I have composed a little challenge for everybody. Something a bit different that you can’t just look on google to find the answers.
Below is an alternative all time Aston Villa team but in anagram form. I have also named
7 subs.
Thé 11 players I have selected are in no particular order, that’s to say goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders and strikers mixed up.
Some are easier than others and once solved the 4-4-2 formation should be obvious.
It’s not necessarily the best ever Villa team but it’s certainly not a bad one.
So come on, why not give it a go, all Ed’s are more than welcome to participate.

Team;
train it bell
talks warmer
have comments
cole x player
av’s invested
gay randy
charleys rag
glum art chap
rib shock man
own tin maker
aunts vet notes

Subs;

pink single
tripe he wet
no jaw cher
eves the god
a lease hunt
star art guy
tear barrel

Good luck guys 😄.

A great idea and challenge Mark, I have 5 names so far, maybe 6.
I am having to do it when I get a chance.
Well done mate.

Some of the players were in the other teams various people chose in their teams last week but not many. Glad you’re having a go Dave, I hope you’re not the only one though. I just thought while we’re all stuck at home with no football to watch it might give people something to think about.

10 plus a guess. Being born 87 a few of those are before my time 😉.

Make it 11 plus a guess, no idea how I missed what the first one was!

None of the players are from recent eras rk, mainly 70s/ 80’s.

I await the first correct side with subs.
Sounds like rk is going to be first to the post or will there be a late bid from someone. The suspense is killing me, ha
🤔, who’s going to be crowned the anagram champion.
👑.

I have just noticed a small error, the second sub is missing a t, so should be treat barrel and not tear barrel,
my apologies 🤭.

All of them I think although
Rib shock man was difficult especially when you read it as Rip shock man.

Old age setting in I think.

Congratulations pluffy, I crown you anagram champion, well done mate 👑😄👍.

Can I ask, how long did it take you to work it out Pluffy, and would you be interested in tackling something similar again, the same applies to anybody else that had a go, let me know.

Or perhaps somebody else might like to have a go at composing a challenge.

I got all but 3,4,8,9 and the last sub in about 10-15 minutes last night. Earl Barrett then popped into my head just as I was nodding off lol.
Well done pluffy.

Hi Mark, I did reply earlier but it seems to have been lost.
It took about 3 hours in fits and starts.
I did have a senior moment when I read one clue wrong and got Mark Posnich instead of Bosnich.
I think if there were more foreign players in it would be harder as most people get the first name almost immeadiately.

I look forward to the next one, it will pass the time in quarantine.

Thanks for that pluffy, it must have taken me at least 3 hours to devise it. Hear what you’re saying about the foreign players, I’ll definitely bear that in mind.
