It looks like profit and sustainability rules are set to change in the summer to bring us in line with UEFA. What that means if I am reading the proposals correctly we will only be able to spend 70% of income on transfers and salaries. I am sure clubs will be given time to get in line but even so given our income is currently £217 million that would mean we would only have £147 million to spend.Our current salary spend is circa £190 million that will present the club with significant challenges. Like it or not until we can increase our revenue streams I don't see how we can be anything other than a club that on occasion has to sell some of its star players to remain within the rules unfortunately.

Yes that would be great but this isn’t Football Manager you have to have takers for these players so I agree that we can let Lenglet and Zaniolo return to parent clubs, we can sell Dougie but we aren’t going to get £120 million particularly if clubs know we need to sell for Profitability and sustainability purposes. Digne and Carlos are on big money so unless they go to the Saudi Pro League I can’t see too many parties being interested. The other thing is you identify about 9 players we can release we would have little or no back up to the first XI if we did that. Our approach needs to be a little more nuanced than this.

The salary cap isn't 70%, that's the proposed end point with a gradual reduction year on year.
The current cap is 85% I think which is pretty much achievable just through Lenglet and Zaniolo returning.
Selling Digne as is rumoured gets us there comfortably although not convinced Sousa is ready to be a main back up yet.
