Interesting read in Footballfancast, comparing Cash and the new right back signing Nedeljkovic. The stats are definitely eye opening and Cash is a average to poor performer versus his peers in the same position. I didn't find anything I read surprising and many on here have voiced their concerns that we need a better right back. Looking at the comparison in the article the sooner we get the kid in the better.

I agree that Cash hasn't set the world alight this season, but he has been a functional component of a team competing for top 4 which is a sign that whilst he's no casual, he's certainly doing a decent job. We all want continous improvement in the quest for perfection and I certainly hope the new signing turns out to be the next Cafu, but the article comparing his stats in a inferior league to a player performing to an 'average' level in probably the hardest league in the world doesn't really tell us much.

DBS if you read the Article it compared Cash against his peers in the premier league in the same position and he fared poorly.I agree he does a job and at times more than adequate, however if we want to progress and compete with the "big boys" we need a quality right back.

Agreed on that point and I dare say a few others positions would need an upgrade if we really wanted to cement ourselves as regular contenders in the top 6, but all the more credit to Emery for getting the maximum out of the squad he has.
The article in question actually does both, compares Cash against immediate peers and then compares his stats with those of the new lad, just pointing out that that particular comparison is ultimately flawed. I'm sure plenty of other full backs all over Europe have favourable stats in their respective leagues, but transferring that into premiership football is a big leap.

Good debate DBs and at the moment we need Cash, I just wish he would play forward more and put in decent crosses. I fully appreciate Emery dictates his forward play, mainly because when he loses the ball in advanced positions he can't recover quick enough and leaves us exposed, hence the need for an upgrade.
