Am I still supposed to be being patient and trust in the silence, or should I start being concerned that we are still short of a top flight DMF and a prolific striker with just 11 days to kick-off? ??

Trust the process.

Personally I’m concerned, I don’t think couthinho is going to cut it either, much prefer Buendia in the team, no sign of fringe players leaving either which suggests no more incomings. unless we sign 2 more high calibre players I think we are in for another mediocre season. we may have strengthened but have we strengthened more than the teams we want to compete with? i'm not to sure we have

Why spend millions on players when we have the youth coming through and showing the seasoned pros how its done in pre season? Beggers belief that some on here who was saying they want to give youth a chance then in yhe next card want to pay 30 million or so on a player that's going to keep them out.

Daz, I am one of the ones who want us to spend on a striker and midfielder so I suppose to a certain extent guilty as charged, but I don’t want the signings to replace the kids it’s to give them time to hopefully develop fully into premier league players who can sustain performance over 38 games. For me signing the right central midfielder to allow Iregobunum to grow into the defensive midfielder role would be sensible we can then release the likes of Mavellous, Sanson, AEG. Similarly with Archer we have already let Wesley go, we can move Davis on to make space for a top notch centre forward. I don’t think signing big name players always has to be at the expense of the kids.

I’m sure they too have got some great youth players coming through, but The Hammers have just signed last season’s Seria A second highest-scoring striker. I’m all for bringing the youth into the team as and when they are ready, but relying on them to land us a Champions League spot strikes me as something of a gamble. ?

We have to remember, we are still in transition. There are too many players we need to shift for us to buy much more now. I see the youngsters competing with the fringe players this season and this time next year we assess and can buy if we need. There will be quite a few coming to the end of their contracts buy then. We're all impatient, but patience is what is needed where we are now.

I get what your saying Lord but spending for the sake of it is not feasible. We have a proven striker in Ings and the emerging Archer can only get better if given PL playing time.As for the midfield as holding midfielders we can play chambers ther which will leave Kamara as our midfield general so to speak.

Daz, Ings and Watkins as a pair don’t work they don’t compliment each other we have seen that in the games they played together last season, so if we are going to play regularly with two upfront one has to go. If we play with a lone striker which I think is the way we are going to go, Watkins can play that role Ings can’t it’s not his game so we will need to move him on. Either option will leave us with either Ings or Watkins plus Archer which means we need another striker in my opinion.

I don't think we'll play with 2 up top too regularly Ings - I would be very disappointed if Gerrard hasn't realised we are better with a single striker, especially after the first half against United at the weekend. I think Bailey will have given Gerrard plenty food for thought, I expect us to start in a 4-3-3 shape which means it's Ings or Watkins, not both, and if we are replacing either of them in our 11 it's going to take a whopper signing which I simply can't see at this stage in the window.I expect this 11 at Bournemouth!

Martinez

Cash, Carlos, Mings, Digne

Luiz, Kamara, McGinn

Bailey, Watkins, Coutinho

Although McGinn has just been named captain so perhaps that indicates Mings place is at risk? Chambers or Konsa to replace him in the above first 11 perhaps.

I like chambers he’s fairly solid defending and he scores goals which mings and konsa don’t do very often.

Problem is who is a top notch striker that we could realistically sign? There aren't any! Look at West Ham having to sign Scamacca however his name's spelt. I'd never heard of him, granted he might do well but not exactly what I would class as top notch! And they've been looking for a striker for 3 years near enough!

As above, Scamacca was the 2nd highest scorer Seria A last season - up there equivalent with Kane in terms of goals. God, I’d hate to sign him - let’s hope the youngsters pull us through eh? ?

Ings and Watkins would out score him if they were in Serie A!
