Villa want to bring Benayoun from Chelsea on a season long loan.

Which Villa is that then?
occassionally brilliant but mostly runs into crowded channels and doesn't track back enough.

True that benayoun doesn't track back enough, but what an option to have to be able to change a game coming off the bench, the sort of player that can have a big impact on a game that's going nowhere. Is skilled and attacking minded which is what most villa fans want at the moment. We're a team that is not in the position to get players that are highly skilled in all areas, name 1 player on the wing that we could get who is highly skilled on the ball, makes surging runs, passes exceptionally well, whips the ball in from the by-line, links up well with others, has a great range of passing, is creative and tracks back to defend well with good marking and tackling. Answer- none! These players are very very expensive and tend to play for top European sides that challenge within the champions league

Now genk are out of the champions league and have missed out on the 15mil they would have received for reaching the group stages they may well have no choice but to sell Benteke.

I diddnt see genk in the cl draw, so hopefully will pursuade them to sell.

koumar babacar will sign for villa in a 6m deal on friday. the 6ft 3 powerhouse forward has already agreed terms and will have a medical today. super signing by pl. s downing will also return in a 10 mil deal on deadline day, and expect a big shock signing ! think of man city on deadline day a few years ago !! things are changing at the top of our club, watch this space.

Babacar joined calacio padova on loan weeks ago so there is no chance. If your going to make up rumours do some research!

Why would PL pay 6million for someone who has hardly kicked a ball in anger in Italy

I still think we will be in for Benteke. This other bloke is already playing for another side and Downing is not worth 1mil and is on around 50k +......

Hi ED i here were signing Bowery today whats the latest on Benteke i've heard we offered 5.5m and now offered 6.5m and Benteke is on strike trying to force the move is there any more news on top of that

Villa are closing in on a deal to sign Rickie Lambert from Southampton, can't see Southampton letting him go though, or the fact that he is in theory past his prime of his career at the age of 30

How can we be closing in if they won't let him go?

heard that Aaron Lennon will be let go by AVB and villa could move in with a £11m bid, whilst rumours of Stewart Downing are wide of the mark he will stay at liverpool.

I think your Lennon idea is more wide of the mark. Lerner would not put up £11M for 1 player. We have a better chance of getting Downing as the scousers still owe money on him from his transfer.

£11 million for lennon. I wouldnt pay that when he was in his prime. I would like to see him at villa park though £5 million max.

I dont think we will be able to afford his wages

He's not great. Doesn't score a huge amount of goals and isn't overly prolific.
