I think we are going down now, we can't keep clean sheets, and we can't defend, so that only spells relegation in my eyes but there's westham who might keep us up, the player I feel sorry for is Jack he carrying this club fair play to him, he's a good captain and one hell of a player who is going to be world class with out a doubt he's far too good for villa really, we would be down already without him, if only we built a team instead of having a 1 man team, I forget about the final and just play the kids we are going to thrashed by city.

Can’t help but agree. Think in the middle of the park we competed quite well today and looked a lot better going forward. The defence is just worrying.
Conceded 50 goals in 25 games. Means we have to score 3 a game to get 3 points.
Think the fact we are in a cup final is keeping dean his job.
Expected the league to be tough but we keep making the same defensive mistakes which are costing us games.

Konsa and hause weren’t good enough for the championship 12 months ago. Suddenly good enough to start in the PL now.

Should have kept Chester in case Mings was out. Engels doesn't have Mings pace but coaches should be telling the others to cover that fact.
I still think going forwards we were decent. Disappointed that Smith took Ally off when he was finding his stride though.
Hause is embarrassing. Wolves weren't blessed with defenders but still didn't want him, Drinkwater couldn't get into Burnley's team but we drop Nakamba. People blame Smith but I'm thinking he is not allowed to make the decisions he wants to.

If we scored 6 you would back the opposition to score 7.
Schoolboy errors, lack of pace and poor protection from the defensive mids, difficult to remember a worse Villa defense.
Agree about Jack, he deserves better, don’t think anyone would hold it against him if he wants to move on. It’s like watching a thoroughbred surrounded by donkeys.
Just an observation, Jack was repeatedly fouled, yet Atkinson didn’t give a single spuds player a yellow card, yet he was happy enough to give Guilbert and Nakamba yellows for less severe fouls . As for the penalty, even the French commentators over here said it wasn’t and usually a player only has to fall over in Ligue 1 and they think it’s a penalty. Oh well on to the next match. Always look on the bright side of life.

The penalty was soft but I can't disagree with it as he contacted Bergwign before he played the ball.
I was more disappointed with the assistants constantly giving goal kicks and corners the wrong way (what is the point of VAR again? Those decisions are not subjective) .

It’s just as important to get goal kicks and corner decisions correct as well. Objectivity for the offsides and goal line technology, subjectivity for other issues = no consistency
What happens when a corner is given when it should have been a goal kick, ie. VAR not used, and a goal is scored from the resulting corner. Should we go back to the original incorrect subjective decision, réalise it should have been a goal kick and therefore rule out the goal?
