Looking forward to the new season, first time in CL great for the club and us fans. That said I am concerned re our transfer business to date. We have done some decent business in terms of strengthening the squad as well as reducing the average age, my concern is that having sold Luiz and Diaby we have lost 20 goals and 19 assists and haven't replaced them. Onana is a decent player but his strength will be shielding the back four he may get the odd goal but will not replace Luiz in terms of goals and assists. Whilst Philogene has developed at Hull Its a lot to expect him to give us the return Diaby did with his limited PL experience. We have approximately a month left of the window I am hoping we sign a quality attacking midfielder plus another wide man, and depending whether Duran settles down another striker.

A pretty reasonable set of observations there. I think we've filled out the squad with a higher volume of young potential and think Oana will turn out to be a very good signing, but I too worry a little about us from an offensive perspective. Suspect it might be a season or two before we see Philogene reach the required level and I'm personally not convinced illing-Junior is going to add an awful lot (Obviously hope I'm wrong), so definitely hoping our best and biggest business is yet to come.
Again though, perspective is required, we're now worried about our ability to get top six and do well in the champions league rather than wishing we were a top ten club again, so have every reason to trust the club.
There are now 8 really strong clubs competing at the top of the prem and we're one of them. 3rd to 8th will be a bit of a lottery, but we have a ticket. Fingers crossed for a sprinkling of stardust on the squad and a strong end to the summer!

It might gain momentum in the wrong direction. According to the BBC, Atletico have offered Felix to City on loan as part of a deal for Alvarez. Hope not ?

Skysports saying Alvarez is straight cash, and while they are annoyingly anti Villa, they are pretty reliable when it comes to transfer information.

I agree re Hermoso, I wouldn’t be too disappointed with David either, although I have always favoured Patrick Schick. The one I think we should really go all out for would be Eze, I am not convinced re Felix’s consistency, and I have never been in favour of signing someone who clearly wants to be elsewhere.

The way I’m thinking about if we were to get Felix is if we had him for just 1 season whether a buy or loan, is he could (a big could) take us to that next level which is cementing a top 4 place &/or win a trophy so no worries there, for his part if we achieve that then it’s a win win for him as he’d either stay or he’s in the shop window for a future move that appeals to him, he’d be a fool not to try us for the sake of his own career imo ??♂️

I have no issues with a player waiting to see if a Barcelona or a Madrid are going to follow up their interest, any player in the world wants to play for those clubs.
If he was waiting on a Spurs or Newcastle, that is when I'd walk away and leave them stranded.

Agree with lots of this. Done some good business in midfield, and got some promising youth. I like Maatsen but did we need another LB? We need a RB and CB. Mings will take time and tbh I don't think he's reliable enough; makes too many mistakes. But I worry about our lack of proven quality up top. Felix is a massive gamble imo. He was awful at Chelsea. Unai rates him, and given time could well get the best; but we don't really have time. I like David; he could play with Ollie. That Georgian lad (can't remember name) would have been good. Interested to see what Monchi and Unai are really working on; wouldn't be surprised if something is going on under the radar.

Today's change of tack by the BBC is that Atletico will now offset the £81.5m signing of Alvarez by selling Samu Omorodion to Chelsea. So Felix plus Jack back on loan would do nicely.
