Burnley posing no threat, i did expect to say this anyway.
I read on twitter the premier league process for calling the game off, basically the villa advise the pl at 10 am on game day covid and injury numbers, pl convene to review number of players available and 40 minutes later make decision to call the game off. To save fans wasted time and money how simple would the following process be. PCR before training day before match, say 9.am, courier take samples to fast track lab, results available by 6pm.If numbers at this point are too high let PL know and if correct cancel game by 9PM. If numbers at this point are not enough to cancel. Players take lateral flow at 7am on day of game if numbers are too high to play notify PL immediately PL to call game off by 8 am. If fans know this protocol they wait to 8 am to travel. Its not like snow affecting circumstances at the last minute there is ample time to carry out the protocol i describe. Fans just don't seem to count. Obviously the players who tested today will be unavailable for ten days, which means no training till the 28th,so no Chelsea or Leeds, sad tidings ?

Gerrard said somewhere that it takes them only 4 hours to get results back, surely they can do pcr the night before the game and they would know plenty in advance of fans travelling. sucks, I was looking forward to having a stab at revenge for last year

Just like the school/college and uni staff and kids using Latflow it's daily testing.
This is due to how quickly you can go from negative to positive.
Myself I've had latflow in morning and evening from work to record negative, following morning Positive latflow and positive PCR.

Regardless of the inconvenience to fans, at end of they day they did the right thing for their staff and their staffs families.
