El Gazi is a bit of an enigma, goals per games, is brilliant . His problem is consistency, he certainly has ability, but doesn't apply it enough. He seems to be a confidence player, we had this with him before, he had a couple of good games and was then dropped . Perhaps he needs a decent run, to keep that confidence going .

Personally I don't think he's good enough if our ambitions are Europe and trophies Dave - He's never going to play ahead of Grealish and if the intention is to play Jack at 10 then I'd be amazed if we aren't looking at better quality for left and right side. Going to be an interesting transfer window, we need real quality not quantity, expect us to be in for some good players in the summer.

Dave if he played like that every week, he would be a fans favourite for sure.
He has everything in his locker, and at his age he will never have a better opportunity than he has now, to push on and become a wanted man.
I keep changing my mind on him, simply because of his inconsistency, and like you say he appears to be very much a confidence player, having said that, I do like him.

Dave, we have had players that we have both watched over the years that are just like Elghazi, I used to love Dalian Atkinson (god rest his soul) unfortunately he didn't always turn up, Mark Walters also springs to mind. What's is it that turns great players one week to bang average next week. Obviously if there was a definitive answer we could all sort it. Yet other players with far less ability don't often drop their standard, Des Bremner was one of my idols for that very reason. Obviously confidence is a big thing but there is obviously far more to it. I accept fans, especially Villa fans are both demanding and unforgiving, but in Elghazi case we can't blame the fans in the stadium for his inconsistent performances. I find him infuriating and unfortunately I don't think he will change, so do we keep him as a squad player or cash in, I'm for the latter.

El Ghazi has scored more goals in the Premier this season than any of the following: Werner, Neto, Firminio, De Bruyne, Pulisic, Mount, Martial, Greenwood.
Bale has just equalled his tally with a hat-trick yesterday.
What do some Villa fans want? Honestly.

Hang on Trinity, we are having a sensible debate here, what's your problem mate.
We are talking about a guy who some people like, and some don`t.
Are we not allowed to debate anymore.
Nobody has slated him, you need to chill out mate.

Sounds very much like it’s you who should “chill”. I’m providing facts VD. I’m also questioning SC’s comment that Villa should “cash in”.
Is this a forum where only people who agree with you or SC can comment?
Ed? Is this the way this platform operates?

Yes Trinity, I will chill I think.
Take care guys, you and your families stay safe.

Realise that whenever I criticise Elghazi he scores a corker! He was infuriating giving the ball away too much but there again so was Luiz and McGinn. If he was a centre forward then we would forgive this as long as he carried on scoring. Because we expect him to deliver more for others I get really frustrated. Perhaps more starts will sharpen his other elements of his game?

So what you're saying trinity is that el gazi is better than de bruyne. Interesting. I'm in the like him but get frustrated with him camp. I think he's probably the type of player who needs an arm round him and telling how good he is. Still a good member of the squad.

Bang on the button SV. 👍.

100% SV, fully agree, I think he would be much better in a team where he plays week in week out and can build some form. The reality is he won't play when Jack is fit, he's not good enough to encourage Smith to move Jack into the 10 to accommodate him and as a result probably won't see a huge amount of game time. I think he's a good player but not good enough for where we want to go, wouldn't be overly surprised if he moved on in the summer.

So trinty, see its not the VDave and SC show, it is a balanced review of an enigma of a player by a selection of contributors.
