Jota has been released. Not surprised never really got going in the Premiership. Hope we do get some business done but feel we won't see any more incomings.

Smells like a bit of poor planning to me, he came off the bench on Thursday night fgs!

Mind you, Barkley was on the bench for Chelski the night before he was announced as a Villa player 😀.

Jota’s departure makes sense for both parties. I wish the player well.

I wonder if Nyland and, just possibly, Lansbury are considering similar arrangements.

Smith has said he wants two players for every position (GK and ST aside), so Lansbury‘s loss would create a hole to fill. That could get covered by Ramsey (J) or an additional new face. At the moment, I would still err towards the ex-Forest player staying, but the recent Twitter attacks might have coloured his judgement otherwise.

Smith’s recent interview hinted some players (plural) might now prefer to move on following the recent recruitment drive. Severance by mutual agreement could appeal to some, where they have little prospect of playing and would not command much of a fee. If the player feels the time is right, he may see a benefit from negotiating elsewhere as a free agent.

Kalinic is the tricky one because his deal runs until 2023.

Smith said any outgoing players maybe the key to anymore incoming. We can't stockpile players, especially ones who aren't going to play in Prem.
Maybe, just maybe we will see one more signing before the deadline.
Benrahma would/ could be that final piece.
Watching him Thursday I must say he was impressive and certainly put himself in the shop window.
Fingers crossed.

VillaMole (Twiiter) has suggested Smith is keen to move on El Ghazi, Guilbert and Lansbury by 23:00 if possible. The latter may be paid off in a similar manner to Jota if he remains after closure of the EFL window.
