Probably worst performance since being in back in the Prem in the first half, too much to even get into it was that bad.

Much better second half.

5 at the back needs binning, it served its purpose and now it's time for a change

433 with Bailey starting, Watkins needs dropping, he's been miles off it, control passing everything, he should have made it 3-2 in the 82nd minute with a tap in that most Sunday league strikers score. Hopefully Traore is back fit soon.

Konsa, Mings and Tuanzebe looked terrible in the 1st half.
2nd half was better but it couldn’t have been much worse.
Watkins is definitely out of sorts. My recent posts have highlighted his poor form and body language. What on earth was he doing in the first couple of minutes? Set the tone for him for the rest of the game I’m afraid.
You’re correct Chris and as I said earlier, next weeks game is massive.

I think Smith may be under serious pressure if we lose to West Ham lads . We currently have zero identify and the loses are stacking up, if results go badly we could be 4 points off the drop, 1 point next weekend potentially - That's obviously incredibly unlikely and I don't think we will be anywhere near a relegation dogfight but our owners will not be happy if we continue to slide down the table. Smith needs to get a grip on this situation, stop with 5-3-2, stop trying to crowbar Watkins and Ings up front and find a side capable of stringing more than 3 passes together. That was utterly pathetic tonight!

Watched his interview after the game, not good enough in my book, all I heard was excuses about the first half, it was his fault that he didn’t change anything so hold your hand up dean, be a man, your getting paid enough. he’s not good enough for me guys, my opinion is simple, smith out, I don’t need everyone to agree with me or want to get a bandwagon going I just don’t think he’s good enough.
I think we have being robbed for buendia, we are better when he’s not on the pitch that’s one sure thing, Doug was terrible tonight, should be banned from internationals, every time they go away it’s villa that suffer.

Buendia isn't a 10 really though Whack. He's more of a Sancho or Salah (obviously not as good), right side of a front three. He clearly can't play in a midfield three and it's unfair that we continue to play him there. This is the problem with our team at the moment, we are trying to play EVERYBODY and it doesn't work. Watkins up top with Bailey and Buendia just off them, Sanson, McGinn, Luiz in Midfield. That's the way forward in my opinion.

That may be true BK but your position on the pitch shouldn’t affect your ability to A. pass to your own player, B. actually get past a defender with the ball at your feet, I know players play better in preferred positions but come on now he should be able to do the basics, he’s also the weakest player on the pitch when he’s on the ball, he gets pushed off it constantly, he’s not what’s wrong with us at the moment but he’s a waste of 30+ million if you ask me, only bright side is we definitely won’t be paying any add ons for him he will be lucky to have 10 goal involvements this year. archer deserves a shot also if you ask me, players need to know they are not untouchable, if they were winning every week fair enough but half these guys are not worth the kit they are wearing at the min, think they are gods gift cause they are on the subs bench for a nation that hasn’t won anything in 50 years.

Fully agree Whack, not defending his performance, he was pi$$ poor tonight and has been on a number of occasions - My only point is we aren't playing to his strengths, if you're part of a midfield three you need to have certain attributes which he doesn't possess and has never really needed to develop - If he's wide right he has much more freedom and time on the ball and isn't constantly surrounded by bodies the second the ball is at his feet, we are asking him to play with one hand tied behind his back. It's much too early to make a call on Buendia, only KDB was more creative than him the last time he was in the Premier League and he absolutely destroyed the Championship last season. Play him wide right and you'll see what he can do, Smith needs to make some big decisions now otherwise he could be out of a job, this team is not working.

I agree BK, I think we go back to the 4 2 3 1 system with Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett,
Luiz, McGinn,
Buendia, Sanson Bailey
Ings.
I would give Sanson a try in central midfield as despite Ramsey scoring last night he flatters to deceive in my opinion and we don’t really know what Sanson can do as he hasn’t had a long enough run in the team. Up front is difficult, I opted for Ings as he is the more natural finisher although I am not sure playing that lone striker role is his game.

Lord of the Ings, fully agree, Sanson needs to play. Let's not forget Sanson was a 30M player we picked up at 50% discount, the kid can play!
