Further to my post a few days ago, I’m afraid I have some very sad news to pass on to you all. I have just received a call from Villadave’s son who has informed me that his father passed away last night.

Football becomes insignificant at moments like this. A true gentleman and another Holte Ender in the sky. A sad loss and thoughts and prayers go out to his family. A friend I never met but had the pleasure of conversing with over the last few years.
RIP Dave you'll be missed but I'm sure he's arguing everything Villa with the Big Man upstairs ?.

I never met him either, but I felt I knew Dave well and he became a dear friend. I will miss him.
Dave was a true Villan, and I bet you’re right Moose, he’ll be debating with the big man himself about the love of his life, ( after his wife and family of course) .
It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s already palled up with the great Ron Saunders.
If he is watching down, I’m sure he will appreciate all of your messages of condolence and that includes all those lads on the Leeds site, I know for a fact he enjoyed engaging in banter with you all.
My heart goes out to his wife, son and daughter and grand children, my deepest condolences.

You are right Mark news like this transcends all team rivalries. VillaDave enjoyed a good banter and was intentionally (or unintentionally) adept at winding up a few of our more vociferous posters. Our prayers go out to his family in this great time of loss.
