Percy put out an article midday yesterday saying about the 100m offer and that villa still had a contract on the table.

Late last night he edited the article and added a paragraph midway through about Grealish being expected to do a medical early next week.

For me, that looks like it is well and truly a done deal. I can't lie, the timing hurts, if (and all of this is based on if it does happen) it does go through he's left as our captain with two weeks left till the season starts, with us only bringing in one significant signing. Leverkusen will be adding extra to their price tag for Bailey, any other club will be doing the same. Any potential player JWP etc will be thinking "why do I want to go there if they've sold their best player? ". And all the players at the club are now facing two weeks to change the whole way we play because it is so heavily based around him.

Probably the worst part for me is all the my club, my city, my fans bs, all the talk of totti etc. I could understand if we couldn't come near in terms of wages maybe it would make it more understandable, but I can guarantee you if you pulled someone out the Holte, and offered them 200k to play for villa and be captain, the focal point on a new exciting project that the owners have consistently delivered on, there's not a wage Man City could offer that would get them to leave.

So if it does happen, thanks for what you've done Jack, but ultimately you didn't leave a legacy, you bailed on us at possibly the worst time and rubbish on a manager who backed you and looked after you through injuries and you being a dickhead off the pitch. Team mates who were happy to consistently cater to you, to get you to this point. And finally, fans who were patient with you and worshipped the ground you walked on.

Give it one last push and sing super Jack throughout the Bristol game? 😂

Ruined my day to be honest but it is Aston Villa, not Grealish FC.

Agree with everything you have said here Chris. I be brutally honest when he comes to villa park with city I be shouting at Matty cash and McGinn to break him in 2 and I honestly done care what people think of me for saying that. Everything you have said about the players managers and even the medical staff and coaches have stuck with him and helped him through major bad times. For me the legacy he was starting will well and truly ended in a matter of days.

So Jack is staying/ going, City are preparing/ submitted/ agreed/ had a bid rejected. Jack signs a new contract/ buyout clause met/ wants a move/ wants to stay/ having a medical next week/ still on holiday. Done deal/ nothing concrete/ in negotiations-blah blah blah.
Hope that's cleared everything up 🙈🤦.

I’m 100% agreeing with what Chris posted above, I must be a changed man like Walkies 😂

UTV.

Its seems quite simple to me. If jack was staying he would have said so. He'll be well suited at city as he won't have to play all the games, remember 3 months last season 2 months the season before he missed for us. So let's build a team without him.

This is all conjecture at the moment guys/ girls.
Rumours! Rumours! Rumours!

I agree SV, that improved contract has probably been available to him for a while. If he was going to accept that offer, I think he would have done by now.
I’ve said it before, if the money we get for him is all reinvested in quality players, I think we will be a better side for it. Jack is so much better than everyone else and therefore we have become too over reliant on him, and then when he’s been injured, we’ve struggled. With a team of 11 good players of similar levels of ability, I think we will play more as a team and we will do well.

Chaps, first and foremost Jack is a sportsman and an elite sportsman at that, and like any elite sportsman he wants to compete at the highest level against the best and win medals and trophies if he stays with us in reality he might win a cup or two but is he likely to win the premiership or the champions league if we are honest the answer is no, if he joins City he has a chance of wining everyone of those trophies so it is hardly surprising that he wants to move on. The other thing to bear in mind is he could have baled out before when we were relegated but didn’t and has helped establish us in the premiership I don’t think he should be pilloried now for saying he wants to win trophies and move on. With regards to him not coming out and saying he wanted to move on had he done so earlier I think that would have been worse for us in that City would have played hardball to drive down the fee and would we really have wanted to drag this whole thing out until the end of August? Villa will be ok after Jack has gone, £100 million is a lot of money to invest in the squad we might end up paying over the odds for some players but that’s football, as a squad I think if the investment is right we will probably be stronger although we might need to be a little patient for the team to settle into a different style of play not something us Villa fans are notorious for being good at.

Agree Chris, if he isn't with us he is against us, simple as - Don't get this "he leaves with my best wishes" stuff, he's leaving us at the worst possible time imaginable and he will be very aware of this. We move on regardless but it makes genuine progress this season very difficult!

I have a gut feeling that if he were to leave we'll probably win a trophy this coming season-oh the irony would be unbelievable Jeff.

As brutal as it may sound, if it wasn’t for the club and certain people at the club, Jack would be doing/ have done jail time. This is how that’s repaid? If he was even considering it and had an ounce of respect for Villa he should have told the club and any potential suitors as soon as the season finished. By all accounts the club have planned the whole summer around him staying, to make it clear he wants to move on with two weeks to go is unforgivable, add in all the factors I’ve mention surrounding what he means to the club, and what the clubs done for him, it’s a smack in the face, if it happens.

Let’s be honest. the club probs knew there was a good chance that jack would be going, or that he was going. with how fast we went out and got buendia, then trying for ESR, all the talk of jack leaving us in the lurch is a bit off the mark imo. with the euros happening and then jack being on holiday it was never going to be sorted straight away. he hasn’t done any pre season for us and hasn’t featured in any preseason games yet, so players would of been set up so far without him, so just carry on with how they’ve been set up and playing. I’m sure deano will have a plan (in dean we trust 🙌🏻) . Buendia, Young, looking like Bailey also. that's decent investment. and then with £100million more to invest, if the club didn’t know jack was leaving. or whatever’s left of the £100m if the Bailey/ buendia deals have been planned with jack leaving and it’s just been hush hush. we are in a good position, and as good as jack is. and I am genuinely devastated he looks like he is leaving. I really can’t begrudge him, yes we’ve been a platform for him but we have got much out of it also as a club with having him in our ranks. and we could look back from this in years to think with the £100m we got for him could help us get to the next level. with a genuine class squad from healthy investment which helps to push on from our current level. we will go on and just think of the swan song in years to come when jack comes back to us to finish his career!

Pricey I agree in principle - If the club have been acting accordingly in the background to tee up transfers with the knowledge Jack was leaving and if, come deadline day, we have signed a quality replacement and added Buendia, Bailey, JWP (or equivalent) to the team then I agree we have a much more balanced squad and we can continue our progression. But, if this is not the case and Jack moving has blindsided the club and we are now rushing through overpriced transfers then Jack has really landed us in it. The likelihood is we won't find out until the window shuts, what it highlights to me a distinct lack of loyalty in the game, even from a player who grew up in the Holte End.

News of a bid from city hasn’t blindsided the club it’s hardly come as a surprise to anyone in the world of football let alone our club, I think everyone is blowing this whole thing out of proportion especially since nothing has being finalised yet. we either keep jack or we get a tonne of cash it’s a win win in my book, and even if jack wants to go we don’t have to sell as he has a contract so it’s basically down to what our owners want to do, if jack says he wants to leave it don’t mean we have to sell and you can say that he won’t put the effort in and play to his best ability but that hurts him more than the club he’ll never get anyone to stump up the cash if he starts having tantrums,

I think the general consensus Whack is the club didn't expect any Club, City included, to go to 100M for Jack Grealish - The interest was obvious but the level of interest and the magnitude of the bid may have been unexpected, just guess work on my behalf based on what's been said in the press. The decision sits with Jack, if he wants to go I don't see the club standing in his way.
