Watching MOTD premier leagues greatest goal scorers on Saturday night got me thinking who and how would I rank the greatest Villa goal scorers I have seen since I started watching the Villa in the early 70's. I accept this is a subjective judgement based not only on the goals scored but also the contribution to the team things like work rate, assists and also the style of the players involved. but I put it out there to be shot at and I am sure that it will and I am also sure I will have missed someone major off the list but you guys will undoubtedly let me know

4. Saunders

Think Platty should be on that list somewhere John,
incredible strike rate for a midfielder. His work rate was pretty amazing also and I doubt many on your list provided more assists.

Take your point Mark but I always considered him more of a goal scoring midfielder rather than an out and out striker which was why I didn’t consider him.
