Spurs sack Nuno!
Right now would we swap our position with Spurs?
You'd have to say probably. Yet Spurs have decided that their season is not going in the right direction. 8th! And their season is not going in the right direction?
I know there are other factors, Kane being the main issue there.
But, to sack a manager after only 4 months and the team in 8th, which is about as good as they are to be fair, is a big decision.
Where does that leave Villa? We're 15th and heading in the wrong direction yet we're prepared, for now at least, to stick with Dean Smith.
I have to say the sacking of Nuno is not a good sign for Smith. It must surely put pressure on the owners when they probably don't want or need it.
An interesting few weeks ahead I think.
UTV!

Spurs are undoubting shopping in a different market to Villa, that's the sad reality, but for them to go out and get Conte (one of the best managers in the world) is a real statement of intent. If we get rid of Smith, we need a similar statement, it doesn't necessarily need to be a world class manager but somebody with fresh ideas that we can build the future of the club around - I've said it before I don't subscribe to the "who can we get that is better" stance from some Villa fans. Sometimes different equals better and this is a team that is crying out for a different voice based on yesterday's performance. If Smith does go I'd be amazed if the role is given to the Dyches or Lampards of the world, our owners will think bigger, I'm confident in that.

Agree completely that signing Conte is a statement but the fact that their board don’t see the football Spurs are playing is good enough and the fact they’re not satisfied with being 8th at this stage of the season is very interesting. I think some of the players have got Nuno the sack. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if discussion were held with their main assets along he lines of “if he stays I’m off” or “get him in and I’ll stay”.
Think you get where I’m going with that line of thinking.

Im sure those conversations are happening at Spurs and based on some of the recent reactions by our players, at Villa as well mate. Southampton will tell us everything we need to know I think, another under cooked performance lacking intensity and I think we can safely assume Smith has lost the dressing room. My biggest issue with Smith has always been his lack of flexibility and game management but the players always looked like they bought into him and his approach, I haven't seen that over the past month and that's incredibly worrying as once you lose the dressing room the writing is on the wall. Fingers crossed we get a reaction at the weekend, Ramsey injury is unfortunate but what an opportunity for Chukwumeka (or Sanson if fit) .

I’m not sure they’ll get Conte. He’ll be looking for a very significant investment in players as well as a big package for himself. Levy probably won’t give him either IMO.

Spurs in eighth and just two points off Man Utd in fifth. Fans don’t like ‘Nuno Football’ . Tottenham board knew exactly what they were getting when he was appointed. Spurs have supposedly been punching below their weight for years. A Plethora of management changes hasn’t improved anything. Perhaps, despite their marquee stadium and self-appreciation, they’re not that great after all. But I’m sure Levy knows what he’s doing ? ?
