Well that's the first one out of the way. So let's have a look at the positives. We won. Martinez had little to do but what he did have he did brilliantly and Cash looked good on debut good distribution and quality crossing not seen enough defensively but it looks encouraging Watkins ran around a lot had a decent first 15 minutes but not much after that but in fairness we didn't create much for him to have a go at, and we had a lot of the ball. On the debit side Targett is not a premier league full back when attacking his crosses get blocked and when defending .! We need a new left back before the window closes. Creativity still missing and Jack trying to do too much. We didn't move the ball quickly enough Sheff Utd just set up a bank of four in front of us and we couldn't break it down reminded me of West Ham at home last season when we couldn't break down 10 men admittedly over a much shorter period. And at the moment McGinn looks a shadow of the player he was before his injury and we gave the ball away far to often. With Sheffield down to 10 men after 12 minutes I thought I would enjoy the evening but I found myself biting my nails for most of the match. Its early doors admittedly but even so it's clear more work to do and more signings required me thinks.

Ramsey should replace McGinn, even if its just as a reminder his place is not guaranteed.

Personally I was not surprised at the way we played after all it was their first Premiership match this season and three players were new to the side.
I think this team will get a lot better as they get more matches under their belts.

Why was you so nervous mate? they had one shot on target being the penalty in the 33rd minute and 70% of the ball was in their final third, it wasn’t in danger, the question was whether we could get through their two banks of defenders.

Because Chris, Targett is an accident waiting to happen as we saw with the penalty he switched off, and we don’t have options because Taylor is worse.

Targett switched off, but Douglas Luis has the chance to cut out the pass that put Burke free, then Cash Mings Konsa and Dougie let him dance along them like puppets on a string for him to slip it in to Basham. There were a lot of people at fault for that goal and it was al rustiness more than anything. As I said the pen was on like 30 minutes, after that they had nothing, it was whether we could break them down, and we did. I don’t see what there’s to be nervous about, Targett barely touched the ball in our half second half.

Think a new lb like you’ve said is highly important. need pace to take advantage of the overlap when jack cuts inside. would love for ya to go full out to get Rico Henry! Tonight also highlighted lack of pace on the wings. hopefully Traore will improve this and ideally need another.

Most teams would have struggled against such a disciplined defence, give Sheffield United some credit. We tried inside and outside and they bust a gut to cut everything out, something every team could learn from.

I'm only annoyed we only made 1 sub. Trez is a harder worker but that match screamed for taking a risk on el ghazi, jota or Lansbury with not needing to defend.
I'm not convinced by Targett but I still think the pen was a dive.

Watkins did everything he possibly could, the striker isn't going to get chances in those games.
Doug showed why he's DM and shouldn't be pushed forwards. The Bournemouth finish last season may have been a one off but he refused far too many chances tonight.
