According to reports, Kop still owe Villa around £15m from the Downing deal & so Carroll would only cost us £5m.

Believable4 Unbelievable16

Carroll's not worth £20m so id rather have the £15m from liverpool! Although i dont believe they owe us that much for downing. I read that they payed £10m up front an would pay the rest over a 2 year period so they probably owe us around £5m. If we paye more than £12m for carroll then we'd be getting robbed. >Scg87

Agree21 Disagree5

I'm not a mathematician. But if Liverpool owe us £15 million and we decide not to call in the debt and then pay them £5 million, Carroll has effectively cost us a total of £20 million.
I hope the wife looks after the bills in your house mate !

I doubt that Lambert will make an offer for Carroll as Lerner wants results on a budget, and even though there are variable guess's as to what LFC owe AVFC, Carroll would be a retrograde addition to Villa. He failed at LFC and there is no evidence that he would succeed at Villa. I do think that Lambert will be "his own man" and will get the player he wants. My concern is that targets are slipping away as other clubs are buying now.

Agree7 Disagree2

I think Lambert is doing a good job building a squad with value for money players.
Also I feel many of you under estimate Andy Carroll. He played poorly for about 85% of last season but when he got going he looked decent. He and Bent would be a handful. He is certainly a class above Gabby.

Lambert likes a big man. Though A.C didn't fail at the Toon.

Agree5 Disagree2

Does anyone else think bendner would be a better and cheaper alternative

Agree2 Disagree16

No, Mate. I think it's just you who thinks that

Agree13 Disagree1

I for one would welcome carrol with open arms,he is the best center forward in uk

Agree7 Disagree6

That says a lot for English football

Agree2 Disagree2

I actually like bendtner, he was 1 of the best ST at the euros but going on what we seen from him last season he has no consistency over the course of a season, an considering he'd cost £6m ish i think that money would be better spent on other ST ie Defoe or Carroll, thats why is say NO to us signing him. >scg87

Villa will be a force this season if these signings materialize.
Lukaku or Carrol on a permnant deal, Sofiana Feghouli {Will Inspire confidence a winning feeling and lightup Villa hearts & Expectation},Vlaar,Butland.
OUTS-Dunne,Collins,Ireland,Delph,Warnock,Hutton, Unfortunatley Villa boy Gabby who truly promises loads but delivers below expectations a move may inspire him to better,Given.

Our quality youngsters that have the Grade required will be found out by PL new regime, those that excel willl be integrated to create a great Nucleus of balance/vesatility and dynamic team.

This will allow villa grow & compete without overspending causing financial constraints or becoming a mediocre feeder club, balancing the books/wages with those above sales.

Great Options....

GK-Guzan/Butland DEF=Clarke/Vlaar/Lowton/Lichaj/Baker MID-Carruthers/Ahlmadi/Albrighton/Bannan/Nzogbia/Herd AM=Feghouli/Holman CF/ST Bent/Carrol or Lukaku/Weiman/Delfounso

Am i the only1 that is concerned that while the team is on tour in the US all transfer dealings are on hold?
We could end up missing out on our top targets because of this crazy way of doing things!

An why is faulkner in the US? Is it not apart of his job discription to negotiate transfers! Shouldnt he be in brum sorting out these potential new signings i.e. Vlaar.
Its obvious feyenoord are growing impatiant waiting on villa to decide whether or not they want Vlaar, an soon enough they could end up pulling the plug on the deal because of that!

PL an PF need to be more decisive!>scg87

Agree23 Disagree2

Butland? with teams such as arsenal, man city, chelsea, man u etc all looking at him he isnt gonna come to his rivals. We would only get lukaku or carroll on loan. Lukaku regarded as one of the top young strikers in europe chelsea want to keep him. I'd love to see feghouli but i really don't see him coming from valencia we can't get too carried away we would probably get Snodgrass or Matty Phillips the players we've actually been linked with

Agree5 Disagree1

1) we aren't signing butland from blues
2) gabby is NOT leaving
3) given is NOT leaving
4) ireland i really doubt will leave. He is a Wes Hoolahan type of player - the sort PL uses a lot to feed the front 2 strikers (a finisher & a speed striker) which is gabby/fonz & DB9/"wee"-man.
Get your research done before thinking you know the world of football in the future please

Not surprised vlaar has pulled the plug on his move to villa! I predicted this 2 days ago, Villa have shown a lack of respect to feyenoord and ronny vlaar in their lack of decisivness to get this deal done! Villa have handled this deal like a bunch of amatures! 2 words come to mind, unprofessional an incompetence! Words i didnt expect to say with Lambert as boss, but he's messed up big time. Not only concerning vlaar but what are other transfer target gonna think when villa approach them? Think twice about signing for villa, maybe

PL an PF need to learn from their mistakes, an quick!

Agree13 Disagree3

On this very site i said a couple days ago i was concerned with the handleing of potential signing and especially that of vlaar, i said soon enough feyenoord an vlaar would get bored of villa's games an put an end to any chance of vlaar signing for villa and it seems thats the case! Villa need to get there act together! This is embarrassing for the club!

What would future transfer targets think when we try sign them? >scg87

Really excited about PL's revolution based on attracting hungry, young, and NOT greedy players to VP.

The back line needs sorting certainly put Clark in there, the Vlaar deal seems to have died down but I feel PL has ready got his sights firmly fixed on his targets, they may not be household names but they are going to be young and compliment our up and coming players.

Raids on Championship and lesser leagues in Europe and poss the odd loan deal is the way forward. Be good to see 11
Claret & Blue shirted players giving it 110% week in week out.
