Villa cant buy players because they all want ridiculous wages. Reo c. wont come back because he would not be prepared to play for less than half he was being paid when at VP previously. Lerner wants performance related pay and he will force this through if he remains the owner, which must be questionable.

Wouldn't want reo coker back anyway he was over paid here and at bolton thus released by both clubs cause he ent worth the money he wants

Sounds reasonable to load contracts with incentives. The debacle of the last few years where players were prepared to sit on the bench and steal a living.
Randy Lerner is trying to re-build an ethos - that is not reliant on the whims of whinging, Football Manager geeks who only want a quick fix experienced hacks. If the club went for over-priced players we could have Roque Sante Cruz, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Danny rubbishu and Wayne Bridge.
In Lerner and Lambert I trust! {Ed001's Note - so long as it is win bonuses, goal scoring bonuses can make a player selfish and take shots when there is an easy pass on to an open team mate.}
Agree3

The owner is a serious cheapskate... splash the money and help the team grow. His american football team were the worst team and he is doing that to villa also
Agree1
Disagree2
Performance related earnings would not simply be win bonus. League position, crowd, team goals scored , many things would have to be incorparated. Guarding against relegation, honouring contracts etc. The players can only be paid by what goes through the turnstiles. Smaa crowd small payday. Someone must be able to work out a system of pay for performance.

Im a Boro season ticket holder and im shuffed to bits with this deal. The guy is average at best. Cant understand what your manager is thinking about looks like a season fighting relegation again for you. {Ed007's Note - If you are a Boro ST holder why did you send in the two posts below as well? There is nothing more pathetic than kidding on you support another team, away and grow up.
Signings like this make a baggie like me feel quite smug. Top midland club got to be the Albion again this season.

benteke will be a wicked signing and one for the future as well same with Bennett bag loads of quality but still need Adam from Liverpool to captain and ruffle a few feathers. And they still owe us for downing! In Lambert i Trust its not gonna be a quick fix need to give him chance to make his own team he did walk into am's rejects after all and there's still a couple of Mon's left as well both of which spent money on bad players utv

Rather have Downing back than £60k p/w charlie adam ;)

Bennett hasn't got bags of quality. He's a solid left back but my Boro supporting mate says he isn't anything special.

Not a rumour but why dont we re-sign Reo Coker. He was superb before his fallout with MON. He is what we need and would be a great addidtion to the squad.

There is a reason that Hokey Cokey is without a club. I think it's something to do with him not being very good at football

The season before he fell out with the clown MON he won the most tackles in the prem that season. That is exactly one of the players we need

Rio coker is great off the ball but TERRIBLE on it. he cant pass the ball. dont want him
Agree0

Reo coker would be a great re signin. Left bolton as had a relegation clause in his cotract and left us cause we couldnt afford him so nothing to do with not bein any good. Would be the steel we need but cant see it happenin sadly

So it looks like Villa will sign Benteke 6m and Bennett 2.5m
They will offload Hutton 1.5m and Warnock 1.5m
In my opinion we still need 2-3 more players because let's face it we have one of the smallest squads in the prem and with enviable injuries we will be struggling.
I don't see why we don't go for players like Huddlestone Loan, Dawson 5m, Lennon 8m, Berbatov 5m (wages an issue) Adam 5m
We don't seem to be competing with even the clubs around us when it comes to transfers, we may not have all the money in the world but were not even looking at loan signings and at the moment as a Villa fan it's very disappointing.

Dawson's around 9-10 million, but would love to get him! Lennon decent, would only need to get one of huddlestone or Adam
Agree0
Disagree2
We don't have that kind of money these days, also your assuming that that is how much those players will cost. I heard the price for Dawson was closer to £9m, and that's a bit much for my liking for an injury prone player.
Huddlestone is very injury prone, can be good on his day but the same can be said about a certain jermaine jenas and we all know how that ended!
Lennon had pace but no end product and berbatov is too expensive.
PL had stated he wants young, hungry players.
I'd happily see bent replaced with a striker who does more on the pitch,he had 3 touches of the ball against west ham and while that is partly because of a lack of a decent supply line (downing, young) its also because bent doesn't contribute to play at all. Would rather have a striker who plays deep and gets involved and helps create his own chances rather than standing waiting for the ball to be passed on to the end of his big toe!
Agree4

Does hungry players mean Charlie Adam, judging by his gut I think he's got no hunger left in him.
Bring back reo Coker! {Ed007's Note - Judging by his teeth he has been chewing bricks.]

Reference bent he had 1 touch in the everton game which was a header off the line

Purely rumour based. Supposedly Benteke went on strike last night after villas bid was rejected. Possible move for gouffran, supposedly we have also approached Zigic (I believe this as it would give PL a target man and cost nothing!) and heard that Brahimi loan is still in the balance. Any fans who think Walcott will be an option due to arsenal putting him on transfer list you can forget it, man city have supposedly shown interest. Downing won't be coming back to villa park, Carroll doesn't want to go anywhere but Newcastle. If we're lucky we might be able to push through warnock + cash for olsson. What are your thoughts Ed? {Ed043's Note - these are all still on the table from what i have heard also villa have apparently made an inquiry for kenwyne jones and are also looking at bennet and cresswell for our left back too}

Just wanted to say that Aston Villa need to start buying bigger players, They seem to be buying lower players from lower teams, By the end of the transfer window they will have a squad that is good for the championship .. not the premier league
