Ed's, what happens if Watkins put in a transfer request? Does it have any effect on the transfer situation?

Looks like we have missed out on Wilson after Newcastle lodged 20mil bid. why are we playing it cool in the window when we need reinforcements and clearly have money? Wilson is good value at 20 mil and would add a much needed goal threat. I understand his had injuries but on his day he is a really good player.

What’s the news on Watkins reports say a deal is close? Surely don’t want to wait until we have played our first game to bring in key players. Eduourd still on the cards 🤷🏼‍♂️.

I think we are lacking a little ambition in my humble opinion.

Just visited the Bournemouth fans blog. They are quite happy to see Wilson go. Generally, seem unimpressed with him.

Apparently he’s agreed terms with Newcastle let him go there. He only wants to go there cause Fraser is heading there. He’s only had one good season in the prem scoring 14 other season has hit double figures. Let him go go them.

Weird situation apparently Wilson has agreed personal terms with Newcastle however Villa's bid has been accepted meaning Newcastle will have to match Villa's bid.

To add a possible twist, although not confirmed, a Newcastle blogger suggests Fraser has pulled out of his negotiations.

In many ways, I would prefer Origi or King over Wilson. I assume Edouard is just considered too expensive.

News this morning suggests Spurs are now after Watkins. Our main trump card will be first team action with us, rather than under-study duties. I hope this is enough to keep the deal on track.

Rumour had Josh King as Mourinho’s choice. Perhaps we should consider him. I read a while ago that Smith had him as the alternative to Watkins.

Chelsea will loan out Batshuayi by all accounts. I am not convinced by him or the merit of a loan really, but he is another option. Likely to go to Palace I fancy. Welcome back Benteke?

So AVFC have withdrawn their bid for Wilson, he is now discussing terms with NCFC, this level of bidding inefficiency unfortunately displays our intent. we will now go out and sign a striker that either no one has heard of or was a flop at another club. spurs interested in Watkins now, so 2 weeks until our first PL fixture and we’ve managed to get Cash across the line. Nice Villa, apologies for the rant I just think we are behind other teams in the whole recruitment of first team talent, because we are penny pinching. this is the exact type of behaviour that had us finish 17th last term.

Let’s see what next week holds, no doubt untenable links with a myriad of players who don’t want to fight for survival week in week out .

The only rays of light at the moment as I see it are:-

a) We tripped as the Wilson bullet was fired. I may eat my words, but I am far from convinced by him.

b) It appears Spurs need to sell before coughing up sufficient funds for Watkins

c) We appear to have a appetite for King and Edouard (sorry for the attempted 🥔 gag, but I need to break out of this transfer misery! ), both preferable to Sgt Wilson. Origi might still be in the mix.

Smith and Lange need to get their skates on mind, hopefully with some good Watkins persuasion tomorrow.
