if failing to land Belhanda, Lambert will turn his attentions to bordeaux midfielder gregory sertic.

Why on earth is Lambert not signing Luke Murphy for only 1 million?
Why are we sitting back and letting Wolves or Blacburn have him?

Agree8 Disagree1

Like yourself, I fail to understand why Murphy is not at Villa.

Agree6 Disagree0

Hopefully he's got someone better lined up

Agree5 Disagree0

I knew Lambert watched him so many times last season - surely he believes he can get better options or he'd go for Murphy who I believe can become a quality centre mid, especially for only £1-£1.5m

For what it's worth! My take on the Belhanda transfer saga. Rumours started nearly 4 weeks ago on this site, so you would imagine some sort of initial contact was made with Monpellier / player. Enough time for the player to decide whether AVFC was a suitable option based on the style of play i. e would it suit Belhanda. The main decision left for any player to make at this point tends to be financial, so why does it require an extended period of consideration for Belhanda. Football history shows that when a player is unsure about a move to a club and they move there, they tend to regret it. AVFC is a great club with a great history and amazing ambition, I think Belhanda is stalling hoping for a top 4 club to enter the frame, with Villa's current standing surely we only want player's that really want to play at VP of which there are many, I imagine. I may be completely wrong, time will tell.

Agree6 Disagree0

Belhanda keeps saying good things about Villa. I hear Ireland, Given or Bent have to leave firstly to give a little bit of wage bill slack.

any Villa fans know wots happening with Bent. I heard SAFC want him back. also NUFC interested. hope not. love him back at SOL

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Likely to leave, Fulham, Hull and Newcastle the main touted interested clubs. Recent silence is probably due to wrangling over a fee. If Sunderland pay 7m and his 65k wages then he will probably go (if the fans forgive him) have not heard any interest from Sunderland though, but I am not his agent.

Montpellier have accepted bids for belhanda from villa and al jaziir. Belhanda has stated he wants to play in the premier with Belhanda signing expect nzogbia to go maybe even albrighton as we''ll suddenly have wingers in abundance

Believable11 Unbelievable3

Seems like the worst kept secret over the last 2 weeks. It's been hillarious seeing PL try to down play his interest even though Belhanda confirmed his interest, I hope the deal is done quickly, I think he's a terrific player. Belhanda thru the middle supporting benteke with weimann and Gabby out wide could be devistating.

I am praying this is true and he chooses us. Think he could be the last class piece of the puzzle with the addition of maybe another couple of defenders. let's hope we can look forward to a season of enjoyment and comfort after the last few years of nail biting, hair pulling & sleepless nights!

Agree10 Disagree1

We won't be able to sell N'Zogbia as he has just had an operation on his achillies!

Agree11 Disagree1

Nonsense, zog is going to miss the start of the season through injury, albrighton is a youth product on a low salary and finally belhanda predominantly plays in the hole not on the wing!

Agree11 Disagree0

YES - if we do sign Belhanda then players will leave. Ireland, Hutton, Given, Bent are a given but if we start splashing on Belhanda it worries me that it could suggest an exit for Benteke. Big cash £25m which we would spend but a huge loss and I would rather us not.

Agree8 Disagree3

Yep i'm sure that as much as we would like to see belhanda i'm sure we would all rather benteke stay

Agree5 Disagree2

How does getting belhanda in mean we would lose benteke?. utter nonsense, we would be after a striker not an attacking cm!

Agree6 Disagree0

Paying 12.5m won't mean we have to sell, that will take our total to just over 25m which is about what we spent last season, with the sales and getting the high earners off the wage bill we'll have made near enough 15m as well. All this nonsense of selling to buy its silly, we have to money to spend tomorrow because if we're getting rid of players on 60k for players on 15k we'll be saving close to 10m from a years wages. Add that to fee's for bent, possibly ireland, bannan and given if we get anything for him and we'll have effectively broke even in a years time. Not too mention that this is a transitional period and we're replacing most players so in a year or two randy won't have to be splashing the cash and should any of the young lads leave it will be for a huge profit. I can guarantee in 3 years time randy wikl have earny double what he spent on this team at least.

Agree3 Disagree0

If only this was true, but if this fails which unfortunately I think it may. why not Wanyama different attack minded midfielder with a commanding physical presence with loads of room to improve

Agree1 Disagree0

If anything, signing Belhanda would help convince Benteke to stay for another year. He'll see the ambition and want to reward the manager, the club and the fans by giving us another year of his services.

Agree2 Disagree0

Benteke doesn't seem to want to leave. Do remember all we are hearing this is from papers who just want to make people want to read more about a headline to gain your interest & pay for their paper!
Benteke will be a Villa player next season!

Agree1 Disagree0

If Benteke want's to stay at VP all he has to do is to confirm this on the AVFC web site, then all the speculation will stop.
