don't know what you guys think about the lescott rumours but personally I would be under-whelmed if he came in. he is too old going forward for what we as a club should be aiming for and he is too slow for the modern game. feel like if he came in it would be almost a panic buy and also the fact he supports the villa yet rejected to join us last year speaks volume in my eyes with how he went to go and join a rival team

I agree i wouldn't personally want lescott, but i do think you want someone with a certain level of experience at the back

I know we were linked to a rejected bid for Lesscot but is there any other links to a new Centre Back as think that's where we need to strengthen.

Hope so. After goals let in against Wolves and Forest I would like to see 2 new defenders.

Is Gil injured? TS was speaking highly of him in Portugal, and he doesn't seem to have played in pre-season since.

He took a knock in the Swindon game a few weeks ago, hopefully he'll be fit for the start of the season.

love to know what he sees in him now but never saw when we needed it? 6 months ago we was crying out for creation but he kept playing nzogbia

Sherwood said when he came in he had to play a style of football that was effective and could keep us in the league I.E. Very much route one stuff. He didn't have time to mould them to play his way, however I presume now he has Gil is his ideal player!

Well I won't say told you so, when all around said that the deal was dead I stuck to my guns and insisted that it was still well and truly alive, not many took me serious even though I gave my reasons for my beliefs so this is not unexpected news for me. Maybe in future people will take a little more notice of the wise old Villa fan. :-) :-)

It's a bit early to start ladling out the humble pie WOVF
The only source for this was a highly, speculative, low on facts (as in, NONE) article in the Star.
Hardly case proven yet mate

WOVF, The clubs up for sale. Therefore at some point it will be sold. Does this mean you can play the "I told you so" card whenever a rumour arises?

145 million takeover is on to a American group. Will be sorted and done by end if window. I think this is done myself and it's these guys buying the players.

£145 million for villa are you serious, RL not daft, the only way he would sell for that he keeps the money from CB/FD and the new owners have purchased the new players. RL has spent loads on villa we should show him some respect

I agree with villajk. RL deserves a lot of respect and love from the villa fans. This man has put so much into villa and Has Got very little out. I'd understand if he was bleeding the club dry taking all the profits but we keep making a loss yet he keeps putting money in. This is the guy who bought us and gave millions to "the messiah" Martin o'neill who spent millions on average players and stupid wages on average players he then wouldn't play. Martin o'neill who thought it was a good idea to sell Gary Cahill for £5m and buy Curtis Davies for £9m. RL used to be a very wealthy man but a few years ago went through a messy divorce where is now ex wife took half of his money. Yet lots of villa fans just moan and moan. They ask why RL doesn't keep ploughing money into our "beloved club" yet moan if a ticket goes up by a few quid. This may be a very unreasonable rant but it annoys me when some villa fans moan that some American guy doesn't put millions of pounds in to "OUR" club (their words) but then moan about paying the £35 to see "our club" play football. It was only a few years ago that he paid out around £24m on one player who kept us in the premier league that season. How many other premier league chairmen sanction deals like that? He has my respect. VTID. UTV.

Sorry, rant over :)
