Two Norwegians will be signing before the end of the window.

Markus Henriksen and Harmeet Singh.

Believable6 Unbelievable11

Is henriksen still at AZ? if so then can see this one as a possibility as he has been a good player in the eredivisie for a while now even though he is still young and not played for 1 of the top 3 dutch sides (as far as I know!), maybe he wants to step up his career a bit further now, who KNOWS? ;)

Agree1 Disagree5

Strange that Lambert has said he doesn't expect anymore signings this week.

Agree4 Disagree4

Didn't he say that last year?

Oldvillan

Agree7 Disagree1

I, m affaid that's our lot holt and bertrand, doesn't exactly get the pulses racing does it. what happened to this dynamic number 10. didn't david cameron want to play.

Agree6 Disagree2

Yes he did say that last year and he wasn't lying.

Agree4 Disagree2

That's funny as the reports I saw yesterday said he is still looking.

Agree2 Disagree5

I'm looking but I don't expect to find much activity at VP.
Saying that I want to see some action and hope that Lambert has something in the pipeline or we may be in another struggle for survival.

Agree6 Disagree3

He said he's still scouting for people but not expecting anyone to sign.

Agree8 Disagree3

Lambert is very good at hiding the truth

Agree3 Disagree3

Or a very good liar.

Agree1 Disagree1

It's not Henrikson we're looking at from AZ, it's johann gudmundson

Jeffrey Bruma is apparently a target now that Lambert has poured cold water over a Lescott loan deal, the big surprise this window is that Villa want to strike a deal and bring Jordy Clasie to VP - if it comes off it'll be the big marquee signing Villa have been deliberately denying will happen, Zaha was enquired about but wages were a problem, same scenario with Lescott.

Believable7 Unbelievable12

If Zahas and Lescotts wages were too high then who's paying Clasies wages? You! I thought not, marquee signing my a**e.

Agree10 Disagree5

Well if this is true would be fantastic, good attack minded Dutch played, can play centre mid or behind the striker

Agree9 Disagree5

Clasie would be a great signing, fantastic passer an is an aggressive type CM so would improve us 10 fold.

Can't see it tho, he'd certainly have clubs who are in the CL looking to sign him

Villa still after a couple more on loan but it's becoming difficult to pull off as a few teams are after the same targets. Randy will not give Pl cash as he is definitely looking to sell villa ASAP. Redbull still in the market for us even though it's been said they are not. They always come out with these things to drop media attention and then boom. There is also interest from a qutar group and they have watched a couple of games but I still think Redbull will happen myself. Let's hope the cash comes in and we can be a top 4 force and win things.

Believable5 Unbelievable12

If we do sign anyone else, we will be the last to know about it, lambert is good at keeping things close to his chest, I also believe we will be sold in the summer, whether it's to red bull or not we will have to wait and see

Agree7 Disagree5

If we are in for loans then they will be for players outside the English league, as Premier League clubs are only allowed two loan players at any one time.

As we have Bertrand and Holt, the only way of getting Ince for example, would be to buy one of them - I don't think any of us realistically thinks this would happen, especially as Chelsea want Bertrand back.

Agree6 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - actually Chelsea are willing to let Bertrand go, he was offered in a part exchange deal for Shaw before the season.}

Enough of this being sold soon please. Lerner paid 60 odd million and has invested a further 160 million bringing total investment upto 220 million or there abouts, upto the last published accounts we are still running at a loss so maybe with all the bomb squad gone ( they haven't by the way ) we might change that trend. As Lerner isn't exactly short of a bob or two he will won't near enough his investment back or otherwise he's austerity measures will start recouping rewards as long as we stay in the premier league.
AVFC is probably worth 80 million as some would argue our squad is worse than when Lerner took over and the actuall ground and training facilities are now seven years older. So unless someone is stupid enough to pay three times what were actually worth then we are stuck with Mr Lerner and his cost cutting measures. If the figures are to be believed Lambert has already more than slashed the wage bill and even our academy players who are on high contracts are being pushed out or have already gone were as academy players who negotiated contracts at much lower terms are being kept. Fonz vs baker, Bannan vs herd, etc etc.
I can see continuing in this manner for at least another seven years until Lerner has recouped most of his loses and can then sell AVFC for the actuall market value.

Agree6 Disagree8

Market value of £80m? Where did you get that from? Man City were sold in 2008 for £210m, at a time when arguably they where in a similar position as us just finishing mid-table, but with a much higher wage bill. Also they didn't own the ground and the training ground had not been modernised. I may be wrong, but I think they also had quite large debts the time. Another similar team, Newcastle, where sold in 2007 for £135m, and again they had big debts as well. Since then TV revenues have gone through the roof. Fulham were sold last summer for over £150m To be honest, I would have no idea how much villa re worth

Agree7 Disagree8

Sorry, the last part of the post should have said "I have no idea how much villa are worth, but it is a lot more than £80m, but based on the previous sales £220m is probably not a million miles away"

Agree7 Disagree5

Man city was a one off as it was sold for 86 million a year before. Crazy billionaire hell bent on success.
Newcastle was an error of judgement from Ashley as he wasn't aware of just how much debt was involved and has admitted if he could get 263 million he would sell, one year later and still no takers.
Fulham is a strange one, Shahid certainly looks eccentric and maybe it's the London thing or maybe Al Fayed used the Arkright shop sales technique on him.
Twelve months ago Lerner and Faulkner were in Paris having talks with QIA, a year later still no takers. Maybe my 80 million value was way off the mark but it's been at least a year we put it out there that we are for sale and so far nothing but Red Bull and the Qataris. Well the Qataris (QIA) have had a year to think about it and Red Bull isn't a one man decision, they will have a team analysing everything and I don't think they will match Lerners value whatever it is hence Houliers statement.

Agree4 Disagree4

Ed, re: Bertrand, I meant it was unrealistic to expect us to buy him in this transfer window as we would have already have done it. If we do buy him now to get an additional loanee this would suggest our transfer strategy was either not thought through, or an exceptional value for money player becomes available.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - if he is on a buy to loan deal, you can then get another player on loan. No need to buy him now.}

Liverpool were sold for 300 million, probably 200 million worth of players on the books and better history (most of their champions league winning team are still playing wear as our lot are withdrawing their pensions). Massive world support.
Still think we are worth 220 million?

Agree4 Disagree12

Fair point, however the Liverpool owners were virtually run out of town and forced to sell, which probably deflated the price. In fact they took legal action (admittedly unsuccessfully) over the sale as they argued they had been "swindled". Also, the new owners knew they were going have to invest heavily in the ground, which would also have impacted the value. If your argument is that as Liverpool were only worth £300m therefore Villa must be worth less, you must also therefore agree that as Fulham were sold for £150m that Villa must be worth more? On that basis £220m doesn't sound unreasonable.

Agree9 Disagree5

Lol
Villa only worth £80m?

Villa's revenue last years was more than £80m and with the increase of the tv money we're expected to be making close to £100milion in revenue within the next 3 years and will be in the top 30 richest clubs in the world based on revenue so to say the club is only valued at £80million is nonsense!

An the clubs facilities might be over 5 years old but there still amongst the best in the world.

Then the land that the stadium an training grounds are built on are probably worth £100m or more so Lerner would have to be a fool if he considers selling villa for anything less than £200m and a fool Lerner is not.

Come on mate it's Aston not Chelsea, would you want to live there? Also our last three published accounts have shown loses of 22million on average per season. With most of the high earners gone we will be lucky if we break even, add to that the raise in sky money I think Lerner with use the extra income to reset the previous loses. In the mean time we all complain about the quality of players were buying, we are in fact the template of normal. Those clubs smaller than us who are buying better players on higher wages need to look at our recent history, we've made those mistakes and are now paying the price.
I'll put this out there, what if we were to be bought out by Sky, I mean they're already keeping us afloat with reported 90 million a season t. v. Payments just double it and bobs your uncle. After all we are the oldest named club in the league.

Agree7 Disagree11

KingVilla are you absolutely mental? Aston Villa is the oldest name in world football. There is no more traditional club going AND YOU WANT TO SELL TO RED BULL? We will be Red Bull Birmingham (city is more marketable name) and their previous acquisitions show they try to ERADICATE the former history of the club they buy (Red Bull Salzburg lost kit and founding date 1937 to 2005). You would do that for a pot of gold? Ridiculous. I'd rather see Villa in League 1 than lose everything I love for short term success.
