Some reflections on yesterday's performance. I think it was a decent start and we had some good individual performances which a number of posters have highlighted so Mings was good, Targett spent more time out wide where he should be rather than getting dragged into the middle which is what had been happening in recent weeks. It seemed to me that McGinn was operating a little further up the pitch and he seemed to benefit from that more advanced role. On the downside I think it is looking increasingly likely that Ings and Watkins are going to struggle as a front two so a decision will be required re who plays up top on there own. Buendia looks like a fish out of water at the moment and needs to be taken out of the firing line for a bit, there is a good player in there he has some neat touches and I think he will come good but at the moment his confidence is shot.
When it comes to future transfer targets I have long been an advocate of Bissouma and I thought he was class again yesterday but if we are looking for full backs to compete with Targett and Cash we could do a lot worse than looking at Cucurella and Lamptey both pacy and deliver quality crosses into the box.

I agree with most of what you have to say lord, although I don’t think Brighton will be selling us any of their players this year they are going to well, I forget his name but that guy who played against us for Southampton looked pretty good at left back he game cash a torrid time bombing forward, for me though LB is not a priority but maybe something to look at in the summer, CDM and CAM is where I’d like to spend.

I don’t think we have a chance of signing either of these but if we could buy lingard and bissouma I’d put good money on grabbing a European spot this year, once we have our full team back fit I think ings will be for the bench and I think that’s the best place for him it gives us great options mid match if we want fresh legs or change formation and go 2 up top. Ollie has to stay our #1 striker, our system works best with him up front imo

The Southampton fullback was Walker Peters he’s a natural right back but has been moved across to left back since Livramento signed from Chelsea
