Maatsen deal done and dusted. Personally I thought this wouldn't happen until after 30/06 due to PSR but obviously the club know what they are doing. I presume in the next 48 hours will see a number of outgoings.

On TV today they said that the money we paid for Maatsen is over the period of his contract so the PSR figure for this financial period is £37.5 ÷ 5 year deal = £7.5m, whereas all of the figures for outgoing players is recorded for us. Quite confusing, not illegal but is immoral.

They wouldn't be charging £7.5m to this period as that is the charge for a whole year.
Maatsen will have been our asset for 2-3 days so will probably have a charge for 1 month at just over £600k.
The media are underselling the impact of these transfers.

Accounting doesn't work on a payments basis, it works on an accruals basis.
Regardless of when you pay, you record the benefit when you receive it.
In terms of a long term asset, it is depreciated or amortised evenly over the life of the asset (5 years for a 5 year contract) . Part years are pro-rated.
