has any one heard about the Qatar take over?

Supposed to be confirmed within the next few weeks. Exciting times at the villa

Yeah it's bulls**te

Agree10 Disagree3

Not quite bulls**t as QIA (Qatari investment assosiation) has made contact with the club but neither QIA or Villa want to discuss the matter so who knows whats going on so its just a waiting game to see if anything happens

Well if this is true, why would lerner pay £500,000 to bring keane in for 2 months ? he wouldn't spent anything

Keane is a commercial deal, he is a well respected player and raises the profile of Aston Villa to the building fan base of the MLS.

Keane is a good signing and a great player, i have not been happy with the goings on at VP. This is a good move especially for our young strikers coming through the reserves as Keane would no doubt help out with them in training. Keane is also known to be a bit of a character which is something GH and AM have said is lacking in the dressing room

From what I understand QIA own psg so therefore can't own another club in Europe. Ed, can you put this one to bed or am I wrong? {Ed001's Note - QIA can't own another. Though there are ways around it, families have more than one member in them!}

QIA own psg and malaga so you can own more than one club

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont believe this will happen, however i believe it is not the QIA but the Qatar Petroluem which is all still a part of the QIA but is ran by the deputy prime minister of Qatar. The deputy prime minister is a long distant relative of the prime minister who i think runs Malaga. Qatar sports investment own 70% of PSG, so although they are or seem to be a part of the same thing QIA they are all independent of each other. The QIA represents Qatars investments abroad, where as the other two dont. I think!! This means that any of these people can buy out as many football clubs as they like as they are seperate entities without the problem of the 49% rule. Just google Qatar and read for hours dreaming of these guys buying out the Villa, then realise its not happening, I have to say the rumours are building but nobody of media substance has said anything since November

Agree0 Disagree0

The media hasn't said anything more because QIA and Randy Lerner does not want to discuss the matter with the media the only time we will hear anything is when it is a done deal! And personally i think all the evidence that i have read on this site and others also what i have read about QIA them selves on sites that have nothing to do with football that mention QIA, Aston Villa and a possible purchase of the club points more in favor of a take over then against but only time will tell.

Hate to be pessimistic about the Keane deal but is it only me that thinks £500000 is a bit much for a 31 year old for only a possible 6/7 games if he does not get injured? Surely our main problem at the moment is getting a supply of decent balls to the front men to have the chance of scoring? Don’t get me wrong I think Keane on his day is worth having but not for the cost and time frame.
