Has anybody else heard the rumour that we supposedly made a bid for Andy Carroll on Wednesday?

Yeah I heard. It it true but not been accepted its still gotta be agreed between villa liverpool and Carroll.
He didn't get on team coach on Saturday and was seen leaving ground in private car.

I think that following the weekend match, we need to address the winger/creative mid holes we have in the side.
There was nothing in the way of service to Bent. Can you imagine if Carroll was in the side? Back to the hoof ball crap i suspect.
I would suggest spending half of the money on Ola Toivonen, who has been scoring for fun last season and then try and find a creative option much like Arteta used to be for Everton a few seasons ago.
I just cant see the sense in spening that much money on Carroll, especially the wages he will demand.
We have a real problem getting the ball to the strikers anyway, so i think that is the first issue to deal with.....

I don't understand why we'r being linked with Defoe he is the same player bent is, it would never work. However a striker we should be looking at is zaha from palace. Another player we could try for wouldbe ince from Blackpool, either way these players are going to cost around 9m and it'l be upto randy to cough up but its an investment either way.
definitely need a left back and poulsen fits the bill, as does naughton from spurs.

Naughton signed a contract extention at spurs yesterday

Bent needs wingers and scores from crosses, Defoe scores by playing on the shoulder of the last man i would not call them the same and think they would be superb together

Tom ince is the player we need real quality

Hutton and warnock need to go before anyone else comes in and no 1 wants them leaving us stuck.

Zaha and Ince are wingers not strikers

Defoe won't be sold anyway, he's the only good striker at tottenham at the minute

Tom ince is a championship player, thats why liverpool sold him!

Defoe an Bent are complete opposites, Bent needs service to score goals, he's a goal poacher, a box striker. Defoe's ability with the ball at his feet alows him to create chances for himself. Perfect example is the goal that Defoe scored against italy, Ask yourself whether Bent would have scored that goal? Answer>Never! I think our chances of getting Defoe depend on whether or not spurs sign a top striker >scg87

Defoe and bent both play off the last man! Sure occasionally any striker will drop out to link up the play but these two would not work well together ask any spurs fan. A striker villa should look at would be in the shape of zaha as he can drop onto the wings a piece it together for the villa. I think you guys need need another cb also. But was really impressed with that moroccan midfielder on Saturday.

Defoe is not going to be sold - he is the only striker Spurs have. They would never sell him it would be madness.

Actually tom ince rejected a contract from liverpool thats why they let him go!

Really gets on my nerves when people point to their time together at spurs to point out defoe an bent didnt play good together, you'll find they only played a handfull of games together because spurs had berbatov an keane at the same time so stop saying 'ask spurs fans how well they played together' lol. Bull!

Zaha has the same potential gabby had. Both played on the wings at the start of their career and gabby moved to strike. Im sure Zaha could potentially do the same in time.

Zaha is technically better than gabby, he beats players with skill not just his pace so yeah can see zaha playing down the middle in the future in a similar way to how young played for us in his last season at AV
