edds; any idea who are linked with,and any truth in this so called take over {Ed001's Note - I have no clue about any takeover, only thing I know is that Lerner is unhappy with the direction the club is taking. He spent money hoping to do what Newcastle are doing, but MON failed and now the gates are down and money is tight, it is difficult to invest right now. But I have not heard of any definitive interest in Villa, though AEG have held exploratory talks with a number of clubs, Villa being one.
As for players, I had heard talk of a season long loan move for Jack Robinson from Liverpool being lined up for next season. That is the only new rumour I have right now, but it is still a long way from the start of the transfer window yet.}

Ed : Gates are down at Villa because of the appointment Lerner made at the start of the season. I know of a number of season ticket holders who didn't renew their season tickets purely due to the appointment of a ex Blues manager and many others who are unlikely to renew at the end of this season due to the dire brand of football we have seen this season. Pains me to say it but seems to me that Lerner & Co have settled for mediocrity ! {Ed001's Note - I agree Lerner hasn't helped himself, but gates were dropping anyway, so you can't blame that entirely.}

I think we will be swapping places with the blues come the end of the season. got some hard games coming up and the management of the club just dont seem worried,

Agree2 Disagree2

The gates have dropped dramatically because of the appointment of McLeish, no other reason, the club is advertising that it is lacking ambition. Villa fans tend to vote with there feet. lerner needs to go and so does his 2 sidekicks

Now I really hate the millions of managerial changes that happens to the Premier League (And football in general) and I think managers should get at least 2 or 3 years before they get up for the "sack", but I think the appointment of Alex Mcleish in the first place was wrong. It feels rather bitter in a way and someone fresh should come in I think. Aston Villa have an AWESOME squad if you really look at it with promising young English players as well, but Mcleish isn't the man.

Mcleish is a joke and a very bad one at that

Agree13 Disagree1

Awesome squad ? Give your head a wobble. We have the potential to have a good squad cos we had one before but now lack of investment leaves us too reliant on youngsters (no matter how good they are)

Agree4 Disagree1

Don't think Lerner has the guts or the interest to do the right thing by Villa fans. McLeish plays second rate players, employs second rate tactics and, surprise, surprise, we turn in a second rate performance. The manager is solely responsible for the performance of the team, he chooses who plays so if they fail to perform drop em ! the youngsters can't do any worse. Weiman should have started ahead of Heskey on Saturday but everyone knows that other than McLeish

I agree 100% with this last post. mcleish is not a premier league manager. he got them relegated TWICE in 3 seasons! he buys championship level players in order to transform teams into relegation battlers which is the tactic of an unambitious man who aims for plaudits for "keeping clubs up" when he himself turns them into relegation possibilities. hes a bad manager , who plays awful football and makes terrible team picks. please sell the club lerner and take that useless person with you
