If you read twitter comments from a number of Barcelona fans, they can't wait to get rid and don't want him back, not particularly encouraging feedback . He is probably coming to the premier league for a barrow load of money, I'd certainly question his motives and I'm not sure this is the priority position midfield position that we need, so i hope it doesn't happen.

We've got Traore and Trez going to Cup of nations, El Ghazi seems like he's not fancied and Bailey is always injured, I think Coutinho would be a good signing on loan with an option to buy. Is he better than what we have already?.Yes!

I am not sure whether this is another example of lazy journalism and people putting two and two together ie Gerrards relationship with Coutinho and getting five. In reality the guy is supposedly on over £10 million plus a year which is in excess of £200k a week even if Barcelona subsidise his wages to say 50% that still leaves us £100k to find and bearing in mind Ings is allegedly on circa £100k a week I am not sure we could afford the deal. Even if we could afford it now I certainly can’t see us affording it as a permanent deal unless Coutinho was prepared to take a significant pay cut and at 29 I can’t see him agreeing to that, also I think it would probably mean not being able to secure quality signings for positions which are more urgently needed for example left back defensive midfielder and centre back.

Lets hope it doesn't happen, got disappointment and failure all over it, should the deal be done in my opinion.

Whether you like this news or not you have to admire SG’s ambitions and ability to think outside the ‘box’.
If this rumour is true what other manager in his position would even contemplate going for this move?

Personally I want him will be better than we already have he has a point to prove and with the World Cup coming up he will want to play well to make sure he is in the squad! Get him in! UTV

I am siding with you Boys. At the end of the day all transfers involve risks and we have had quite a few that didn’t turn out the way we wanted.

Personally I think we're kidding ourselves if we think he wouldn't be an immediate improvement on what we already have on the pitch, raise the profile of the club and help attract other players too. If the club can come to a suitable financial package that doesn't put us at too much risk then I'm all for it. If true, it's nice to see the club wanting to think like a top 6 team.
Also, let's keep in mind how many other signings have been made in the new era that were a total surprise, so let's not get sucked into thinking that because this is the main headline story, other moves aren't being made too.

Let's stick with ballet dancer El Ghazi and Trez the deep sea diver then eh Scott?

"Personally I think we're kidding ourselves if we think he wouldn't be an immediate improvement on what we already have on the pitch"

This ^^

I have read for weeks people tear shreds out of AEG, Trez, BT and EB, even a certain level of negativity regarding Ollie and Ings. and yet the idea of adding someone better than ALL of them technically and actually capable of changing a game by himself and its a no from most? I have to disagree.

We were once upon a time linked to him when he was with Inter, many years have passed but as far as i'm concerned he's still world class and a lack of current form doesn't change this!
