Seen an interesting quote attributed to Deano linked to our pursuit of either Loftus Cheek or Barkley his view is that we are light in the central midfield area which I think we all recognise however what came as a little surprising at least to me anyway was he sees Jack being more productive on the left I must confess I think he could be far more destructive in a central role behind the front man buts that's just my view. That being the case then, I wonder whether that puts an end to our pursuit of Rashica (about time) and Benrahma, and if we are only looking for 2 more incomings that it will be Barkley/ Loftus-Cheek plus a forward.

Yeah I am with you there VillaJohn. I think from here it is central spine - Nelsson (CB) is being mentioned, then Barkley on loan and Edouard.

Though I am a little confused if Edouard comes in then surely you play Watkins and Edouard - both central, which would mean Grealish behind them and then a 3 midfield - so not a lot of room for wingers. Traore on the bench, though personally i would have preferred Benrahma or Rashica to Traore.

If no 1st team striker comes in then I guess Traore, Watkins and Grealish as front three. I personally prefer Grealish on the wing I want him as far forward as possible - he has over 10 goals a season i think from there.

I agree that with deano that jack is better on the left when he is in the middle he drops far too deep we don’t want he taking on players in our half we need it in and around the box where he can do the real damage.

Muske if we sign Edouard it looks like Jack will play left Watkins on the right with Edouard through the middle leaving Traore as an impact player coming off the bench whereas I would have had Traore on the left Watkins on the right with Jack pulling the strings centrally I know he has a tendency to come deep looking for the ball but with the pace we now possess out wide and Jack’s ability to pick a pass and switch the play I think we would pose teams real problems particularly on the break however Deano and a lot of you guys see it differently which is fair enough it’s all about opinions after all😀.

If we signed Edouard, there would probably be a dozen or more permutations up front.
I would go for the setup below, if we don`t get Edouard, use Davis

Watkins Edouard / Davis Traore

Grealish

McGinn Luiz

Targett Mings Konsa Cash

Martinez

Steer, Guilbert, Davis, Hourhane, Nakamba, Trez, Hause.

I think that’s fair enough starting eleven looks good to me but definitely need upgrade on Hause mind you it shows how far we have come if we are only talking about upgrading the bench.

Traore would make a great sub to bring - a front 3 of Watkins, Edouard and Jack would be pretty good - can Watkins play out wide? Did he do that at Brentford?

As has been said there would be so many options - including and out and out front two.

Nice problems to have :)

Watkins can and has played wide for Brentford he was only moved in to play as an out and out centre forward when Maupay was sold to Brighton last summer.

Jack was far more effective with space out wide last season. Centrally he just gets crowded out (although can use his skills to get a card or 2 for the opposition midfielders) .

Maybe with a better forward line he could do the business through the middle but if he's already effective where he is I don't see a reason to mess with it.
