I think Gerard will be a good fit for a few reasons.
1, To become Liverpool manager after Klopp he needs to be successful at VP.
2, Gary Macalister is a very good coach, remember when Houlier had his heart attack he took over at VP and the football improved and Villa finished 8th or 9th.
3, Dean Smith had no Premier experience only lower league, when he joined,probably equivalent to the Scottish Premier, and he did ok, so why wouldn't Gerard?

I just hope that the "fans give him time" assuming he does become the new man at the helm.

I have been a Villa fan since 1959 and during that time have seen many coaches come through the door.

I probably didn’t agree with many of them at the times but changed my mind at a later date.
Some I initially thought they were the best around and turned out junk.

I will certainly give SG plenty of time t prove himself even though he wasn’t my first choice

Its sums nothing up i am pro dean smith and think he should keep his job i don't fancy being the guinea pig club for gerard he has zero experience and hasn't had to think his way through a game before. no doubt he would command some respect tho.it would be nice to see mcallister back he did well for us when houllier was ill. Obviously i just want villa to succeed i hope i don't have to say i told you so.

At least Stevie G knows the prem. He will get my backing even though I backed Deano. We move on together and back the management and players because we are villa.
