Burnley have apparently stated an interest in signing Westwood if they get promoted. Let me know when the window opens I will drive him up there myself.

Westwood gets a rough time, grafts, and doesn't stop, and to be fair to him, he has never hidden. Not like most the others.
He is not world class, probably not prem class. But he has never said he is!
It's the other numpties we need rid of.
I'm not saying I want to keep Westwood, far from it! Just feel he is an escape goat, when he is playing to best of his limited ability, when we have so many others who never turn up, try or keep their heads down.
They could learn a lot from him regarding professionalism.
Never in the limelight, good or bad.
Never on social media.
Head down doing his best.
Can the rest say the same??

Well said flackie mate. Westwood may not be a world beater but he keeps his head down and does his best. I'd keep him for the championship, probably better suited to that level.

we need a new midfield, he has been at villa 3to4yrs adds nothing, seems nice person but another PL buy who needs to go, too weak and small for championship.

I think he should go, don't get me wrong, I also think he was a poor buy, even by our recent standards.
However, as I have said, it's his ability that let's him down, not his work rate, desire, or antics.
And, here is the kicker, our scouts brought him because of his ability.
Perhaps they are where we should be aiming our frustration.

But the annoying thing is, he tries to!
Can we honestly say, except for gana, and veratout, (so only talking his position) that they can all say that?
That's not looking at strikers, or our defence!
Yet always, he is the guy singled out.
Let's remember, our scouts brought him, they told him he is good enough for prem! He was way below.
What I'm trying to say, and badly i know, is we all know we are siht, including those players.
We will never know, if the rest had stepped up, and put the work rate that Westwood has in, we might of at least given survival a go.
Personally I think they should all leave, and all get grief. But for me, the last guy I would point a finger at his him.

So many games I haven't noticed him which in truth is not too bad a thing for his position. I would probably keep him as a reserve. Certainly not really able to get into many premier league teams. He is however one of the squad who has maintained his dignity, respectfull on and off the pitch and is one of the few I would wish well.

Well that caused a bit of a kerfuffle! Best summed up as a nice kid who just hasn't quite got the talent we would expect of a Villa midfielder. Definitely not though in the same mould as the rest of the work shy prima donnas masquerading as villa players. A good pro. As I write this I am reminded that a certain Mr B Bannan has made it into the Championship team of the season so maybe there is hope for Ar Ashley!

Westwood is one of the only true professionals we have, not exploding with talent no but is the sort of heart the club needs. Not good enough for the prem. We're not in the prem anymore. I've never disliked him and as flackie said he's being used as a scapegoat.
It's these 'proven top flight' players that have been the issue this year just simply not trying
Give the lad a break, he's never once given up on the club or himself even with his 'lack of ability'.

Just read the papers and there isn't even a rumour now about a takeover now if one was close there's usually some gossip i tell you what if there's know takeover that coffin the blues fans held might aswell be aston villa. if he is sorry an its all his fault why don't he sell the club for a pound like the wolves chairman did that would be a good gesture! I love my club but this is getting stupid i genually think we might not win a game again ever.

trust me I know I play a lot of people up on here but a takeover is very close and is defo happening and Pearson will be in this week. there are 3 bids on table a fan led one. Larry ellison and a Chinese group led by wang jalin. I've herd larry ellison is very very close to being done.

I honestly believe the takeover will happen in the next 2 weeks, these things take time and don't happen over night. I do believe it's a three way battle between US, China and UK. US Larry Ellison probably the preferred option as Lerner will get the £100m straight away. As for Manager I believe that won't be announced until the end of the season. As I think Moyes is hold on to see about takeover and also what happens at Everton. If Ellison buys us I think Moyes will come and be given what is needed to clear out deadwood and build the team he needs.

I had a 500 quid bet on Mccarthy and trust me he is still a major player for job. now I might play a lot up on here with banter but I'm not daft enough to throw 500 quid away without reason. things have changed in the last 2 weeks. I'll tell you for a fact now villa will be in new ownership but the end of season latest if not the end of this week all being well. Pearson and moyes have both been spoken to about the job but I'm hearing Pearson impressed more.

The reason why there is no takeover paper talk today is that there is no takeover to report. The papers simply look around the world for the richest potential bidders and then report their interest, throw in a made up story about some rich Villa fans and it's job done. Everton was up for sale for 10 years with no solid interest, surely they are at least as good a proposition as Villa and they actually have a squad that can compete given a decent manager.

Mervyn King would not of said anything on Bloomberg TV about 'The Sale' of the Villa rather than a sale he also mentioned a time scale over the coming weeks too. He was on the board so knows something is on the cards as a Villa Supporter and season ticket holder of 55 years and experienced Business/ Banker Governor of Bank of England he would not generate rumours if he wasn't certain of a possible outcome.

There is no way it would be this quiet if negotiations were actually happening, someone would be camped at the lawyers offices. I remember when the last Liverpool takeover was happening and I work just around the corner from Slaughter and May in Bunhill Row London and there was a media scrum outside for days.

It was just a stupid flurry last week based on a nothing statement from the club. The reality is that no one actually knows anything and the silence on this is deafening. I am not even in the Lerner was the worst owner in the world ever camp, yes he made some terrible decisions based on poor advice and yes he went missing when things got really tough but he also invested a lot of money when others with shallower pockets or even deeper pockets wouldn't have. There is no amazing takeover around the corner, there is barely a shred of evidence to say that there is.

Another morning comes and not a peep. What worries me is if we do get taken over by some fan consortium they will have no money but will bend to fan pressure and spend more money than the club can afford. If that happens then we could well end up in Leeds/ Portsmouth territory.
