Months ago I said Barkley was a bad apple, and I am more than certain he is one of the reasons we have been below par as a team, I will be glad to see the back of him.
Not a nice person, and has a huge chip on his shoulder, and would ruin Jack for sure, mate or not.
So adios and please don`t come back.

I agree with you Dave.
What really annoys me is the number of chances he was given to prove his worth.
He failed miserably to get anywhere near the levels expected of him during that period.
Young Chukwuemeka was finally given 10 minutes in the Spurs game and shone like a beacon, showed great composure in a pressure situation and looked totally at home. A lot of people were saying he wasn’t ready before his debut, well he looked ready enough to me, and I’m sure he would have been far more use to the team than Barkley was.

Yes Mark, some people just don`t realise how lucky they are, and Barkley is a prime example, my p#ss boils just looking at the bloke.
Spot on about Chukky mate, could and should save us a tidy sum.

Dave, please think about your blood pressure, Barkley is not worth a mention. He won't be anywhere near our club in claret and blue shirt again.

Thanks for your concern Scotty, had to mention him mate, especially after his latest antics.
The further he is from the first team, the better we play.

Completely understand the frustration with his performances for Villa but not sure about the personal stuff. Does anyone know him well enough to question his personality or whether he's a nice person? If we went on rumours and headlines and were balanced, wouldn't we be saying the same thing about Grealish with all the off field stuff?
We got him on loan, it didn't work out and this last lot of headlines is essentially about a player who's season is over, is probably reflecting on a frustrating set of performances and went out on the beers. not exactly shocking.
Plenty of positives to focus on this summer.

He always gave the impression that doing his fair share of the grafting was beneath him. On another site posters were highlighting the differences between Barkley and James Milner. Whilst Milner is less naturally talented than Barkley he is always prepared to bust a gut, whereas Barkley seems unwilling to even break a sweat. Even at the age of 35 Milner’s work rate is higher than that of Barkley, who at 28 should be at his peak.
This will never endear him to supporters and teammates see this too. It can have a negative effect on team spirit and togetherness. The increased level of effort throughout the side was clearly evident in the Tottenham game, I wonder had Barkley been involved, would that still have been the case?

Should never have been picked when he was fit in January. Should have fought his way back into he team. No coincidence his the starting XI coincided with our poor form around that time. Felt sorry for El the time.

Sorry DBS, he is still representing Aston Villa untill the season ends, he is out of order.
We did voice our disapproval at Grealish and his behaviour, in fact a few of us were in agreement he should have been stripped of the captaincy.
Barkley was abusive, and in my book there is no room for that, how would anyone feel if it was their parents or family he was abusive too. Good job we don`t all behave like that when we are disappointed.

Villadave - I guess I just find it strange to take such offense with an incident for which there are only limited reports and then ask how it would feel if it were a parent or child getting the alleged abuse whilst simultaneously abusing someone on this forum.
Fair play on calling Grealish out previously, that was a generalisation on my part and not aimed specifically at you, more the fan base in general. and for the record I'm certainly not condoning his alledged behaviour, just suggesting we don't overreact or go down the personal route.
Everyone's entitled to their own approach to life though, so each to their own.
Enjoy the game today!

DBS, thanks for your reply mate, not sure what you mean though, Re simultaneously abusing someone on this forum.
And to be fair, I don`t think I am over reacting, merely making a point, and I do understand your point about Grealish was not aimed at me, I did say we voiced our our disapproval, I was just saying that people slated him for his antics.

No worries Villadave, like I say, not really having a go, just seemed strange to be calling out someone as being 'not a nice person', huge chip on his shoulder etc (I'm assuming you don't have a personal relationship with him) but then saying that alleged abuse from Barkely to a doorman is unacceptable. Just think fans should stick to analysing football performances and leave the personal stuff alone. But that's just my take like I say, so each to their own.
Great performance today, so plenty to discuss. including Dean Smith not having found his level and a tactical masterclass ;)
