Villa now second favourite to sign owen - would be great for this season

Believable4 Unbelievable10

Owen is not the answer. We need creative players to make runs into the box to get the ball to our forwards. Owen plays on the shoulders of defenders and is a goal poacher. There is a reason why Man Utd let him go. We need wingers or attacking midfielders. Not a six yard box poacher. Also we need a left back and another strong central defender. Nothing that can't be fixed witch Lerner spending what would be a little bit of cash to him. At the beginning of the season, heard we had £20 mil to spend. What happened to that. We have bought only actually bought two players. Holman was a free and Guzan was a free re signing. Up the Villa.

Agree0 Disagree3

You obviously havnt seen owen play over the last 2-3 years he not just a poacher he comes deep an picks up the ball makes later runns in to the box, but more importantly I think his movement is superior to an player in the prem an I think would be very usefull to ud

Downing is back!! Lunch time tomorrow downing,Carroll deals announced

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Biggest laugh yet

Agree6 Disagree5

I'll hold you to that!
Both came on as subs agaisnt city.

Agree5 Disagree2

Would you want downing back, bought him from relegated borough, with one leg, got him fit, back into the England squad and leaves for more money, no thanks, what's happening with joe cole? Season long loan would be good, he did very well at Lille

Agree3 Disagree3

Would be better than what we got, thats £55 million worth;)

Agree3 Disagree1

Thats what money bags Pool paid. Combined value in the real world £20m poss less this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

F**K**G JUDAS ....... NO THANKS !

Agree0 Disagree1

People really need to get over the fact downing left villa! He didn't leave for more money, hr left because he saw the future, he saw that we were going backwards an selling our best players, an let's not forget, he was brilliant for us an we more than made a good profit on him, so as far as I'm concerned there shouldn't be any hard feeling towards him

Agree0 Disagree3

Liverpool going forward ? ........ I think not my friend !

What would be realistic for us:

Huddlestone on loan (preferably a buy) - however we have a bad history with loaning players from tottenham. but he would be a good player as he is big, makes people know hes there and will be a good link with KEA.

LB - olsson personally. We need players with a bit of premierleague experience at least (especially in defense considering vlaar will be good but needs time to settle in the new league and all the others are young/inexperienced. Baker does look okay for a cb i think. and dunne being back will help eventually.

CAM - I really want Ireland to play well for us. hes 24/25 and hes got so much more to show. If lambert gets the most out of him then he will come good for us this season. If not then like someone said below; brahim-i (but he is young/inexperienced and small) so possibly Feghouli who at least is bigger and has more strength. (we need a toure player there).

striker - we do need another striker (especially now gabby is injured for a bit). Defoe would have been ideal really amid his age. Hes experienced in this league (main thing) and is fit and probably wont come to us now hes on form at spurs ha). Jones wouldnt be too bad but I would love Carroll - Apparently AVFCMYSTERYMAN on twitter said PL is going full ahead with getting carroll now. He is also a realiable source as he was right with the bent transfer and lambert one too. But you all have your own opinion on twitter and co.

Young squad but the main thing we need is players with premierleague experience. I love Villa and will stick by them but we do need experience in defense.

And give Guzan a chance. thats why we resigned him.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Lets have a bit of a reality check,we avoided relagation by the skin of our teeth last season, 3 new players are not gonna make us a top 6 team, give PL time and i think we can be again. we probably need 5 or 6 players and thats gonns take time. lets not pay over the odds for a quick fix. for me jordan rhodes for £5-6 mill will be a start.

Agree3 Disagree1

Kinda agree with most things you said accept Defoe, We need power presence and creativity in the middle.

It might not seem so right now esp with the 4 new players missing, but our defense would do much better and gel much sooner if the team defended from the front with confidence & purpose, even Barcelona press for the ball with intensity of a Bear protecting it's cubs {the ball} .

Missing- Carrol/Feghouli/Brahimi/Huddlestone maybe even M,Phillips

Siegrist or Guzan in Goal

1st 11

Siegrist

Lowton Vlarr Clarke Cresswell

KEA Huddlestone Brahimi

Feghouli

Bent Carrol

Bench = CarruthersIrelandNzogbiaHolmanGabby..not bad eh!

NOW THE ABOVE TEAM CAN COMPETE!

Agree1 Disagree3

I have to say, if those players came in (huddlestone, brahimi, feghouli, cresswell (olsson personally) and carroll then that would be quality! Lets hope RL gets his thumbs out of his ass and helps us out. He needs to now more than ever.

I have a weird feeling that this result was the right one for AVFC in many ways... The Perfromance-1-3/The Exposure in Midfield - Fellani/The Attack or Creativeness- where I must of missed Bent moving an Inch/The Defence-Why is is the imobile figure of Given still our 1st choice keeper, his name along side buddies such a Dunne should be Mr Static.

Now before you critics begin, this is just my opinion which is one most villans share.

Bayen paid £13mill for Marco Reus this the the game changing type player that we should have gone (check him out doubters, it's little money for such quality considering what English talent cost), however in his absence amoungst many other young or proven talent out there an option SOFIANE FEGHOULI available and not really much of a compromise, we also have BRAHIMI available at around £2.5-3 Mill, CRESSWELL at £3Mill, M>PHILLIPS at £6Mill.

Whatever purchases are made it is now a MUST that the quality and levels of these individuals must be above average and show intent to our rivals that we aim to compete and are not such "easy lays" easy to boss around on a pitch, The countdown is now, the verdict Adjourned until completion of the the window this friday.

We Need at least 4 players a midfielder with Power/Presence Height and Creative Quality, A Forward that go past and beyond players, Winger that can deliver and a defender that can Defend and Support, this is NOT a wish list we NEED this as a min for us to compete

Believable7 Unbelievable3

For one lambert is working in it and I bet he will sign an game changer and secondly reus plays for boriissa Dortmund

Agree1 Disagree2

Your valuation of players is way off!

Agree4 Disagree0

Yes my bad should be B.Dortmund, and my valuation is just an estimate but pretty close.
If your'e referring to Philips at £6 Mill i'd say thats about what his worth, his still in the championship and that's the value of Sinclair's move to a bigger club,

Agree0 Disagree2

The reason brahimi is not already at villa is cus PL won't pay £5m for him

Agree4 Disagree0

Why do you think Reus would come to us?lol. He's 1 of the most talanted players in Europe! An if Kagawa cost £12m then reus will end up costing £20m

Agree1 Disagree0

I said players like Reus, Dortmund as i was so elegantly corrected bought him this summer for about £13Mill we paid £24Mill for Bent(do the sums) all I was saying is that would should widen the net as there is much better quality outthere for less.

Heard a rumour there were some villa fans at the game yesterday. after reading some of this negativity im not sure i believe it. if you want to moan get yourselves on fifa where you can take the villa to the league title or stop the whining and get behind them. young team need support not more pressure and some of the mouth breathers on here just dont seem to understand and they would only be happy if we had a glazer style situation. at least RL is tryin to reign in the spending and lookin to build for the future. its morons like some that leave ridiculous comments that will drive players and managers away. (i am aware that its unlikely players take comments on the net to heart but its the attitude in general which makes me want to eat my own eyes so i dont have to read some of the self affirmed crap that gets on). who wants to play for team where you get booed whenever you make a mistake. im gutted we lost but not angry. Right spleen vented time to watch us smash the toffees on espn classic. UP THE VILLA you miserable berks. Love the rumour stuff eds. all day

right we dont need to break the bank....

brahmini would be good to get
we could also do with signing Cresswell at LB (or the Boro guy) and a combative CM like Huddlestone on loan

Believable4 Unbelievable1

We need a leader with experence on the pitch david beckham could do a job, short term! i like your other sighning but not Huddlestone

Agree3 Disagree3

Useless are we gonna get our act together before Friday or will we wait until the January window to panic buy and pay over the odds for average payers

Agree1 Disagree2

David beckham short term? Yee that will go perfectly with keeping the wages in line einstein

to all you moaning fans out there if you want wins after wins after wins go support man city or united if you dont wanna support them then get a grap and a reality check because we have a new team that need to gel everton have had a team that has been playing for a good season or more so had time to gel already seeing the likes of vlaar el ahamedi and lowton are going to be great signings and baker was one of the best players on the pitch itsonly the second game of the season and look at the likes of everton they have always got off to a slow start in the past and always finished in the top 8 so stop trying to right the team off before the season i well under way

Believable5 Unbelievable2

We don't want win after win after win just 1 would be nice

Agree2 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more mate. If your a proper fan you stick by villa no matter what.

Agree3 Disagree0

Lets be fair, everton were awesome yesterday. PL just needs time as well as 3 players which im sure he knows also (LB, CM, ST)

Paul Lambert to hold crunch talks about Villa's transfer policy and intentions/ambitions, as PL wants 3/4 more players> Probably a LB, Striker, Winger, and CM to replace injured Gardner. Could see Olsson, brahimi and Huddlestone. Not sure about the striker though.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

We don't have a transfer policy as we don't sign anybody

Agree2 Disagree1

If we want Huddlestone, we'll have to move fast as Stoke want to re-negotiate with Spurs and TH

can someone tell me who is to blame for that crap display today? was it MON for crap signings we can,t get rid of? AML for 1 bad signing Hutton? RL for not backing the manager with cash? OR PL for the way we played? To me it,s got to be PL he picks the team he,s the one who tells em how to play which is utter garbage. At least with AML we knew what to expect negative football. AT this rate we will be relegated God help us when we play a good team.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Paul faulkner is massive problem at VP.

Agree8 Disagree2

Well I'd just like to point out that we did play a good team... a very good team for your information. Everton have finished something like 7th, 10th, 5th, 5th, 6th in the past 5 years. And I have no doubt they will finish in a similar position this year. They just got off the back of a brilliant win against Manchester United (19 times premierleague champions). So don't say we have not played a good team because we have.

I said in a post the other day, we have got to get behind Villa. They are a young squad and the only way they will win games is if we don't demoralise them at Villa Park with booing. It is not going to be fixed over a few games, were in a mending fixture so give Paul Lambert time. UTV

Agree6 Disagree2

Not RL fault if the players are inexperienced, too many young players, we need a couple of decent players with premier league experience e.g. huddlestone, owen

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree Everton are a good team with a good manager & chairman who for the last few seasons have worked wonders with no money. We spent a load of money & have gone backwards. We have a young side i agree but we need some more experienced players to help them.

Agree3 Disagree0

We need a new winger, centre back & a decent striker to partner bent!
Lets hope Gabby's back ey! or its hello blues in the championship!

Agree1 Disagree1

The selection was awful today and i have to say so far the tactics in both matches have been poor. I am all for giving PL a chance but he must realise Fonz is awful and Bannan just has not a i fear will not reach his potential plus his attitude stinks. On a positive i think Vlaar and Al Hamadi(?) were our best two players.

Agree5 Disagree1

How can you point the finger of blame at PL. you tell me what options he has when it comes down to the style of football we play. Hold it..I'll answer that for you..none! I'm fed up of repeating myself to negative 'fans', wingers can't supply a ball into the box for one striker who's obviously going to be out numbered 5-1, bent is not a target man so long ball over the top isn't an option (reminder that 'hoofing it' is what everybody moaned about last season anyway) so that leaves us with playing the ball along the ground through the centre of the park ontoa sole striker who is isolated and constantly man marked by at least1 defender. At least we scored.. Oh shock horror, look it was scored by one of that awful managers new signings. Sheesh, get off PL's back!

Agree2 Disagree6

2 swallows dont make a summer and 2 games dont make a season i was as gutted and dissapointed as any villa fan yesterday but lets have faith and a few new faces who knows , its a tough time to be a villain we all know that but i believe PL can turn our fortunes around.KEEP THE FAITH.

Agree3 Disagree2

For me the negatives were no one taking a shot on goal we had 2 all game from Bannan and El Ahmadi the rest of the time we long balled it to Bent who never got it and N'zogbia constantly running it to far and then losing the ball when he was obviously trying to cut in the box to shot himself. And Given proving he's rubbish under pressure as Clark could not stop everton penetrating at the back.

Now that was the negatives here's the positives:

El Ahmadi and Holman looked like they'll be good.
Bannan and N'zogbia showed flashes of brilliance but faulted at the last hurdle.
Baker was the iron man of the defence the moment he moved to centre back with Vlaar Everton could not penetrate the defense I believe moving forward it should be Baker and Vlaar at the back as they worked well together which meant cause we were solid at the back we were able to take more of a grip on the game also Lowton looked decent to.

Agree4 Disagree1

Faulkner is nothing but a puppet for Lerner. He knows nothing about football and is a waste of space.....

Having said that, it is Lerner who employs him so it comes back to Randy.

Please, anyone, name me one team who has bought more players and then resold them for a loss as much as Villa have over the past few seasons?

This is at the heart of it all. We have bought crap and sold for a loss on them. The youngsters need selling off now. I mean, we know that Wiemann, Curruthers, Gardner, Baker, Lichaj and Clark have a future at Villa. The rest should be sold in order to boost funds to make our team better.

We have the next batch waiting in the wings with Burke, Grealish and Daniel Johnson.....each one project to be much better than Bannan or Delph for example.

Agree3 Disagree2

How can people moan about Lambert already it's been two games! It was never going to be over night success and he can only do as well as Lerner lets him with no money! If all you moaners want a easy life and money flying everwher f*** off and support man city your negativity helps nothing!

Well, what can I say... The reality pill has just hit the zone after today's debacle.

4 days to show intention, but feel deep down its not going to happen.

Catalyst needed badly to get us competing again, yes it's early days but the signs are not great. Getting stick all evening from Baggies fans just tells you exactly where we are.

Robbie Savage could actually be right..

Our youngsters are not yet ready, we do not pose a threat in any way and the only way we are staying up like last year is that there are 3 worse teams than us.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Baker is good though Guzan should be in goal!

Agree1 Disagree2

Problem is that with this start who will want to come to VP now, unless someone wants to be the big fish ...but something needs to be done. We will know this week what the intentions are and what the level of ambition is. Experience needed, someone to help the young ones settle, develop and gain confidence.
