Rumours are we are prepared to offer Jack 200k a week if true just shows the owners intent and adds 25% on any incoming players wage demands.200k a week at villa wow.

It also suggests, if true, that Villa may seriously fear there is a growing possibility that they may struggle to hang on to their captain.

Although there are so many stories doing the rounds, there is enough consistent evidence to point towards various enquiries being genuinely advanced in pursuit of new attack minded players, although seemingly not for out and out strikers. At this stage, I would imagine we are only planning for a couple of deals to actually come off, but perhaps other possibilities are being exercised, just in case the JG contingency plan is needed.

The sooner we know the Captain’s plans, the better. The new season is almost upon us and we have other pressing decisions to sort out elsewhere in the squad. A big influx of new faces at this stage of pre-season is never ideal.

Unlike many supporters, who cling to the image of Jack as the messiah, I don’t see him as the only route to success, but do appreciate he has qualities that would be difficult to replace. If he were to leave, I would miss him, but not all the hype that surrounds him.

I think we need to look at the bigger picture when we talk about losing Jack though - The reality is he is our only genuine superstar, replacing Jack is a massive undertaking as AJ mentioned as we will be replacing his impact on the team across 2 or 3 players, and that's just on the pitch. He's also a huge draw for Aston Villa, both from an incoming player perspective and, I'd hazard a guess, from a commercial one too so. Also, and probably most importantly, selling (or losing) Jack Grealish at this stage of the Villa rebuild sends a really bad message, it tells the world that Villa (despite having multi billionaire owners) still lose their best players when the top clubs come calling, and that's something we will struggle to come back from. Aston Villa will survive if Jack leaves, but I'm firmly in the "Messiah" (tongue in cheek of course) camp, I think losing Jack would be an astronomical blow to Aston Villa.

Seems that Grealish may well be leaving the building. If it comes to pass, it will be disappointing, but not really that surprising.

Some of the statements of denial, dismay, self-harm etc. on Twitter have passed the obsessional stage. Almost a replay of Beatlemania (for the younger ones, think No Direction, sorry One Direction) . However, as somebody else recently and far more realistically said ‘he is just a very naughty boy’.

Maybe I have been around the block too many times, but I am sure we will find alternative means to progress. Yes, we may be facing a set back, after potentially losing two big enticing names within a week, but there are still a lot of positive elements within the club to help get us right back on track.

Buendia might just become our key player, even before he has had chance to take to the pitch in anger.
