Looks like we're interested in Ashley Young on a free. Seems a no brainer to me, lost 3 experienced players this summer so bringing someone in who has been at the highest level, won almost all there is to win at club level, knows what it takes to make the step up and knows the club, can only be a positive. Plus despite his age, proved last season he still has the ability to provide adequate cover for a number of positions.

Hard to believe he’s 35, great player for us in the past. if he’s still got the legs I’d have him.

Played 34 times in a title winning season last year so you’d imagine he’s still got enough in the tank!

Not the sort of signing that gets everyone excited but could be shrewd bit of business. Barry to Everton, Milner to Liverpool type signing!

Not for me. Having him back at his age just doesn’t seem to meet our owners requirements.

It would be great to have Ashley back at the club. Apart from being an asset on the pitch and a very capable replacement for Matt Targett, I think he could have a big influence on our younger players. We are lacking players with his level of experience, and that in itself would be invaluable.

My thoughts exactly Mark.

Think he’d be a brilliant addition. Get him involved in some coaching, can cover both fullback positions, and even play further forward. He’s a great athlete, and has a winning mentality. Also, takes a wicked set piece. Bring him home!

Wasn’t sure on this one and wondered if Ashley was using his surname as camouflage. However, on reflection, maybe a short term arrangement isn’t a bad shout, given his versatility. He might even see a fair bit of game time across various flank roles.

Another wise old head will be useful too.
