What's the hype with Carney every time I have watched him he has been lazy and not the right attitude get rid of him asap! Also Tyrone mings what was he thinking for the first goal attackers must be licking there lips seeing his name on the team sheet. Other than that I thought was a decent game stevie g will do well next year. UTV

There are people on Twitter calling Carney class and needing to be signed up ASAP. Not sure what they've been watching the last 2 games.
Mings mistake was for the second goal not closing down the cross. The first was awkward and just his luck that it got stuck under his boot while trying to scoop it away. Unfortunately because its Mings he gets all the blame when about 5 other players failed to do anything in that same penalty area.

{Ed001's Note - is it luck or just poor technique and timing that got it stuck? I don't see how it is luck, sorry. Mings gets stick because he is always making those kind of errors due to poor technique and believing he is far better than he is. He does make up for that, in large part, by being a leader for the team on the pitch, but that doesn't mean he should be immune to criticism for mistakes that stem from not putting in enough effort on the training pitch to improve himself. Players like Nedved became great simply by staying behind after everyone else went home to work on their weaknesses. If he chooses not to do so, then he only has himself to blame if he gets stick for errors. It is not like they don't have plenty of spare time to work on their game. They are spoilt little rich kids who would rather whine about getting stick than doing something about the reason they get stick.}

Ed I agree to a point, I have always been a Mings supporter but I do think he is quite often made a scapegoat when things don’t go well. I accept his technique isn’t the best but I think part and parcel of the problem is he is being asked to do things that both he and the team aren’t comfortable with, so if you look at Liverpool when they play out from the back you can see all of the back four are comfortable on the ball even if they receive it in tight spaces or being pressed high, our back four are ok if they have time on the ball but when pressed all too often they don’t look comfortable and look for a killer pass that isn’t on partly because we don’t have a decent defensive midfielder who can screen the back four is comfortable in possession and can distribute the ball to someone in the same coloured shirt! I’ve also lost count of the number of times Mings of late tries long cross field passes which end up conceding possession that’s not his game he needs to stick at what he is good at. I also think for some reason this year we seem to have forgotten how to defend balls coming into the box again yesterday we had an early warning when Tsimikas crossed a ball into our box and Mane was left alone between the six yard box and the penalty spot for a free header which drifted just wide of the upright and yet we didn’t learn the lesson. The good sides play to the team’s strengths to play the way Gerrard wants us to play is going to take time and good recruitment and will in my opinion take longer than 12 to 18 months to instill into his players I just hope he is given the time.

{Ed001's Note - I do agree he can be scapegoated, but then he should try working on learning how to hit those crossfield passes.}
