Any thoughts on Kongolo from Huddersfield?

He is supposed to be a useful player, nothing guaranteed is it.

Problem is we are not sure he would fit in with our style, our staff and our fans, he might have attitude who knows.

With Tyrone Mings we know that is not an issue, he is a good player, he loves the club, he loves the fans, and we love him, a great recipe.

If it works why on earth would you try to fix it.

On Tyrone mings, he looked good in the championship but we're stepping up another few levels and the one thing of concern is with how he deals with players with outright pace, not sure there, neither was Eddie howe, as for Kongolo, the fact he was prepared to go from a top team to Huddersfield for game time and in a team that had no recognised good defenders says to me he likes a challenge, showed he could play and wasn't a prima donna, to me that says he's worth a punt, a few have said there are similarities to van dyck with him, so I'd rather that than similar to Elphick!

Tyrone Mings is nothing like Elphick, and is not short on pace, who have you been watching.

And yes we are stepping up, that is what players do, they grow into premiership players from youth teams and lower league teams.

Mings came to us for game time, and for the challenge, watch and listen to his videos.

Fair points there Villadave, remember mings was at a premier club and still wasn't a regular in Bournemouth's team, so maybe Eddie howe thought his overall game wasn't enough, of what I've seen of mings he's prone to making rash challenges, but we all see things differently, for me Kongolo is a class above mings but again, just my opinion, if we get mings I hope he's a monster for us.

fair play to you D. ellis.
It is all opinions, I think you will find Eddie Howe didn't like Mings request to play centre back, that coupled with his injuries messed things up a bit, hense the lack of apearances.

Huddersfield had the second worst defensive record in the Premiership last season and Kongolo played in 32 of their 38 games. Mings made a few daft mistakes where he gave the ball away in dangerous areas but that should be something that can be coached out of him. On balance, I’d rather have Mings.

I don’t think they’d be brought in as direct competetion for each other. And as pointed out how many goals did we concede with Gueye in front of the back4? Where is he now?
