Understand that Benteke's agent was completely taken aback by Benteke's comments. Also understand that Benteke and his agent have been in touch and a statement will be released soon, which will distance the player from comments made. "taken out of context" etc etc

Nevertheless, Benteke has told his agent that he wants to leave IF a bigger club tables a bid. The player wants to move to London but won't agitate for a transfer.

Villa will accept a bid of about £20 million but the club want a decision made quickly.

Believable7 Unbelievable23

Your comment was very reasonable until you said villa would except £20m lol. No, villa won't be excepting £20m! I'd put my life on that!

Agree23 Disagree4

Of course he will go

Agree4 Disagree14

Should be looking for 20 + add ons. Finest talent to be found for years.

Agree14 Disagree11

Go on the Birmingham mail website they have the full translated interview. Just unreliable rags trying to sell papers by stirring it up

Agree13 Disagree6

Benteke has realised he has put his foot in it, So now he is saying the things the fans want to hear him say and deny it all, Wake up people He wants to go but has to live in Birmingham before any transfer is agreed, he would much rather walk about the place without having fans slag him off He will be gone before the start of pre season

Agree12 Disagree5

The national papers just want to sell papers. IF they can come up with some BS from what they consider to be the "correct" translation to link the standout new player in the EPL to the "elite clubs" then lots of people will buy the paper.

Agree6 Disagree5

Benteke has now said his "disgust" at the reports & has called his agent in New York whom has banned him from talking to the press from now on.

Agree7 Disagree6

What else could he say, As its already been said, he realised he had put his boot in it, so he has to try and make it look like its all rubbish and he loves B-ham and wants to stay and struggle along with the Villa and not play Champions league with Arsenal, Grow up will you, He's as good as gone

Agree7 Disagree10

Grant Holt is being linked as a possible replacement for Benteke. Should be able to get him for 5m-7.5m. Lambert rates him very highly.

Jim

Believable4 Unbelievable25

5m-7.5m for a 31yo who has had an average season? I don't think so

Agree16 Disagree4

Total rubbish. If Lambert had wanted Holt he'd have done something last term. In no way does he conform to the player profile Villa are interested in. too old, not good enough and absolutely no re sale value.

Agree15 Disagree4

How about Lambert from the saints?

Agree3 Disagree12

Norwich have Told Lambert and the rest of the football world No first team member are for sale, We have no Debt and no need to be forced into selling anyone especially Villa

Agree7 Disagree8

Holt would love the chance to team up with Lambert again. They have had 3seasons together with holt scoring 75 goal under his old boss.

. It will happen!

Agree2 Disagree11

If we sign holt I am to the moon so I don't have to hear or see anything to do with football ever again.

Agree8 Disagree3

If we sign holt I will get a refund on my season ticket and stick my head down a toilet for a season so I don't have to watch

Agree7 Disagree2

Holts age is against him and his performance has started to wane slightly so a move to Villa is a natural progression and makes sense.

Agree3 Disagree5

Wilfried Bony

Agree10 Disagree1

Amazing how the Canaries keep cheaping on our site. Fat boy Holt would walk to B6 to match up with Lambert. Come to think about it, several of the team would do similar. However I doubt that Lambert would want them. isn't that why he was prepared to leave in the first place.

Agree4 Disagree0

I don't think any of the above posts are by Norwich fans.

Agree2 Disagree3

Holts a lazy player with no passion anymore since being snubbed by England for the World Cup

Agree2 Disagree0

Stop this obsession with Norwich {Ed007's Note - Says the Norwich fan on a Villa forum.}

Agree2 Disagree2

You may all mock Grant holt, but Paul Lambert has the ability to bring out the best in certain players, if you signed Holt I'm sure he would be good for 15 goals and a hat full of assists.

I do not belive for one minute Villa would be interested in Holt, he is a legend at Norwich and should stay there.

I would rather have Holt than Bent, would you?

Honest NCFC Fan.

Agree2 Disagree1

You would rather have holt than bent lol
i don't think there is much chance bent will be after a move to norwich anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

I bet Lambert would rather have Holt than Bent.

Aston Villa are preparing a bid of around £5m for Hull centre back James Chester

Believable6 Unbelievable12

I'd rather that money goes to getting Lescott

Agree12 Disagree5

£5? you really think Villa would pay that much, more like £1. 5. Last year of contract

Agree14 Disagree1

Lescott is not joining! No matter what some fans want and no matter how many times those fans say it, it isn't going to happen.

James Chester is exactly the type of player Lambert would look at, although 5m is a daft price being quoted on here

Agree11 Disagree4

Lescott could join. It's World Cup year he's not getting played he will obviously stand out at us. Then with a back 4 of lowton vlaar lescott baker we can kick on for top 8 as long as we keep benteke. And sign a goalscoring/ creative midfielder luke murphy from Crewe or will Hughes from derby.

Agree8 Disagree7

While the reasons for Lescott joining the Villa stack up (for him to be playing reqularly, local lad, world cup to think of) this is 100% not going to happen.

It would go against everything Lambert has said.

I am a fan of Lescott and agree he would undoubtedly do a very good job for us alongside Vlaar but it amazes me that people think it could actually happen.

Im going out on a limb here but if by some miracle Lescott starts for us first game of next season I will write everyone on here a personal apology. Its not going to happen!

Agree8 Disagree0

No way will Lambert let him go aswel as bent, he will stay for at least another season. And Lerner will back him or he'll be looking for a new manager!

Agree0 Disagree1

James Chester is going nowhere 100% he stated before we got promoted that if we did so he would sign a new contract, why would he join villa and risk not playing whereas if he stayed with hull he would be a guaranteed starter providing he was fit, nothing in the rumour!

Agree1 Disagree2

90k a week would need to take a 50k cut off which is 55% of his wage, would you seriously take a pay cut of 55 per cent?. No and I don't think he wikl

Agree2 Disagree3

Who else in the league would pay lescott more than 40k-50k a week? No one. If lescott wants to go to the WC next summer then he has to move, so unless he's willing to sit on the bench at city an lose his place in the England squad he'll leave an take a massive pay cut

Agree4 Disagree1

Lescott should want to give himself the best possible chance of making the plane to Rio next year so he needs to be playing regularly to do so and would be gerat to see him down the Villa. However with Cahill, Smalling, Jones, Dawson, Caulker, Jagielka etc also competing he may not even be involved even if he is playing so he may go the other way and be happy to pick up his bigger wages and not play too much.

I think people would be amazed at some of the wages teams in the Prem do pay and I actually think there are a few teams outside of this seasons top four who would pay in excess of 40/50k; Spurs and Liverpool obv would. West Ham and Newcastle are paying big wages to players as do Fulham and Sunderland and Lescott would probably improve all of those teams.
