Villa are apparently in a race with Hull to sign Quincy Promes, Manchester united are also set to pounce, though its believed Promes is prepared to snub united as its likely he'd get loaned out straight away.

The only news I have on villa is there is no real news. None of us know nothing. I still think we will end up being owned by larry ellison. But that's just my opinion. Here is a rumor for you though. My sources tell me we are in talks with shola amiobi who is a free agent to come in as cover for benteke while he is out and to push him once back.!

Doug Ellis clearly hasn't got a clue what's happening in his own head, let alone what's happening with the sale of villa.

He's an old man who's very confused.

Lets just hope we get the right owners in, not a quick fix, like small Heath Portmouth Blackburn etc.

That's the most ignorant and stupid comment to come off this site, and that's saying a lot, because there's a lot of stupid comments on here, but your comment is far beyond anything I'd expect to come from a fan.

If Birmingham City, Portmouth, Blackburn, Coventry, Leeds, Leicester, Nottingham Forrest, Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham were more "picky" when selling to new owners then they'd still be in the prem or they would have been back in the prem a long time back.
Not to mention they would never have been on the verge of closure.

Lerner needs to get the right owners, not another Venky/Gaydemak type of owner who promise everything and only offer destruction an liquidation.

I personally would only want to see Ibarbo at Aston Villa. Martin is shocking, Senderos is even worse and cheryshev hasn't shown himself enough.

Totally agree with the 'gabby and weimann out' notion, although wellbeck would not be my choice to replace either of them. sylla and KEA definitely need to go too. no to lescott thanks, not a good cb at all in my eyes, about as good (or bad, whichever way you view it!) as vlaar only he'd want at least 60k p/w and frankly there are many better, YOUNGER cbs that could come cheap.

Vlaar was one of Villas best players last season and if it wasnt for him we would be playing championship football next season and i'm sure most Villa fans would agree with me

Yes he was one of our better performers last season but does that make him a good player? no, it doesn't. the most shaky, least inspiring/influential captain we've ever seen! bring back mellberg I say, don't care how old he is, true hero!

Always makes my laugh when I hear about fans wanting Abdoulrahman, looks great on YouTube but he's playing in a poor league an is hardly the proven experienced player we all agree we need.
Better off going with Hoolihan under the circumstances.

Keen was a good player. but in management he's been a massive flop. as for senderos that would be 2 steps backward

My first reaction was negative but thinking about it I think Keane would really help some of the current players development. obviously we need investment along with new players but that's another story.

Keane wasn't that much of a flop, he got sunderland back to the PL after smashing the championship (over 100 points) and was unfairly dismissed at ipswich (a poor championship side at the time) after a win percentage of just under 40%, which isn't amazing but there are bosses out there with much worse records.
