.
If we defended like that we would not be where we are now.
Shambolic is a word I would class our defending. all season.
