Not expecting much with that line up, don't know why steer is in goal, total downer as soon as I seen the team, I know Chelsea also starting a weaker team but look at their bench towards ours.

Ashley young had a terrible game I don’t understand why he was given a peno ahead of archer, the kid has confidence running through his veins, had emi being in goal I would of backed him to save 1 or 2. I guess smith didn’t want to progress, I can’t see us getting any result against united at the weekend so I would of expected a stronger bench at the minimum tonight, game was there to be won. the youngsters done very well to be fair, I thought we had the better chances.

Excellent - were out of an unnecessary cup competition. I’m not sure anyone had held the League/ Milk/ Carabo cup in any great esteem for some years now. Having said that, the penalty shootout was a shambles. I’m sure the inclusion of Barkley was making a point ?.

The only point Barkleys inclusion made was that we were 100% right not to make a move for him, done absolutely nothing on the pitch, apart from scoring a peno on a keeper who would struggle in the championship, Barkley will be playing in the championship soon enough Chelsea will only pay him for warming the bench for so long. I knew we were doomed as soon as we got cheated on the coin flip before the shootout, it looked like we won the toss till the ref called it a dud flip and flipped it a second time to decide which end the penalties would be taken.

What on Earth happened with that coin flip? Looked like we won it twice and the ref just kept doing it until Chelsea won?!

Was very suspect and young was not happy at all, times like that is where you need a microphone on the ref just like the rugby refs, they can’t hide behind excuses that way, will never happen for that reason alone, most are so bad at their job that they need something to hide behind, very rare to see a bad rugby ref at the highest level, and rugby so much more technical and harder to get right, kudos to those guys.
